that is a super great idea! As long as you practice sterile technique. We aren't doing though I just think you are very resourceful. Good luck!

Hey pinksprinkles
I've been there and am planning on doing it again at the end of Feb/beginning of Mar. My DH has azoospermia so we're using a known donor that we completely trust & has been tested. Because we release the swimmers at the opening of the cervix the sperm don't need washed. I found the whole process to be a lot less stressful than in a clinic, I might even go so far as to say we had fun.
The first cycle after removing my Mirena (for the ending) I for a :bfn: but the second cycle we got a :bfp: so it really does work at home. Unfortunately though that ended up being an Ectopic pregnancy for us, most likely due to endo.
The best advice I can give is to have fun with it. The less stress the better. :)

I figured if you were going the wash and cath route that it had to be for a reason. ;-) Have you noticed there aren't a lot of heterosexual couples out there going the home route?
BTW, I'm from Co too and have family in Routt County.

I know for me I started out doing IVF ICSI & poor DH had dozens of TESE's done & we found it to be absolutely horrible. Everything they could botch they did so we wanted to avoid clinics as much as possible. Sadly, in my experience the situation makes it difficult to fit in anywhere. But that's a minor detail once you get your little miracle.

I'm curious about this - it seems so simple! I've read a bit, but so far that has been the extent of my research. Any links or helpful sources?

I can be so horrible at replying sometimes. How did your us go? Honestly, I have no advice for dealing with things. Up until recently we've been going it alone. :-/

AFM, I've been sick with a nasty cold. Feels like all I do is sleep. I go in for my HSG Tuesday. I'm a bit nervous on what they'll find.

Man that sucks! Hopefully they'll be a lot of good candidates on Friday. At least if nothing else they are finally listening to you and giving you Follistim. That's great that you found a loophole in the insurance! Home IUI just keeps on getting better and better! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the insurance comes around to our way of thinking. :-D

AFM - My HSG went good today. The catheter hurt with me (I cramped instantly so much I jumped) but the dye didn't hurt at all. My left tube is , "very open" which was making it difficult get dye through my right (same side as my ectopic). He said he *thought* he saw some flow threw the right though making him believe that it is open. As usual my right ovary was hugging my uterus, I swear it has a mind of it's own. It looks like my right side will be the one ovulating this cycle. I'm really hesitant about that right tube though so I've decided to wait a cycle. I already know that if I get another ectopic in that side that they'll want to remove my tube.
Odd Q but did you get chest and shoulder pains after your HSG? I had it done 12 hours ago and am still having those pains...

How did your ultrasound go yesterday? I hope you had lots of good follies just waiting to be released.

Long story but it turns out I had a slight allergic reaction with the HSG. Took a few days but I'm fine now. There currently aren't any plans to do anything about the tube. It probably just has less flow from my ovary liking to snuggle the uterus (damage from IVF ). We agreed though to try next cycle & just hope for the best.

I'm sick as a dog ATM but wanted to stop by & say, woohoo door getting it done! Are you a POAS addict or are you able to wait until at least dpo 14?
