Feb IUI here I come

Good Luck to you. When do you have your IUI?

Hi,
I need to be "talked down" a little, if any of you ladies can spare some good advice.

This is my first IUI cycle, and the clomid made me, quite frankly, a little nutty, and I have enormous 38 mm follicles and I might not be thinking straight.

I had an IUI scheduled this morning. I've been testing 2x a day with my OPKs and no surge yet. I explained that this morning but they said, you probably missed it. The follicles (3) were quite big and we're on CD11 which is my usual day. That's reasonable enough so we went ahead with the IUI. They also drew some blood for testing.

This afternoon they call me back and said they want to schedule a second IUI on Monday. (Keep in mind we did the first this morning at 9am, Friday.) That's 72 hours after the first! What kind of sense does that make? I mean, if the one on Monday is appropriate, today's was a complete waste of $, time off work and emotional investment.

Before I call the office back sounding like a crazy lady I was hoping anyone could give me some insight? Does this scheduling make sense? We're paying cash. So I have EXTRA pressure financially.

Thank you all...

Oh gees...what a hard sutuation. Tbh, I don't think I would have had the first one. But they did say the follies were big so hopefully it will work. It is just so hard especially when paying cash. Good luck to you in whatever decision you make.

quick question to those of you who have had iui, where you able to carry on with normal activities straight after? or did you rest a little?

I rested but was told that I could go back to normal activities right away. I was just so burnt out from work and so emotionally drained that I took advantage of my day off and caught up on sleep :haha: the doc did say I could do whatever I want though.

I could go on with normal activities. I had my IUI in the morning, by 6...I was ready to relax though.

I could also go on with normal activities. Mine was in the afternoon, my husband and I did a little shopping, went to dinner, and then I relaxed!

thanks guys was just wondering as maybe travelling the day after. so should be ok next day

Thank you so much for all of your responses, it made me feel better. :hugs:

Today being Saturday... still no LH surge. So, Friday was probably a waste of $. I will be wiser the next time and simply say "no - we'll wait until the surge". I am SO uncomfortable, by the way, I shouldn't complain about big follicles lest I not get any next time, but seriously the one was almost 4 cm and the others were over 2 and I am starting to feel a little yuck.

About activity... I asked after Friday's IUI and she said to go do anything at all, including running, taking a bath, whatever. When I mentioned that I was kind of uncomfortable she backtracked on the running and said to only walk until ovulation, but I think that's just in prevention of twisting them up.

How did things go today, Liz? Hope everything went well :)

For those of you waiting on IUI....I just wanted to let you know a little about my experience. They had my dh give his "sample" and had us wait while they cleaned it. When we got it back, they had us take it to another section of the hospital (kind of embarassing for dh, but he was a champ!) They also gave us a paper that said all of the stats about the sperm, like count, motility, etc. It said what it should be and what his counts were. Dh was higher than all of the counts and when they were doing the IUI, the doctor made a comment about how great the results looked! While we were bringing it to the other section, dh was very concerned that it was pink. I told joked with him that it was pink b/c I told them we wanted a girl...dh really wants a boy! LOL Then they took us back to do my IUI. Dh felt wierd being in there with me, but I was really glad he was there for it. They didn't use any lubricant or anything. In fact, I had so much cm that they had to clean some of it up before doing the procedure b/c the doctor couldn't see. There was a little cramping and pinching, kind of like during HSG, but not nearly as bad. The doc said that when they do iuis sometimes a little bit spits out, but that didn't happen with me. It was over pretty quickly and then they covered me back up with the sheet and had me lay there for 5-10 minutes. So, everything seemed to go really well, but now the 2ww is going to kill me!

Anyway, I hope this helps anyone that hasn't had one yet. I wasn't really sure what to expect and I was really nervous this morning. But really, it wasn't bad at all. If you can survive an HSG, you can definitely survive IUI. And the doc said it gets easier each time you do an IUI.

Things went well thank you, so I join you in the 2ww!! Im feeling more positive than last time so here's hoping. I laughed when i read your post, the pink solution was funny! I also thought it was a little odd to see it in pink. I liked the way the nurse kept checking my identity to ensure I was getting the right sample lol.

I agree the IUI is fine - It is no worse than a smear test so nothing for anyone to worry about. The nurse did struggle to get the catheter through my cervix (i think she said cervix) but once that was through it was plain sailing!

Wishing everyone luck.......
xx

Yes, I felt that way. I think it might have been because of the progestrone though. Hopefully for you, it means something positive!
