my son is 13 weeks old and feeds every 3 hours (he gets hungry after about 2 and a half but i try and make him hold out until 3). he is on cow and gate hungry baby milk and has been for about 2 months. he's on 8oz of milk. i was thinking of maybe trying him on a bit of baby rice???
i'm finding it so tiring because hes quite grizzly atm and cries and cries until he gets his food.

please help!

It might be a growth spurt. Does he take a pacifier too? I really wouldn't start rice at this age, I personally think he's way too young for it.

hes been the same for over a month now. yeh he has his dummy loads too. x

I had to change my wee woman to sma hubgry baby and its helped but there is still days that she eats non stop. After dinner last nite she ate a 7 oz bottle every 2 hrs and then slept 13 hrs so i suppose i cant complain

yeh its hard to know what to do coz everyone says different things. i will probs try him on a really watered down bit of rice and see how he goes x

id try and hold of the rice a bit longer if possible, maybe another month. If hes just thirsty try offering him some cooled boiled water.

yea boiled water moight keep him quite for abit of changing the brand of milk as my health visitor said to as i mentioned about Adrhianna guzzling all the time, it is tiring darling but rice is abit thicker and it might upset him abit and when you give him milk after rice he might just reject it and then you will be catch 22 of giving him rice all the time, speak to your health visitor or gp they should have some advise, you never knw it might be a growth squirt xxxxxxx

I was about to post the exact same thing about Phoebe. We moved her to hungrier milk last week but she is eating none stop every 2 1/2 hours, like you I try to make her last until 3 hours but she goes mad. She is guzzling 8oz at most feeds and has become really cranky at night, she has gone from sleeping 13 hours to waking at 3am for a feed and then again at 6am. I'm at a loss with what to do, hopefully it is just a growth spurt.

its annoying isnt it bcoz they are too young for solids so theres not a lot we can do. i'm still just feeding him milk until he is 4 months. x

I hope so because I cant keep up with her! Last night she ate 8oz at 7pm and then woke at 10pm and drank another 8oz, she never ever wakes up at this time, her sleep pattern has gone awol and it seems so much worse since I moved her to hungry milk.

My doctor told me that when grady starts taking 8oz, and seems to be hungry within an hour - hour and a half, to start giving him a bit of cereal. Because the milk isn't doing enough. She said to do it even if it isn't before the 4 month mark!

How much does he take in total each day? A friend of mine's little girl was at 54oz and she was told to put her on a bit of cereal.

Are you talking about me and Renah, Nat? haha.

Renah was taking up to 54oz a day and yup, they told me to start her on cereal at 3 months, and then at 4 months we got the green light to start purees. She was fine. Actually, when I started first I just put some cereal in her bottle. Some people are really against that but she took a spoon perfectly fine after.

hes having 6 feeds a day and 8oz each time so thats 48oz a day. x

I would try cereal. The thing about this is, and why they tell you to start cereal, is that formula is very high in calories. So if they're taking in so much formula, they're taking in too many calories which can make them overweight. So giving the cereal helps fill them up with less calories.

thanks scorpio. i'm going to wait until hes 4 months because i only have to wait 2 weeks and then i can add cereal to his diet anyway. i dont think there is a 'correct' way to do things because everyone has different views on this, i guess us mums know whats best for our lo's x
