Experience going off BCP

Hey! Glad clomid is not too bad, but sorry about the hot flashes! I didn't experience any of those... I don't think. I live somewhere very hot and humid so I'm constantly sweaty hehe.

No positive OPKs (only taken two) but when i took it out the digital yesterday afternoon, the line was nearly as dark at the test line, so I'm hoping there will be one soon! Plus, last night I had some nice ewcm which got me excited!

I've got my next appointment tomorrow afternoon just to check up on how things are going - so I'll keep you posted on that!

k8nz, when are you doing to start using opks?
hope all is good alexanne xx

Hi ladies, hope all is going well! Thanks for the advice. I met with my doctor (did a pap with her last year) and she was amazing. She was very understanding and ready to go. She said I may have PCOS and we'll have to do testing on CD 3 and 21. She also mentioned metformin and other ovulation drugs that would be the next step. I'm just waiting for AF to show up which based on prior months could be this Friday or sometime next week. Hoping it's sooner rather than later as I'm suppose to be out of town 8th-10th but my DH and I decided that this will come first. Otherwise it's be another month and a half before I could do labs!

She also suggested acupuncture. Do either of you have experience in that? DH will also be doing his test next week. I'm hoping my (or his)insurance covers something out of all this. I know for infertility treatments I have to get approval but we aren't there yet. Did your insurance cover any of these things (first appointments, labs, meds)?

It sounds like O is just around the corner Webby! Looking forward to hearing how the doctors appointment goes.

alexanne I'm so pleased to hear that your doctor was amazing!! It's all about finding the right one :)

I have seen many women on here talk about acupuncture and some seem to think it helps. Personally, I will never do acupuncture - last year I had it done on my back, the needle went straight through and punctured my lung and my lung collapsed! Not very common but it's put me off nevertheless.

Good question about insurance. I had to pay for my first appointment with my obgyn because I self-referred. All blood tests etc are free in my country so I'm lucky I don't need to worry about that :) I would imagine that any treatments should be covered though.

Alexanne - so pleased your doctor was understanding. It really does make all the difference. Well done for going. As for insurance, my insurance covers it but I have a 10% co-pay. My obgyn said that insurance companies can be funny with fertility stuff but since I have a genuine abnormality, I'm covered. My husband is lucky enough to have 100% coverage on his insurance and if we ever needed more advanced fertility testing, then I would be covered on that which is good to know. But to be honest, insurance always confuses me and I don't think I'll ever understand it completely!

No positive OPK yet.. But I guess I'm only CD 11. It will be interesting to see what the obgyn says tomorrow - hope everything is looking good.

I've heard good things about acupuncture and I was so tempted to go this cycle to help my thin uterine lining but my insurance doesn't cover it and I just couldn't bring myself to justify paying $150 for it. It's not something I'd rule out for future use though. If you do go, make sure you go to one that comes recommended for helping with women's fertility and cycles.

K8nz - any more hot flashes? When do you finish your last pill?

Webby I'm looking forward to hearing how your obgyn appointment goes! Hoping you get a positive OPK soon, I have a good feeling you will :)

I haven't had any more hot flashes, thank goodness! I felt slightly light headed today which the doctor said could be a symptom, but I've also been busy and stressed at work so it could be related to that. My last pill is tonight - it will be weird to not have to worry about taking any pills for a while! Except my folic acid.

Are you guys also taking any other supplements? I am also taking flaxseed oil when I remember

Thanks k8nz - hoping I'll get a positive OPK soon. Had some beautiful EWCM today so I got a bit excited. On my appointment yesterday she did an ultrasound and it looked like my right ovary had some nice looking follicles, though my left one looked a bit lazy. However, my uterine lining was still thin. I guess all that pomegranate juice that I've been drinking hasn't done anything lol. To help with the lining, she's given me an estrogen pill called estrace - it's a teeny tiny pill which I have to take vaginally twice a day! It's actually very funny because it's turning my cm blue - no kidding! I was almost tempted to take a photo of it because it's so amusing seeing blue in my pants but decided against it as it might be a bit TMI! Haha. I then also have another pill to take vaginally called Endometrin which is a progesterone pill which I start taking on Monday, so here's hoping that all these vagina pills will have a good effect and not just blue discharge!

She's predicted that I'll ovulate over the weekend so we'll wait and see!

Hooray for taking your last clomid pill! Are you seeing you obgyn again?

I'm taking a prenatal multi vitamin and mineral pill which has folic acid, vitamin a, b-6 b-12,c, d, e and lots of other things which I hope are good!

Oh my gosh Webby those vaginal pills sound interesting!! Especially the blue discharge haha that would be a surprise to see the first time! It's the weekend now, have any positive OPKs yet?

I'm feeling good after finishing clomid, feeling pretty frisky! Haha

I bought 100 OPKs a while ago so have been using them daily and today I got a faint test line, it's looking good! According to my app (Ovia) I'm 4 days away from ovulation so fingers crossed that test line gets darker!

Frisky is a good sign! Hehe. No positive OPKs for me! All other signs are good though. I'm hoping that I haven't missed it somehow or that these vagina pills are not messing it around. I'm currently trying to hold my pee for an extra hour to take another OPK!

We were out with some friends yesterday and one of them is pregnant. The husband was joking around betting on who would be pregnant next - me or this other girl. It's so easy for them to joke around about it but just don't realize that because it was so easy and exciting for them - it doesn't mean that it's that way for everyone. For us it's been hard and stressful! Sorry just needed to get that out my system because it made me feel sad about my own body yesterday. Just hoping a positive OPK shows today.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you k8nz - keep us posted and enjoy frisky time! Xx

Thought I'd share this because I was starting to stress that I hadn't seen a positive OPK yet (one today was also negative). I don't want to be stressed so I thought is share this tidbit from Fertility Friend:

https://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Ovulation-with-no-positive-OPK.html

After all that...finally, a positive OPK!

Hello hello! I've never heard of blue cm before! :D I would say yes don't stress if you don't get a positive OPK but I stress about it every cycle! This is where temping comes in. Once your temp jumps up for a few days, it's a good sign you O'd. We BD every other day starting at CD 7 (since I'm scared I'll miss it) and when/if I get a positive OPK we switch to every day. Even though it hasn't worked so far... :p

I'm at a point where I hate talking about anything baby related to friends, etc. Then they always ask us why don't have a kid yet. I have this really annoying coworker that's always asking me this. What am I suppose to say without making things awkward??

AF should be showing up in two days. Being impatient I've already taken a couple pregnancy tests but all BFNs. At this point just hoping AF starts on time so I can get testing done sooner rather than later.

Have you guys thought about what you're going to do for the nursery yet? I'm not going to lie, I spend too much time looking at pics online and figuring out what I would like. Right now I plan on at least painting the room a neutral color (light gray) so the room can still be used for something else if I don't get pregnant any time soon. I figured it'd be better to get the painting out of the way before I get pregnant.

Yay Webby!!! I knew you'd get a positive OPK this cycle ;) get busy girl!!

I so know what you mean about others talking about babies. Hubby and I haven't been married long (5 months) but been together almost 7 years so people ask us a lot. It depends who asks, but if it's family or close friends I tell them the truth; we've been trying and it's been really hard. it usually stops the questions. Either that, or as my darling mum says, I tell them it's non of their damn business! Haha

Crossing my fingers that AF arrives soon alexanne. And I totally look at baby things online! I always see super cute things on my Instagram and think "oh I hope I remember that when I'm pregnant" - this is what secret Pinterest boards are for ;)

Sorry to hear about the BFNs Alexanne. Hope AF arrives soon for you, but if it doesn't and you're still getting BFNs, still book to see someone. My AF just never showed and that's what made me go to see someone. It's already been a long cycle for you.

The blue CM thing is still very funny, partly because there's so much of it. Having to wear a panty liner. Today is CD 16 so I have to start taking my progesterone pills tonight (also vaginally!). Doctor said once I start taking those, I can start taking the estrace ones orally, so blue cm is hopefully on its way out but who knows what the progesterone ones will provide! Purple?! I haven't looked at the colour pills yet! Got a big temp dip this morning and my breasts are very noticeably sore and tender. I'm a bit worried about my temping because I'm sure the progesterone pills will make my bbt go up but I guess if it does, I won't be able to fully confirm ovulation till I get my blood work next week cos the temp rise could be down to the progesterone pills. I guess it's best not to worry and hope for the best. At least I know I'm doing everything I can. My poor body is probably is hormone shock and overload right now haha.

I haven't thought about a nursery actually but I have thought about other things - like I'm a keen runner and I like reading articles about running whilst pregnant and looking at what are the best baby running strollers. I like the thought of doing something I love with the baby and creating new memories with it.

How are you feeling k8nz? What day are you on now?

Alexanne I second what Webby said, don't wait too long for AF to show before seeing someone, but you do sound much more patient than me - patience is a trait I just don't possess! :)

Oh gosh Webby your pills do sound amusing! Is it hard to keep up with what to take when? I kept reading the directions on my clomid a million times to make sure I didn't take it wrong haha. Looking forward to hearing how your new pills go, hoping the blue CM stops and doesn't turn purple! haha. How many days until your blood test?

I'm on CD11 and 2 days away from O according to my Ovia app (it's an incredible app!) I told hubby that "action week" is about to start so he needs to be prepared haha he loves it of course. He is away from CD18 so hoping O is on time!

I'm working from home this afternoon so took the chance to do another OPK (obsessed much) and the line is definitely getting darker! Thinking O is a day or two away, eee!!

Eek that's exciting! I took another one today and it was negative. Hoping I ovulated today because it's been a hard day body wise this afternoon. Boobs were so so sore and had really bad cramping down below. I've read that sometimes all the stimulation from the clomid can cause it to be like that so be warned! Glad you warned your hubby about action week - I warned mine too but I think he's knackered now! I've told him we've still got two more days to go to keep our bases covered!

Yes, I'm struggling to keep up with all these pills and when to take them and like you, I keep reading and re-reading the instructions. Onto progesterone tonight! I'm going in for my blood test next week on Monday (day 23 - they originally said day 21 but that's a Sat and I guess they didn't fancy working Saturday!)

How does the ovia app work? Are you going back in to be monitored or have any blood tests? Hoping you ovulate and get plenty of baby making in before day 18! X

P.s. I'll keep you posted on the multi colored CM teehee

Just opened my new tablets to take vaginally - they're huge and I have to take two!! I honestly don't know if they will even for up there?!!

: Well I hope they fit! Any color changes yet? lol!

Hope everything's going good for you guys and positive OPKs all around! I've been spending my day thinking go AF go. I started spotting this morning but that's it which is really weird for me. Usually once I start spotting I bloat up and have horrible cramps then full blown AF within hours. If it doesn't get going by mid-morning tomorrow I'm going to message my doctor and see if they still want me to come in. It's technically not CD1 with just spotting. Why body why!? :p
