December 2017 Testers: Hopeful for Christmas and Year-end BFPs

I think it's worldwide? I'm in the UK so I wouldn't know for sure but I think it is.
To be honest, sorry if I'm pissing on anyone's chips regarding the keto diet, but imo it isn't a good idea especially in pregnancy.
Firstly, if you go in and do your usual urine samples they will question why you have ketones in your urine. I was kept in hospital because of this and more or less accused of starving myself. I wasn't. In reality, I was off my food and couldn't face anything before my appointment.
Also, you're starving yourself of carbs which isn't a good idea. This leads to unpleasant symptoms and isn't really good for anyone anyway. So many people think carbs are the enemy but what they frequently miss is it's the type of carb, not carbs in general. If carbs in general halted people's weight loss, why does a plan like SW work? They encourage you to eat carbs. Potatoes for example - they are an excellent source of potassium which is essential for a healthy heart, and you'll be hard pushed to find something else with the same high levels. Bananas, also high in potassium. And what's wrong with wholemeal pasta? I understand why people may want to avoid white pasta, white rice, sugar, white bread but I don't understand the logic of avoiding wholemeal pasta, brown rice, wholemeal bread and natural forms of sugar like honey or agave? All in moderation, they're all excellent sources of fibre, another essential in pregnancy if you want to avoid piles! And obviously good for a healthy digestive system. Who wants to have headaches, migraines, feeling faint, dizzy spells and be stuck on the loo for an eternity trying to push out a pound coin sized poo ...

Maca is a supplement that supposed to help with sperm quality and with sex drive. It come packaged here with chocolate so its easy to throw in the smoothies.

I seem to always ovulate around CD18 give or take a day.

Let me know if it works!

Thanks for the info Happycupcake, havent heard of slimming world either. Is it a region specific thing? I am in NZ. Will google that now! Looked at Keto yesterday but not sure its the one for me, i enjoy rolled oats and beans etc so think cutting that out would be too hard.

Keto is very hard. You don’t understand how bad I want some pasta or fries from McDonald’s lol! My daughter eats whatever she wants and she never eats her fries in her happy meal and I get so sad throwing them away.

Since my Mirena removal my sex drive has been through the roof. DH thinks it’s because I want a baby but I told him it’s not that. Like I just want sex all the time, twice a day lol. I haven’t felt like this since I was a teenager. I’m sure he’s enjoying it lol. Timing is always off because he works such long hours. We DTD this morning at like 3:30am because he was getting up for work lol. According to my tracker yesterday would have been ovulation so I guess I’m officially in the TWW. I had a little bit of pains in my left side, which I haven’t experienced since before I got pregnant with my daughter so maybe that was O pain? Guess we shall see. I may take a test on the 30th just to see..

What works for some people doesn’t work for everyone. Some people do experience what you expressed with the pooing and it’s not for them. I haven’t experienced anything like that, I’ve had quite a good experience so far and seeing results, which I never did with any other way of eating. I’ve seen it is safe during pregnancy, but they encourage higher carb intake to allow fruits into the diet. Many women still do it while breastfeeding as well. Of course if I do get pregnant I want to discuss it all with my doctor and make sure he approves still.

Our bodies were meant to live on meat and veggies, if you think back to caveman days. That’s all they had to survive. Occassional treats are fine, but when you’re as heavy as me, I just can’t do that. I’m stilling back and forth as to what to do for thanksgiving. Lost 22lbs in less than 6 weeks and I’m afraid of the consequences of letting myself have some stuffing and pumpkin pie lol.

And I miss beer. Oh I miss beer so so much

I don't follow keto to a T, but I do low-carb. I spoke with my OBGYN about what would work best in my case of PCOS and they sent me to a nutritionist who said that a low carb eating plan would be the way to go in my case. I tried everything: weight watchers, calorie counting, green drinks, etc. Once I started low carb, it worked for me. I do go off track at times, but I always go back because it makes me feel good. Also, I followed a modified low carb eating plan through my pregnancy and breastfeeding with the approval from my doctor. My carb counts went up during that time so I added things like greek yogurt, berries, nuts, and whole grain wraps.

I feel like there is no 1 eating plan that's works for everyone. The best one is to do what works for you and your body in the healthiest way possible then modifying it to adapt to body changes such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.

I had good results on the Whole30 diet. I lost 15lb initially and now I'm hovering at 10lbs less my pregnancy weight (so I gained 5 back over the last year).

I just got a nearly positive OPK. We DTD last night and on SMEP, we should skip tonight and do tomorrow When I will mostly likely get a positive OPK. Would you all try to squeeze in tonight too? My DH has debilitating anxiety that causes issues with drive and also he sometimes can't finish. The extra day might mean that he is unable mentally to preform on a more crucial day.
Should I go for it?

Tough call. Does a positive OPK mean you are ovulating that day or the next day?

I got my cd2 blood results back - any opinions?
AMH=4.280,
ATA (a-Tg=1.86 & a-TPO=0.30),
FSH=4.03,
Prolaktin=9.91,
TSH=1.375 (im already on 75mg euthyrox - so i know this is good) :happydance:

No idea about the rest though... Going for my hssg in 3 days, and will have to wait 8 more days before seeing my fertility dr for his opinion on my hssg and blood tests.

I know that in pregnancy when I have GD I almost have to go completely keto. Very low carb by the end. I've always had healthy babies so I don't think it's been too much of a damage for me or for them!

Typically, a positive OPK means I'll O the following day.

Not sure what are AMH and ATA, but the rest look normal to me, unless the reference ranges are way different in your lab. Not sure why LH wasn't included in your lab though.

I called to schedule my HSG but my doc didn't submit the order AGAIN. This is the second time she forgets to submit my procedure orders in the last month.. It might be time to look for a new doctor.

If tomorrow will be the positive OPK, I think I would wait until tomorrow to BD. Then if your husband has performance anxiety tomorrow (hopefully not), try to BD again on ovulation day.

With my husband's performance anxiety, I'll be trying to time things next month like you are now. It's stressful 😕

Starlight32 it certainly is stressful. I'm just happy my DH is totally on board for all the TTC science. I tell him when to try and he tries. Even if it isn't always successful. . . But I think you are right about waiting. Thanks for the advice. :flower:

That’s what I was gonna mention. Those with GD are advised to limit their carbs

Hi ladies can anyone help? So today is cd14 and I got a positive opk this morning plus a smiley on the cb ovulation test. The thing is i skipped the flashing smiley your ment to get a day or 2 before the normal smiley. Is this ok and has anyone else had this when using cb? Also do I count today as Ovulation day and would that make tomorrow 1dpo? I'm super confused as to where I'm at please help. Cycles are around 32 days. Myself and DH have BD every night pretty much for the last week including last night,would we of been covered for ovulation? Plan to BD tonight also so is that enough? Sorry for all the questions just so confused! TIA x

From what I understand the day after your positive opk is ovulation day. I have a 31 day cycle and typically ovulate around cd19

The only way to really tell is through temping. This past cycle I got pregnant I ovulated the day after my first positive, confirmed with temp rise. The cycle previous it was 2 days. It's so hard to say, it depends when you catch the surge on a test (beginning, middle, end), how long the surge lasts...everyone is different. I think if you test long enough you learn your 'normal' but there can still be some variance.
