Doing/Making Things for baby?

I'd go nuts trying to sew together stretchy stuff like baby clothes, lol!

I have kept a journal writing my feeling and thoughts throughout this pregnancy some day by day and some week by week so one day this baby will be able to read all about how we felt about him xx

I'm making a swaddling blanket for Peanut...so easy to do so not worth paying £15 or more in the shops. I was also planning to make a nursing cover for myself.

I love the idea of making a quilt of all the sleepsuits. I need to go through my sons...lots of them got yucky milkstains so might make something out of them for peanut

Great idea would love to try this myself, how, where have you found a pattern or are you just doing it yourself? i have tried to knit but not getting very far but i can sew and have access to a sewing machine.

Just google "sewing nursing cover/swaddling blanket" and there are lots of instructions. :flower:

i plan on making picture scrap books, i have the content, have one album i want to use for sure, waiting to buy the other one

1 - the making off (bc i had ICSI)
2 - week by week

with what i want to do though, i sort of need to know WHAT baby is going to be,
then i can go nuts and buy lots of scrap book and art materials

I'm doing a pregnancy journal. Sewing some diaper covers and a blanket and I'm also knitting a sock, mitt and hat set although I'm not sure I'll ever finish as I have no motivation after finishing the first sock :(

Finished my quilt!

First.. my 'proof' that I made it, lol

Then, shots of the finished quilt! Buster helped me baste my layers together :)

I'm making a large baby quilt with baby yarn. I have blue and pink squares in the middle, outlined in long strips of yellow and green.

I'm also gathering everything and putting it into my pregnancy week by week book. I record everything.

oh how pretty lisa! I wish I could sew quilts! I made one once, years ago, but it took me almost two years!

I am making felt woodland stuffed animals (probably mainly owls to match our theme) because we have a forest/woodland theme and they are easy to hand sew while I am watching t.v. So far I have one owl finished.

I am also writing a weekly journal for me and another journal written TO the baby to be given when he/she grows up. (It already has prompts on every page, so I don't have to think about what to write).

In the next few weeks, I am going to start decorating the nursery and have some other fun ideas for some things to make! :)

That is lovely, clever you! And how adorable is your little helper, Buster. These pics really made me smile :D

That is such a great quilt! I've love to make a little patchwork quilt. Hobbycraft has such pretty prints.

After a lot of struggle I've finally taught myself to crochet a granny square, lol. Hoping to find out the baby's gender next week and I'll get some yarn for a blankie! My mom used to crochet all the time so I feel like I'm carrying something on. I can knit too but I'm not stellar at it, scarves and hats are about my limit. I think I'll leave that to grandma!

I have a few plans,
I'm making a baby journal, writing and pictures week by week,
I'm also making a mobile myself, you can find them on the internet,
and the other night I learned to sew and made the little one a sewn owl to put on the nursery wall!
:) I'll take a photo of the owl once I'm home and i'll put it up here. Had the idea online, my version isn't half as good but it's my first attempt at sewing heeh.
Wish I could make a quilt like that.!

One other thing I want to do, not strictly baby-related, but I have so many photos on my computer of my hubby and me and family that I've never bothered to get printed. Some day I'm bound to lose them and that would be a shame! I'm going to make an effort to finally get them done and make some proper family photo albums.

I've knitted a teddy (Light green wearing a pair of dark green trousers) and I'm part way through knitting a blanket. Once I've finished that one I'll be knitting another blanket for my (ex) step-mum who's due in July.

I'm putting together a baby photo album (so far only have 9 and 12 week scan pics in there) that'll be built up over time, not only with scan pictures but with growing up pictures too.

I'm planning on making a couple of material toys like rattles and material cubes, though these will be stitched by hand as I don't have a sewing machine due to not getting on with them.

Lisa, I love your quilt! I'd love to make one too but it would take forever, having to sew by hand!

I am crocheting a few blankets and plan to try my hand at quilting once we move. I'm going to make at least one coordinating quilt so that I can sew it to the back of one of the crocheted blankets in the winter for her. I also plan to paint the nursery with lily of the valley, mays birth flower. I'm debating whether to get a roll of white paper to put on the wall to do this or to use a white sheet, as we are renting and I'd like to be able to take it with us when we finally get a house of our own someday. I'm leaning toward a sheet because I think it will be more durable, the paper would get fragile and rip eventually... Unless I get it laminated... Hmmm... Lol!

alienbabe- quilting by hand takes less time than you'd think on a small quilt and if you do straight lines... obviously would still take a few weeks if you worked hard on it every evening but it does go pretty fast. I machine quilted though because I wanted to be 100% sure it got DONE, lol!

Ember - I once did a huge night-sky thing for my office... I cheated and used a bedsheet (navy blue) so I wouldn't have to paint the whole sky. I stretched and stapled it to the wooden frames you use for stretching canvas.
Then I just did stars with glitter and paint etc.

Came out well, but I should warn you that sheets stretch unfortunately! So as they get wet with paint etc, it won't look as good. You might do well by doing several small/medium canvases and hanging them together in a sort of mosaic/mural style!
Just a suggestion! :)
