Do most women poo when pushing?

I didnt, i even asked my MW, (she was a student) she said in her 50+ births she had attended NOT ONE woman had poo'd! She felt like she was missing out

then i asked the qualified MW and she said it hardly ever happened, and the ones who did tended to be inductions... i'm guessing because your body wouldnt have the clearout maybe?? I dunno.

I can honestly say that would have been more embarrassing than the entire labour !!!

What if you poo in the birthing pool? would they fish it out or something? IT'S A FLOATER!! lol

i did :haha: , i wouldnt of known if my partner hadnt of told me lol

i was in too much pain to realise , i left my dignity at the door and picked it up on the way out

could be true, i was induced and pooped

Yes, they would fish it out. It's one of the reasons you couldn't pay me to sit in a birthing pool. You'll never convince me that its sanitary

:haha: Haha I always wondered about this!!! Puts me off a water birth lol!!!!

I've heard most do....hope I don't but I guess I'll be a bit preoccupied to care lol...says a lot about labour if you can say you're gonna be too preoccupied to care if you've just crapped yourself....hmm....

i didnt but i had a 'clearout' a few hours before tho. When i had the first urge to push i thought i needed to poo so ran, yes RAN! To the loo because i couldnt take the gas and air! Then decided that i didnt need to poo, i needed to push! So its not suprising women do poo. It feels like the same kind of pressure! Xxx

My mum never did with any of her six but she said that she frequently went to the toilet to make sure she wasnt going to poo whilst in labor.
So nope not everyone does.

ive heard it's alot less common than people think. no woman in my family has ever pooed while giving birth (this includes my mum, nans and aunts) and there have been 15+ kids born into it lol

even if it does happen i really doubt you'll even notice, let alone care x

I didnt poo with my first but was terrified I would, almost every one of my friends did and I will be mortified if it happens this time. I figure that it was because I was induced and prepared myself for it, I even asked if I could have an enema before hand lol

Yep some ladies do poo :haha: it depends how full your bowels are!! Try empty them at the early stages of labour, as when the head is coming down the birth canal it can push the bowel contents out!! My sister & best mate both pooed!! They were both completely unaware until their lovely OH's let them know afterwards  MW's see it all the time, and they quickly clear it away!! Still not nice though!! x

I didn't! I really expected to but nope.
I did go alot the day before I had her and like 4 hours before she came so maybe I was lucky!

I didn't at the actual time but the first stages of labour I thought I had the runs and was confussing contractions for tummy pains so I'd pushed it all out ahead of time I think

I didn't, as far as myself and dh know, in either of my births but generally midwives deal with it discreetly so try not to worry.

I did with both of mine but both were inductions so no clear outs. It's horrible when you think about it before and after but at the time it's a case of as long as the baby comes out it doesn't matter what else does!!!!

I may have done. I remember the midwife putting some of the paper from that "end" in the bin, but it could have been anything yucky as there is so much going on down there :haha:

If you look at the pictures of the home bith pool kits they come with a sieve! enough to put me off:)
If you do poo then the midwife will try to whip it away as quietly as she can, its not like you will be able to do anything about it anyway :)

This was my worst fear and the thing i worried about more than labour and unfortunately i did with both of mine:(( I dont think everyone does but i wouldnt worry about it the midwifes are used to it!! I kept apologising and she told me not to worry!!x

Most people do/will end of day you wouldnt even know or care as everything will feel so built up with pressure down there! if you did the midwife would clear it so fast you wouldnt even know and unless your husband is at that end examining carefully neither would he...

Where im at they offer you an enema or dippositries to clear you out to prevent this... maybe ask about that if your worried?

one of our clients is a midwife and she said that most women do but wouldnt know about it as MW clean it up and dont say anything, she also said that if you do then pat yourself on the back as it means your pushing properly lol

so to all us ladies in labour, have a poo! :D x
