How much alcohol do you have now you're pregnant? I very rarely have a little bit to drink like half a beer or a small glass of wine with a meal but no more than once every 2 weeks. I always feel guilty and worried after.

I thought I'd have a glass of wine with my Christmas dinner but now we are going to France on NY's day to stay with dp's family and they drink lots of wine with their meals. I love the wine when we go their but don't want to drink too much because I don't want to put my baby at risk. DP says everyone drinks wine with their meal even when pregnant and one glass won't hurt. Just the same as pregnant women don't stop eating mould ripened cheese etc in France and I'm not bothered by that because I agree that the risk is small but with alcohol it's hard to know what's safe.

Aww hon, I wouldn't worry. A couple of drinks over the holidays shouldn't harm the baby. I'll be doing the same for Christmas and New Years. I honestly don't see the harm in it. Quite a few girls have mentioned they had a few drinks during their pregnancy and the babies turned out just fine. Its really if you over do it that their might be a cause to worry (as in drinking all the time and everyday). So I say, have some wine! enjoy your holidays :hugs:

I have heard its never ok to drink any kind of alcohol while carrying a baby, but things are very different in other cultures. I would just ask your doctor but I'm sure they will tell you to not drink any.

Good luck with everything and I hope y'all have fun out there!

I've never been a drinker, but once I got my BFP and it was a no-no that's all I wanted (even though I haven't had any), lol

I have heard having a glass of wine every now and again won't hurt the baby but I've always been taught that drinking any alcohol is a big no-no during pregnancy so I'm steering clear of it until the baby arrives.

Having known someone with fetal alcohol syndrome, it's enough for me not to touch a drop until after the peanut is born, and probably til after I'm done breastfeeding (though there might be some exceptions if I have enough stored/pumped that I could substitute for a couple days to get the alcohol out of my system if i had a drink...). But I do know that in other countries, opinions about alcohol in childbirth are different than here. I would ask a doctor, and go with what they say. You don't want to take any chances on the health of your LO.

I knew I had seen and responded to a similar thread a few weeks ago.

since 34wk ive had 3 half pints of beer, not all at once.
deffo wont be saying no to a drink over xmas. :)

Your liver responds to alcohol as if it is a toxic poison,so I dont know if it could be good for your unborn baby that has nothing to protect itself from the alcohol? I dont know. Just guessing. I wont be touching alcohol until I have given birth. If something goes wrong I dont want to look back and say, "I should of...,I could of...." and have regrets. It's only 9 months of your life and it goes by quickly. At the end of the day it is your decision. Merry xmas to all!:happydance:

personally iv never been a drinker i dont like the effects of it but if i was a drinker i wouldnt totch a drop whilst pregnant iv heard so much about what it can do to a unborn baby, i dont gudge people that feel its ok to have a few drinks when pregnant its just i feel that if theres any kind of risk to something then its best to avoid it all together.

I havnt had a drink since 11th August, I found out I was pregnant on the 12th of August!!

I don't due it, because i hate it when people have a bump n a ciggy or glass of ale! looks so horrid

I heard it is ok to have a glass of wine or two, but I never had the courage to go for it....

I personally don't think its good to drink while pregnant at all. I would just hate myself if something was wrong with the child when they were born and always wonder if I could have prevented it. :(
