Differences: US vs UK

oh kool aid is vile. I was shocked at how much sugar you're supposed to add too

huge amount considering they only fill the jug half way!

o okay maybe i don't want some anymore

For the girls who were saying about not liking chocolate: Cadbury's isn't that great in my opinion! You'd be better off trying Divine, Green and Black's or Lindt. Of the specialist chocolate shops we get here, Thornton's is probably the worst! I much prefer the stuff you can get from Hotel Chocolat, based on the ones I've tasted from their chocolate tasting club! I'm a bit of a chocolate connoisseur really! Not keen on anything with under 50% cocoa solids, prefer dark chocolate, prefer flavours in the actual chocolate rather than as a filling to a chocolate shell, etc! I went a couple of weeks before I came to uni where I ate nothing but 80% cocoa solids dark chocolate and drank nothing but fruit smoothies and tea! It was an expensive habit!:dohh:

Something that I found when I went on a school trip to Washington DC and New York City in 2006 was that it was virtually impossible to find tea, as in normal 'British' black tea that you drink hot in a cup with sugar and milk! I was not a happy bunny when I realised that I had to go just over a week without a cuppa! Ended up drinking hot chocolate and juice and having the occasional flavoured iced frappe from Starbucks (I didn't mind too much as long as it didn't taste of coffee!)! I also noticed that cash wasn't used as much, and coins almost not at all! We went into a cafe off Broadway after seeing a show and ended up getting a free large piece of brownie because the waiter felt sorry for the poor British girls as we went to pay with about $15 dollars in coins! In Britain it's normal almost to pay in coins, and certainly in notes! Something I loved though was that beef seemed to be served medium-rare as standard! In Britain medium or well-done is more of a standard! The way the musical I went to see was staged was weird to me! As far as I'm concerned, musicals aren't generally meant to be audience participation events, unless they're something like Rocky Horror, but apparently the production team and cast of Chicago on Broadway didn't agree and I was made to feel quite awkward and annoyed when they stopped in the middle of a number to get the audience to sing/clap/dance along! :dohh: I was really disappointed as I was really looking forward to that bit of the trip!

Beca

I love cadburys and milka. But the cadburys I got last time I was in america was made by hersheys so it wasn't nice at all. The main difference I find in america is that everything is so big! The cars, the fridges, the milk cartons . . . And they had a butter pump at the cinema for popcorn and a ketchup pump in mcds. I don't know how people stay skinny in america, I wouldn't have the self control! Also I always say america but americans always correct me and say the US since america to them includes central and south america

Well I hate mayo, too, so I'll join the club! And I didn't like choc until I was 22, lol.

About Cadbury's, I don't think the Easter chocs are the same as Dairy Milk....

They don't use the same chocolate in the Easter eggs, it's not as nice at all  so I usually get myself a Thorntons' egg and a bar of dairymilk

^^ I'll have to search for some dairy milk than. Maybe amazon has it! It's my go-to place for everything.

I see you're in San Diego .. there are a couple of World Markets there .. they have an English section and LOADS of cadburys chocolate .. they even have Easter Eggs for a price .. go here: https://www.worldmarket.com/storeLocator/index.jsp?ab=header:storelocator and put in your zip code. I LOVE this store .. always satisfies my cravings .. I can get salad cream and marmite there too :)

Not gonna lie, some of that looks/sounds delicious. The meat ones make me gag  what's with all the bacon?!

the tenth tghread about differences :haha:. I for one by the way prefer German cor swiss chocolate to either american or UK chocolate. and German sweets in general are better too :p

American schoolign confuses me!
here we have nursery (under 5's)
reception (5)
then year 1-6 is called primary school (ages 5-11/12)
year 7-11 is secondary school (ages 11-16)
college is a choice you dont have to thats age 16 +
then university is 17/18+ again you dont have to go!

english schools are different to scottish schools too.

here we have

nursery (3-5 year olds depending on when their birthday is)
primary 1-7 (4 or 5-11 or 12)
s1-4 (til you're 16)
then you can stay on and do s5 or s6 if you want to continue with your highers :)

Yeah with bacon, I have it maybe once every few months. If that. :haha:

Oh yeah that's something. We have turkey everything. Turkey bacon, turkey burger. I'm pretty sure in the UK they don't have those things.
Germany is good with turkey :haha:

Turkey cold cuts, turkey on the barbie, turkey sausages :haha:

I think you have to stay on but you can do either academics and get a-levels etc or go down a vocational route and do work based learning, i could be wrong though

aww right, its all new to me. I have no idea.

I love that there is so much more autism awareness in the US. The uk is slowly catching on but we are still far behind. x

The one thing I am glad of in the UK is gun laws as guns scare the heck out of me!

Not gonna lie, some of that looks/sounds delicious. The meat ones make me gag  what's with all the bacon?!

That's not all normal American food. Donuts- check... cupcakes-check.... some of that other stuff is insane. You might eat some of that crap at a fair or something. Those are not regulars on an American's diet.

I think we are fat because we don't exercise.....and larger servings over time.....but not like some of those pictures!

We like carbs too- and that will make you fatter than most of those sweets will.

And bacon is awesome!

We have preschool(toddlers)
Pre-k(4 year olds)
Kindergarten(5 year olds)
Elementary school (age 6 to 10)
Middle School(age 11 to 13)
High School(14 to 17)

After that is College, which is voluntary.

I know its really really wrong but I now so want a deep fried ham and cheese sandwich with maple syrup.
