Fertility after the Progesterone Only Pill...

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping to try for my 3rd (already have 2 DDs aged 4 and 21 months) when I finish my pack of pills next week.

I've been on the Progesterone only pill for 5 months after being switched from the combined pill due to migranes and currently don't have a period whilst taking the pill.

I was wondering if anyone had issues with their fertility coming back to normal after the progesterone only pill or did it return quite quickly?

I had no periods either whilst on it, I didn't ovulate til 3 months after I stopped it (with which I had a chemical pregnancy) but I also have pcos so could have been a factor

Hi, I'm interested to know how you get on as Im currently on micronor (mini pill) and am wondering too when would be best to stop taking it so can ttc #3! Ive also got pcos and had ovulation issues in the past so don't really want to be taking it if its not going to be helping me in the long run if you know what i mean!! What mini pill were you on?

Sounds like you might be about to ovulate or have! Did you bother taking the rest of the pack or have you stopped now?

It soo worries me not having any periods on this pill & seeing as we can still ov on the mini pill we never kno where we are in our cycles?

Did you conceive both your DDs easily when ttc before? Xx

Yes I only took it from 2 months post partum to about 3 months, so I've been off it 6 months. We were ntnp knowing pregnancy would be hard to achieve but then the chem happened and in that week we knew we got so excited so now I'm a bit desperate!

The Saturday and Tuesday I forgot to take it were in the last few days of the packet. I stopped taking it Wednesday and DTD that night which was the day I noticed a lot more cm so I guess not taking those two days had some effect on my body, we'll just see.

Firefox I think it took about four months of ttc to get pregnant with my DDs, I was having regular periods then so could pinpoint ovulation quite easily, that's why im eager for my fertility to come back quickly!

Hopefully you will have gone back to normal then! Keep me posted how you are getting on. Think I'm going to stop taking mine when they run out at the end of the month & see what happens cycle wise..cos I'm super scared that the longer I'm taking it the longer it will take to get out of my system. Been on it 9 months now which is quite a long time, plus I sooo want to know whether I can still ovulate (only did after ovarian drilling).

No I don't, my chemical pregnancy was the first time id naturally ovulated in my adult life. After 10 years on the pill I was having no cycle at all when we started clomid. I have ovulated once since meaning my last cycle was 60 days! I think the improvement was caused by me starting metformin.


Oh and I meant to say I took it from 2 WEEKS post partum to 3 months. Only because I had an emcs and didn't want to risk immediate pregnancy even though the chance was small. While on it I gained heaps of weight and my skin was awful though :/

Sounds like me! My first time ovualting was after ovarian drilling with the clomid, got super lucky with my second ds as did ov naturally that time 5 months after having my 1st ds. So don't lose hope it can happen!! I didnt want to go on the pill either but had to as couldnt risk having another baby so close.

My skin has just started going really bad and hair growth on my face is starting to come back, both were really good when preggers so am a bit worried that my old pcos hormones are coming back with vengance

Do you have any clomid tablets left & would you take them again or go to docs to try get some? Xx

I had one lot left from my son but I went to my docs and told him what we were doing and he gave me a script for another 5x repeats of 10 tabs (and I only use 5 a round)

Oh that's great so are you taking the Clomid now? I was wondering that if I have problems again whether the doc would prescribe Clomid. I had to go through a fertility specialist by getting referred by the doc etc to get it before. Did you do similar or did the doc just prescribe Clomid in the first place?

Yeah I'm waiting to ov on my first round (last time was cd21-22 , I'm on 18) I had to go to an fs last time too but they have to send a copy of all your notes to your gp so I went to my gp and he's just given me exactly what the fs did last year

Ah that's great! Hope you ov soon and catch that eggy! How did you find being on Clomid before? It turned me into a right stress head when it wasn't working (pre op) I hated it! spent all my time doing temps, checking cm etc. Oh and the blood tests to see if I'd ov'd, never good! Are you being monitored on it? Did you get provera to start a period before the Clomid or did you get a period anyway?

I've prob got about 25 tablets left, will prob be taking them soon if I don't get a cycle but think they might be out of date? Do you think that matters? Might be worth a trip to the docs in the future if I do have problems tho & hope they prescribe it! Don't like the thought of just doing it off my own back & then getting that hyper stimulation or whatever it is!

I never found clomid too bad honestly... Oh and FYI the tabs I got in 2012 had an expiry of 2017 so u could still be in luck. I'm having my cd21 (will be cd22) bloods on Saturday and I'm praying with everything I've got we've oved!!! Last time on my cd21 bloods my progesterone was 7 and on its way up cos I'd just oved late so they repeated a week later and it was 35.
Oh and I was on cd60 (post mc) so I went to doc for a progesterone test b4 starting and he said I was luteal.
I've actually ovulated twice since starting metformin roughly 2 months apart

Thats great that you get the blood test monitoring too & wow it's just clicked how much clomid you have been prescribed, thats loads! Hope you dont have to use any of it tho. Let me know how your bloods go on sat Do you do any other ov tracking? Ive just checked my clomid supply...got 20 out of date tablets (may 2013) 10 (april 2014) & 25 (Jan 2015) so looks like I can try some on my own if I don't get any natural ovulation going on! Your doctor sounds really good by the way doing the progesterone test, monitoring your blood etc. No chance of that where I am!

Well I've been using opks but I'm really confused.

Here's my post....but basically I had a almost positive (I think) at 11am and virtually no lines AT ALL at 2pm and 5pm. WTH?!
