Do most women poo when pushing?

I poo'd twice whilst having Daisy , but only found out last week when OH told me .. apparently it was moved very quickly though so it wouldn't upset me i guess

i belive it's very common but i'm hoping it won't happen this time , I kinda wish OH had left me beliveing it never happened as i'm sure i'll be watching out for it this time round now

Just logged on and noticed the response to this... pretty mixed I think. I honestly didnt really care whether I would or not, just DH hasnt exactly been the perfect supportive husband, he talks about his ex's labour is if it was nothing as she had an epidural and felt nothing and it totally infuriates me (in response to an early thread I really dont mind discussing the experience he had with his Ex, it isnt that that upsets me), to the point where last night I told him I was on the verge of saying I wanted to do labour on my own, he got really upset and cant see how he isnt being supportive so I have put it down to me being hormonal...

Thing is I don't even fart in front of him so the thought of actually pooing freaked me out a bit but it seems that its all dealt with really quickly and I probably wouldn't even know so thanks to everyone for your support... Not long for me now, I will let you all know on my Birth Story whether I poop or not lol :blush:

Really!? How long have u guys been together? I remember not farting in front of my OH at the start of our relationship but that soon went ou of the window after I let one go by accident  hahaha!! My best mate has been with her fella for 9yrs, have 2 kids (pooed in front of him once during her 1st labour) and STILL doesn't fart in front of him OR poo when he's in the house!!! x

I'm no expert, but did train to be a nurse a few years ago, and spent some time on maternity. Of the 4 births I watched, 3 poo'd, 1 didn't, but as there is so much other gunk and stuff I swear that no man would have known anyway, and the midwives are so used to it they just move it quickly and really discretly. Having said that, one of the women did realise and kicked off really badly, shouting and screaming cos she'd done it, her hubbie wouldn't have known if she'd just kept quiet!!
Having said that, it is something i was worried about until i went into labour, then, as someone else put it, i left my dignity at the door and couldn't care less it was so painful!!

So now Im thinking if I can keep him up the top end with me unti she is actually out he will never know hahaha...

Well we were together for a few years when we were teenages, split up for 10yrs then got back together, we have only been back together for 18month and for 5month of that we have been married, not long really and I honestly dont know why but I wont even go for a wee if he is in the area lol, its no wonder Im anxious about having the baby in front of him!!!

Thing is he honestly couldnt give a hoot, I could fart away and he wouldnt care, its me that cares! Im a freak! x

I just told my DH last night that I wasn't sure how I felt about who was in the labor and delivery room and that I was gonna have firm ground rules about people being from the waist up... lol...he said it was too early to even discuss it. I disagree I told him if I have fears or concerns about things it's never to early and he should be more supportive :)

I do have a long ways to go, but I'm not even sure I want my DH in the room at our checkup on sept 16th as they are doing an internal scan...not sure I even want him in there...I'm way to modest.

Awww how sweet!!! Hehe!! That's what I thought, until one accidently slipped out and my OH was in absolute stitches and thought it was hilarious!!! How have u coped being pregnant around him!? I haven't farted so much in my whole entire life so I feel for u if u have had to hold them in all this time  lol x

I think I have just been really fortunate :happydance: I havent had a lot of wind, I remember with DS I farted like a trooper but I was single so it wasnt so much of an issue when in the house by myself hahaha

My sister asked me the same thing 'how do you not fart in front of him I cant keep mine in at all' (she is 25weeks preg now) and I had to laugh cos she has ALWAYS farted loads!!!!! I feel so sorry for her husband!!

I have never poo'd with any of my 5 but i've never had an epidural (well 2 failed lol), so maybe that makes a difference.

I just asked my Mum about it and she said she never but they gave her an enema before labour! That may be why Mum, they dont do that now... oh lord! x

Er I am not sure you actually know whether you did or not. if you are lying down in labour and pushing and you poo a bit then MW will just wipe it away and you'll be none the wiser.

However, must people empty their bowels in early labour. its natures way of clearing you out before you push the baby out.

Yep i've been with my hubby for 10years and I would never ever ever fart or poo or even let him know I am going for a poo. I have a thing about it I think. And he applies me the same courtesey thank god!

Well when I found out about pooing in labour I found it hilarious!!!! No idea why, but I found it really funny, then it could have been the horrified look on my husbands face when I read it out from my pregnancy book, he thought I was making it up. I was watching The Backup Plan the other day (Jennifer Lopez film) and a woman was having a water birth and up popped her poo and someone instantly came along and scooped it out with a little net!! Very funny!

If I poo I poo, I dont really care, I think I'll have more pressing things on my mind!!

I have had 2 girls and NEVER did poo. (Funny but it was the first question I asked after I gave birth...LOL) Your body should empty them natural before. I had to go to the bathroom worse than I ever have before! Sometimes if you are going to be induced they will offer you a laxitive, or enema or you can ask...On the bright side....Even if we do a little poo, it comes out of a diff hole and it will go in the bag of stuff that comes out of you, you would prob never know. At least we have a baby! LOL Good Luck!!

TBH you're really not gonna care less whether you poo or not when pushing and believe me, if it' going to come out there is not a damn thing you can do about it! Plus, in all honesty, even if you do you probably won't even know! I thought I had, I asked my DH and he assured me I didn't. I was really worried about it before but when the time comes you could fart out god save the queen and you wouldn't bat an eyelid!!

I did this time .... BUT it was my sixth baby and natural birth and the only time I've done it lol!! I started freaking out about it cos I felt it come out but they midwives got cross with me and said everyone does cos it's the same muscles and not to let it worry me! Worry me? I was mortified!!!

I'm worried about pooing too! I'm scared my husband will be disgusted and never look at me sexually again! It's ridiculous though, he's sooo not that kind of guy, and he's already been warned several times that it's a possibility, and he doesn't seem too bothered by it.
jollygood - I don't know if this will make you feel better, but my best friend has been with her husband for 13 years, married for over 5 of those years, and has never farted in front of him or even talked about farts or poo. It's not her choice (she's a total fart machine), he is the kind of guy who finds that kind of stuff disgusting...with her first child, she didn't poo. She did with her second one, and her husband didn't even care, he just saw it as a part of the birthing process.

I've never known anyone to poo themselves, well I say that.. but the only people ive actually got to go on are my mum, sister, aunty and myself lol. Between us thats 11 births with no poo! I did wee myself on my first tho, the midwife thought it was my waters and haad me pushing for 3 hours before she realised my waters were still intact :haha:

I had a catheter in when preg with DS... although I needed a section I fully dilated and I can remember when that feeling comes that it is SOOO similar to when you need to poo, to be honest I probably would have pood myself them as I hadnt had one for 24hrs and the feeling was so similar... I actaually swore at my Mum who was saying it was baby and not poo and I was saying 'I think I know when I need a poo' hahaha

I had no husband when I was having DS tho, just my Mum and sister, and I wouldnt have cared about pooping in front of them haha.

If it happens it happens I fully understand that and I probably wont give a hoot at the time when it does happen, it just makes me Mad when DH informs me that something WILL happen during labour when he cant possibly know for sure! The swine lol x

 I can remember the very same argument when I was in labour with DS1!! I was soooo sure I needed a poo, my mum and the midwife even gave in in the end and let me get up and go to the bathroom, as long i as i left the door ajar, I think I went in the bathroom about 5 times before I finally admitted that I actually didn't need a poo after all :haha:
