Twinkles- I'm sorry you're having a down day, hun. :hugs: If you're just getting EWCM I'd say that maybe your are just late O'ing this month. You should probably BD on your EWCM days just to be safe. OPK's can just not work sometimes, too, so if you're not charting your BBT yet, I highly reccommend it. It has been a godsend to me. I got a false-positive OPK this month and my RE would have called off my entire IUI cycle had I not been able to see what was going on with BBT since he didn't know if I may have possibly O'd.

Oh, and yep. I had my HSG last month. But I have been dealing with anovulation and took Clomid to O, so I don't know if there might be a connection for you. I think you are definitely on the right track with IUI and Clomid though. As far as IUI sample goes, for the RE I go to, you can either bring in a sample (you get 45 minutes to get it there!) or it can be done in-office. DH and I are going to do it at home so that we can, um... make the sample together? (Sorry, tmi.) We still want it to be us making a baby together even if it means having to RUSH to the doctors office after for the IUI. Maybe that sounds odd? I don't know. Also, my RE's nurse told me that if there is any issue with sperm count they want folks to abstain beginning on CD 10 or 11, but since my DH's count is good, it's at our discretion. I can tell you this much though, it has been GREAT not having to BD so often anymore. Bot my DH and I are so much happier. So thankful for the ability to do a timed & triggered O and IUI.

Cindylou777- Sorry you didn't have any good follies today. :hugs: CD9 is still really early though. My RE let me get to CD15 w/out maturing follies before upping my Clomid because he said even with the meds O can take a while. I will keep my FX'd that your Friday appt shows some good development!

Nadhoo- I feel for you! Still, it is very good that your scan today showed normal (even if slower) development and you got a follistim injection to speed things up. :) I bet that will do the trick and get you ready for your IUI. Keep us posted!

As for me: Well, I started taking my 100mg Clomid last night. I'll take it CD15-19. I really hope it gets things moving along! Man the hot flashes are INTENSE. I kept waking up every 15-30 minutes last night feeling sweaty and absolutely dying of heat. Yuck!! I hope tonight goes better. If the Clomid doesn't work out this time, I wonder if my RE can switch me to something else. This stuff is unbearable and every time I take it I get so incredibly sick!

Hi Ladies:

Sprinkles -- thanks for your long explanation, what would i do without this forum!!!

I knew I shouldn't have done it. But I got a second opinion from another RE now I'm utterly confused. OMgoshhhh..

So they both are in agreement to do IUI + meds. One is completely opposed to clomid saying that he doesn't recommend it for someone who is ovulating regularly. This RE wants to put me on Follitism and IUI. He checked my follies and I have a good amount apparently 7 or 8 and about to o in a few days.

The other says IUI + CLomid.

As you know the cost difference is a big difference.

Now I'm so confused. I'm on month 9 ttc so apart of me is thinking it's payback for being so impatient. However, I'm glad I checked because my FSH is at 9 and amh is 1.06 so definately borderline for my age (confirmed by both RE's).

I hope SOMEONE can give me some insight. So so confused.

Thanks in advance!

well went to the Dr. today and I have 4 follies that are 10mm i was put on 75ui of follistim for the next 3 days I have been on 50iu all week.... I am on CD 12 so praying the grow and are ready for Monday..

Twinkles: Follitism works better all around for already O'ing women from what I've heard, but either one is fine and should do the trick. If you can afford the Follitism, maybe go with that. But Clomid is cheap, so if money is a concern, you might just try it first and see how it goes.

Nadhoo: Maybe it's a little smaller, but it sounds totally fine. I will definitely keep my FX'd for you hun! I hope everything checks out great and you get your IUI. Let us all know how it goes. I'm cheering for you!

As for me: Still just chugging along on this Clomid again. Day 4 of it (on CD 18, so weird). Hopefully Monday's u/s will look good. FX'd!

Thanks sprinkles. Do you know ho many follies should show up normally? Meaning what it should be and what is ideal with meds?

Hi ladies! I haven’t been on in a while because I’ve been trying to prepare for Christmas but I just wanted to give a quick update. I had my IUI on Wednesday. The sperm didn’t “pellet” like they wanted it to but they seemed to think it would still be ok. There were 60 million sperm post wash. We only do one IUI per cycle. Still hopeful that things can and will still work out though!

Twinkles – My RE said to bring the sperm within 30 min of collecting it for an IUI. In fact, they thought the reason the sperm didn’t pellet well this time was that we didn’t make it to the clinic until just over 30 minutes after collecting the sample. We weren’t told anything about having to abstain. Like Sprinkles said, you would probably only need to do that if there is a sperm count issue.

Nadhoo – Someone on another forum told me that the follies increase in size about 1mm per day so by Monday yours should be at least 19. So you should be good!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Thank you Prayerful. Hoping for your bfp! Not sure if you already mentioned but did you do injectibles or clomid with your iui?

Thank you Twinkles! I did Clomid with Follistim and Ovidrel. My first two days of Clomid were 100mg, then 50mg for 3 days. It was supposed to just be 50mg the whole time but I used an old prescription for the first 2 days not realizing she changed it for this cycle. The Follistim I did 50IU for 3 days.

My re wants me to do clomid iui next month.

Twinkles, I am happy to answer any questions you may have (that I can anyway!) That is the reason we are all here afterall... to help each other and draw support from each other.

I did a combination of several tries on Femara alone, Femara with Ovidrel, Femara with Follistim and Ovidrel, and then Clomid with IUI all prior to this current cycle of Clomid with Follistim, Ovidrel and IUI. So far nothing has worked. I produce good follicles every time and my hubby produces lots of little swimmers but they just don't seem to be meeting properly.

Sorry if you've already posted this, but do you know yet what is causing your infertility?

Prayerful- 60 million sounds really good. And if you doctor said the pelleting thing isn't really an issue, then I am sure it will be fine. If they had really thought there was a problem, they would have told you so that you could schedule another IUI if necessary.

Sprinkles - Thanks! I am hoping that would be the case too but I know they were squeezing me in this cycle anyway so to fit in a second IUI would probably have been out of the question. I will not give up hope though! I am just going with the assumption that, as you said, they would have told me if it was a problem. Good luck with your scan on Monday!

Hey ladies! Just wanted to swing by and say hi real quick. Yesterday was Yule and it was totally, insanely awesome and hectic. DH decided to sleep in until afternoon, so we didn't even get around to opening presents and having breakfast until 2-ish. Today has been equally wonderful and this evening DH and I drove down the interstate about an hour and a half to go see the Hobbit on IMAX 3D in the super high frame rate. He has the 21st to the 1st off on paid vacation (yay for contract re-negotiations last year!) so he is in a VERY good mood. I love seeing him this happy. :D In honor of his joyousness, I might just let him play video games and play with his Lego all day tomorrow without trying to get him to do anything productive.

Twinkles- I know that most doctors like to see at least 2, but I'm not sure what the ideal would be. My RE has never said.

Cindylou777- I'm also getting my follicles checked on Monday. I hope we both get good news!!

HI Prayer: Dh had moderate agglutination first sa second all was fine. I have borderline fsh and amh. At last ultrasound (2 or 3 days before o) I had 6 to 8 follies without meds. This is why I can't decide whether to keep trying or go on clomid. How many follies did you guys have before meds?

Wow! 6-8 follies without meds. That is a lot! I was never monitored before I started taking meds so I don't know how many I had previously. With meds though I generally only have 2-3. I think this was the first time that I had 4.

Thank you prayer. That's the only thing that's making me think twice about meds. I wasn't sure however if they were mature follies or just follies, the re didn't say. Just trying to stay off meds as much as possible bur so hard To decide especially when the odds are much higher eith meds.

Thanks for your insight and fx and prayers for you!

went for a u/s yesterday and we have one Christmas follie ;) 16mm praying others get bigger going for trigger in the morning and then IUI on Thursday... PRAYING HARD

Cindylou777- GL hunny! Update after your IUI?

As for me:

Over the last couple days DH and I spent a while talking about infertility treatment options and how we feel about each of them, and I think we're going to skip out on the IUI's this month and just BD instead. DH confessed that if we can possibly do it, he'd really rather we try to conceive with just meds and monitoring for a while longer. I felt so relieved by him saying that; I've been having real anxiety about the IUI myself and doubting whether we really should try it yet or not. We've only had 4 cycles of perfectly timed BD in our 16 months of TTC because of the PCOS/anovulation issue, so maybe we just haven't gotten our lucky cycle yet. I'm going to stick with the Clomid, u/s monitoring, and, if my RE approves, still do the hCG trigger to make sure we time things right.

I'm feeling really relieved right now and so glad DH is on the same page. He doesn't usually open up and speak emotionally about things, so it means a lot to me that he spoke so honestly about how he feels, and wants to keep trying ourselves even if it takes longer. I think we're going to focus more on "us" for a while. We've gotten a bit out of sync with each other's needs over the past several months and I think we need to spend more time taking care of each other and less time focusing on the baby part of BD'ing.

PS: My u/s on Monday showed 4 follies- 3 of them between 12 and 16mm. DH ad I are going back in for another u/s tomorrow afternoon to see if I'm ready for my trigger shot. I hope all four follicles are big enough. I like those odds!

Sprinkles: I'm so glad to hear you are finding some clarity. Having a significant other who can communicate is something sooooo great! They come few and far between. I'm so glad you two are feeling a sense of relief, especially since you've only had 4 months of perfectly timed bd!

That's also quite great that your re will still monitor you with meds without iui. I have yet to ask this. I have yet to decide whether to wait or take meds as well. Hoping for a bfp, this cycle to make me not have to decide.. If that makes sense.

Follie grew to 22mm and had my trigger yesterday... IUI is set for tomorrow morning!!!! SO EXCITED and praying sooo hard <3 that this is our time...
