Differences: US vs UK

^^ I call soda 'pop' too!! It's a midwest thing here in the US to call it pop. Southerners and the west coast seem to use 'soda'.

It seems like the UK girls are obsessed with chocolate. I can't even remember the last time I ate chocolate.

No! In the South we call it Coke. No matter which one. :haha:
"You want a coke?"
"Sure."
"Which one?"
"I'll have a Dr. Pepper."

I've never heard anyone say soda pop. The only other thing I see is on restaurant menus, they're called "soft drinks".

Also, American chocolate is no good. It's like brown wax, like another poster said. British chocolate is sooooo creamy and sweet and yummy! You should try to find some Cadbury's dairy milk. Do you have a World Market near where you live? They carry foods from all over, imported.
I must not have lived deep enough south than because living in VA they all called it soda.

I'm pretty sure most people have tried cadbury chocolate. Every easter that stuff is all over the place. It's not that spectacular compared to anything else really. Chocolate is chocolate to me. I guess I just don't get the obsession with chocolate. Give me a good old fashioned cherry pie over chocolate any day.

I'm pretty sure most people have tried cadbury chocolate. It's easily found in every store. walmart, supermarkets, etc. It's not that spectacular compared to anything else really. Chocolate is chocolate to me.

I didn't know you were from Virginia? Yes, you're right. I call it a soda as well.

Nope not from there. Just lived there for 5 years while DH was stationed there. I really miss it though. It's a great state!

Edit: I'm from Ohio originally. :flower: And we call it pop. :haha: I actually asked for a pop while living in virginia and stood there for a good five minutes explaining to the girl what pop is.

It varies SO MUCH.... the soda/pop/coke thing. Like in Virginia, that was probably middle or Northern VA? My DH is from SW VA, which is very back woods, like West Virginia. They call it pop. It annoys the heck out of me to no end, literally makes me cringe. I live in the south (TN) and call it soda, but that's because I am from CT. It flies here because I live in a larger, diverse city. I have also 'trained' my DH to say soda now. But it's most definitely "pop" in most of the south and "soda" in New England.

The US is so huge compared to the UK there are a million regional differences as well. Even just the pace of life and attitudes are different depending on where you live.

Yeah it probably was something like that so all my posts are pretty pointless :haha::blush:

I hate mayo and chocolate I can take it or leave it although it is really nice here.

THANK YOU! It is like such a stereotype here that all women just like chocolate. I don't like chocolate(it's okay, but I VERY SELDOM crave it). I love ice cream and pastries... pretty much carbs... so ehhh, yeah.. probably why I have GD right? But yeah, I don't get the awesomeness of chocolate and people look at me like I am straight stupid when I say I hate mayo.

It isn't a pointless thread.. we are obsessed with bacon here.

Add me to the mayo haters club :haha:

I think a lot of the bacon deal is an internet phenomenon and partially a joke. I like it, but I rarely have it more than once every 8 weeks or so.

Aint that the truth! Moving here to cali I HATED it at first. People are SOO rude compared to the other places I've lived. And it's all really fast paced and I just didn't like it. But it's finally been growing on me. It still doesn't beat the midwest though. :haha:

Yeah with bacon, I have it maybe once every few months. If that. :haha:

Oh yeah that's something. We have turkey everything. Turkey bacon, turkey burger. I'm pretty sure in the UK they don't have those things.

Yeh chocolate is never my first choice but I do like it.
I LOVE Denny's milkshake, we don't have it here so I haven't had any for about 4 years now :haha:
The most we get offered is a side of toast with breakfast:lol:

HA! I live in Louisa, VA now, which is Central VA... and it's like I live in the 1960s...SO and I aren't married and you'd think that I should be wearing a big red A on my shirt. My SO works for the school board, and told them he wanted FMLA for the baby's birth and they told him he couldn't take FMLA for the baby because we weren't married.....ummmm...no?

His mother calls me his "friend"...... seriously? He gets so mad and said to me, " What am I... your gay friend..."

I liked In Mississippi, Virginia Beach, and Maine.. I lived VA beach the best to be honest.

I LOVE bacon... maybe I AM JUST OBSESSED.

I was near VA beach! Chesapeake and Hampton were the two cities we lived in there but both were part of the "7 cities" there. VA beach is nice!!

Well I hate mayo, too, so I'll join the club! And I didn't like choc until I was 22, lol.

About Cadbury's, I don't think the Easter chocs are the same as Dairy Milk....

^^ I'll have to search for some dairy milk than. Maybe amazon has it! It's my go-to place for everything. :haha:

My friend that I met through here had this double decker thing from the UK and the chocolate wasn't that special on it I didn't think. She's from scotland originally but married a US guy. (You know who you are.)

Ooh I love Amazon!! I buy everything from there!! I was homebound during pregnancy, so I bought every single Christmas present from Amazon. I am on Subscribe and Save, so I get diapers, wipes, and batteries that way. I'm student so I have free shipping. For diapers I have mom's discount and subscribe and save discount. All baby stuff comes from amazon, in fact just about everything. But I digress

LOL!! I like your style! I agree amazon seems to have everything! I even just bought a care package full of junk food and they shipped it to my husbands ship overseas while he's deployed! Talk about easy shopping! (Or lazy..whatever way people want to look at it.) But it'd be hard gathering all the random junk food, packaging it up, and going to ship it all with a toddler. Instead I just clicked the buttons and someone else is doing the work for me. :haha:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=12D9598D347EASPEZY64

:haha: They have it!! I will have to add it to my 'saved cart' and get some whenever I start craving chocolate. :D

Wow, that's expensive... though i guess that if I liked chocolate more then i wouldn't care if it cost that much. OH likes chocolate though, maybe he'll get it. He likes to go to the World Market and get all the unusual chocolates too.

I wonder how much a single bar in the store would be. That's for a pack of 24 bars but still over a dollar a bar obviously. :haha: Walmart would sell them wouldn't they?

I would think so... don't they have everything at Wal-mart? I'll have to check it out and see.
