Experience going off BCP

Thanks Webby! I think my cervix is soft, but I've only just started checking! Poor hubby has said he can't keep up with all the BD so today is the last day of the marathon haha!

Webby how is the TWW going? I like alexanne's suggestion of keeping yourself busy!

Sounds like you've had quite a marathon. Good that you've got all your bases covered! TWW is actually going okay. I'm feeling quite chilled. I guess it's because I don't know 100% if I definitely ovulated so I'm waiting for my appointment tomorrow where they'll take a blood test and then once I get those results back, if I did ovulate, then by that time, there won't be be much left of the TWW! Obviously I'm hopeful - it would be awesome if it all worked out first time on clomid but am trying to not get my hopes up too much.

You got any plans to keep yourself busy during your TWW?

Hi gals. We got our results back. DH has enough swimmers but they aren't swimming. For me, my FSH was higher than normal (15.6) which isn't good news. I didn't have a chance to ask questions as I'm at work but reading online it looks like I have a very low chance of getting pregnant using my eggs and if I do get pregnant, high chance of miscarriage. Sorry to be the bummer of the group. Right now I'm trying to wrap my mind around this without becoming depressed. I emailed my doctor with a few questions. They do want to test again. I suppose to be sure. If it turns out to be a worse case scenario, I'll probably disappear from here. I don't want to bring you guys down with my tough situation and maybe there's a board for this specific situation. I'll let you know once I know more. Thanks for listening to me!

Oh Alexanne of course we're here to listen! And, we're here for you on this thread whatever. If you fancy some time out from it, I completely understand but please don't feel like you're dragging us down. Each of us have a different journey and it's been super lovely having you all here to listen and to have support and we will continue to do that for you.

Good news about DH having enough sperm but I'm sorry that they're not swimming. Also sorry about your FSH levels. I'm really hoping that you'll be able to talk it through all clearly with the obgyn and that there is a way forward. Assisted fertility and medicine have come so far so
I'm sure there's still plenty of hope for you and I am for sure sending you lots of hope your way and a big hug too.

So I jumped the gun. I could have sworn the nurse rep told me my FSH needed to be between 3.8-8.8 and it's at 15.6. After I messaged them wondering what my chances were to get pregnant and they then tell me I'm still in the normal range and that range is 4.6-21.5. They also tell me I can still get pregnant even if I have to use fertility treatments in the future. What the heck. I read online that if your FSH is over 12 some fertility clinics won't take you. Very confused now. Way to give me a heart attack and make me feel stupid after crying it out with my sister!

As for my long cycles she recommended acupuncture and/or herbal meds. I'm going to try both.

Sorry for posting that depressing post for nothing!

ETA: For DH's issue, he is overweight and doesn't exercise or eat healthy. I'm hoping this will make him kick it in gear as being healthier will help his issue.

Phew! Well I'm glad that it wasn't as bad as you were originally thinking! This is definitely still possible for you - some of my friends swear by acupuncture to help regulate their cycles.

As for DH, the good news is that he has a good spermies count so I am sure some minor lifestyle changes like a bit of exercise and healthy eating will make a big difference to his sperm swimming.

And don't feel stupid - there is so much to take in! And then we go and google everything as well which helps or doesn't help matters lol. These clinics are so used to all of this and saying different acronyms and level numbers etc. that they sometimes forget what it means to us and that it is new to us as well.

We're still here for you during this journey xxx

Sorry to hear that your journey of ttc has become complicated alexanne. Keeping my Fx'd that everything will come into place for you to make a baby. Baby dust to ya!

As for me I just started my first "real" period since coming off the bcp about a month ago. Pretty relieved that I was lucky enough to only be 3 days late rather than having irregular periods for months on end. Really hoping these next couple months will be kind to me and my SO. either way, we will have fun trying.

Alexanne thanks for sharing your update with us. I'm sorry to hear your hubby's swimmers aren't swimming. It sounds like it's fixable tho with a change of lifestyle? You must be relieved about your doctors update re your normal levels, although I appreciate how confusing it must be!! Keep asking those questions and I completely reiterate everything that Webby so beautifully said; please never feel that you're bringing us down, we'd love to try and support you in any way we can!

Webby you must have your appointment soon? I hope it goes well. I have my appointment in a few days so looking forward to hearing how yours goes!

So I'm approx 3 or 4 dpo (assuming O is confirmed). It's far too early for any symptoms but crikey my nipples are SORE! They hurt to touch. I've read that can be due to progesterone which increases regardless of conception so not reading too much into it until O is confirmed, but it's quite uncomfortable!

Puppylove it sounds like your cycle is going back to normal almost straight away, that's awesome!! How is AF after coming off BCP? Hope it isn't too bad for you.

K8nz- you know, I was expecting worse. On the pill I was getting pms symptoms earlier on as each cycle passed and they were getting worse. I chalked it up to my body changing. And I had been on the same pill (switched from authentic to generic) for 6 years. Now that I'm off the pill aside from constipation and bloating, my pms symptoms were a cake walk. Now that I'm on my period it's pretty heavy and my back hurts pretty good. Other than that I feel great! I'm surprised that my periods are easier to deal with off the pill rather than on. Weird huh?

Puppylove - all sounding good for you! Hopefully it will stay that way and your TTC journey will be a smooth one

K8nz - sore nipples are horrible! I remember having them for a few days about a month off the pill and it was so distracting! One day it felt like they were burning. I hope it's a good sign for you that all your hormones are doing the right thing.

I had sore breasts a few days after suspected ovulation - I put it down to the progesterone pills I'm taking. Other than that I've the odd tender breast moment and cramps in lower abdomen and back over the last couple of days but nothing major. I went to have my blood test yesterday and she said I would hear back either tomorrow or Thursday if ovulation was successful. I'm now starting to worry that I haven't actually ovulated... Fertility Friend hasn't confirmed it because my temps were high before suspected ovulation. I guess there's nothing I can do till I find out. At least when I do get the results me they are positive, it won't be long till I find out if we've been successful in conceiving...we'll see!

Thank you all so much for your kind words! This journey has definitely been a roller coaster so far. DH is getting tested again Friday and I will get tested again as soon as AF shows which probably won't be until the beginning of next month. The plan is to then meet with my doctor face to face so I can get any/all confusion out of the way and make sure I understand the results. I also plan on making an acupuncture appointment for next week.

Puppylove - So glad AF showed up pretty much on time! Hopefully everything goes smoothly here on out.

k8nz - Hope you O'd for sure! Sore nipple are not fun at all! Mine still get sore/tender here and there but I also don't read too much into it. I'm assuming it's because our bodies are changing during different parts of our cycle. I don't remember things like this happening before BCP but I guess I wasn't looking for them.

Webby - Oh no! I hope you did O! That sucks that it takes so long for them to get back to you on your results. Keeping my fingers crossed that you get positive results!

So I'm super confused today! I went to the toilet and for fun I thought I'd do an OPK (what on earth was I thinking!) and it came back POSITIVE!! What the heck. My cervix is still high and very soft, and I have white gluey type CM (not EWCM) so I am completely and utterly confused. I'm really really hoping I'm not O'ing around this time as DH is away so no BD time! Anyway, I have my blood tests tomorrow morning, so will find out about O - that's why I was wondering if they can tell when you O, not just that you did or didn't

That's confusing k8nz! How many days past O do you think you are? I'm hoping that with the weird CM maybe it's a positive sign for you(!) or sometimes people ovulate twice on clomid - but I'm not sure if it happens that far apart. Also, apparently we can have more than one LH surge during a cycle.

I've also had weird CM - kind of really shiny. I was actually tempted to take an OPK test but has run out but it's been bugging me because my cervix has also been high and soft quite a lot. I figured it was perhaps the estrogen pills.

I didn't get a phone call today She did say Wed or Thurs so hopefully tomorrow. When I do hear I'll give you answers. I'll ask if they know when I O'd if it does turn out positive.

PS - Alexanne, glad they're testing again. I always think it's worth doing it twice to make double sure and I'm glad you'll then be able to go in face to face to talk everything through.

Oh Webby that's so annoying that they didn't call! Waiting is the worst part, especially for someone as impatient as me!

I should be approx. 5 or 6 dpo - so really confused! The cm isn't fertile (it's typical "school glue") so thinking I'm not O'ing again or now.. but yeah the positive OPK has completely thrown me! Oh well, will just have to wait for my test results.

Yeh CM doesn't sound like your O-ing again. Hopefully that happened a few days ago as you said Unfortunately, though, as you said, waiting to find out is the worst part!

Okay, so I did another few OPKs because it was driving me nuts, and they were negative so maybe it just picked up on a particular surge of LH? LH is running through us at all times anyway, so might have been a freak thing.. who knows!!

I had my blood test this morning, hoping to hear back later today otherwise I have to wait until Monday given it's Friday today, wahhh!

Webby, hoping you hear back today re your results and that they're good news!

Hope you hear back soon! I didn't get a phonecall today (argh!) but by the time I realised, they were shut, so I might give them a ring tomorrow. I've actually been quite busy today so haven't thought much about it and I've welcomed the distraction as I was starting to feel a bit down yesterday thinking about it all.

My breasts are quite tender today and have mild cramps and also a mild earache. Trying not to look into things but it's hard and seems to be harder when you're specifically trying not to think about it lol!

Glad your tests were negative - you don't need that extra worry right now! Hope you hear back tomorrow about your blood tests and that it is good news. Keep us posted xx

Hi girls, an update from me... Ovulation confirmed!!! My level was 18 (totes going to Google that now!) so they think I either O'd a bit early, or a bit late.. kinda unhelpful haha but she said she suspects late, which would be about right as I think O was CD16.

She said to call back in 7 days if AF hasn't shown and they'll send me for a PT.

Honestly, I am SO relieved. But at the same time, super impatient and curious to see what happens next. If we aren't successful this cycle, at least I know I can O and we have been getting lots of practice in.
