Hello everyone, I am new here, showed up about a week ago. I'm 41, this is my fourth child. I haven't been pregnant in awhile, my youngest is 7.

About 2 yrs ago, I found out I have fibromyalgia. As well as arthritis in both my hips and lower back.

So, my questions are: if you have either of these two chronic pain syndromes, do you take anything for them? Do you do special exercises? How do you cope when you are in pain?

Thank you
Dorian

Are you on any meds at the moment? Did u have RA or fibro in your last pg's?

I have RA and luckily went into remission when pg with DS, I was already on prednisolone when TTC and ended up on plaquenil for some pain nearer the end.

Hopefully the pain eases for you like it did for me, if not there are drugs considered safe that you can take. Dont suffer in pain, see your dr x

Thanks Dani.

I was taking Savella for my fibro. But read up on it and it's one of those drugs where they don't really know how it would effect baby. So I stopped taking it.

Thankfully, my fibro has taken a back seat. I just have the weariness, but most of the other syptoms are gone for now.

What gets me is the arthritis. I have to watch how much I stand/walk, or sit at my sewing machine ;) I was taking a mobic drug for that, but have stopped taking it too.

I will be seeing my midwife on Sept 2nd, so will ask her what is safe to take for the arthritis. Which is oesteo, not RA.

Ah ok I see, I get sore sitting on the laptop etc too, have to limit that or i end up stuck in my seat!

Im off meds just now too as waiting to m/c and im pain free for the most part. I think im one of the lucky ones that go into remission, perhaps you will be too. The weight also has an affect near the end but just take it easy best u can! x

Hi i have arthritis and have been off my meds(methotrexate) since ttc. To be honest, I have been pretty much pain free since becoming preg and it's been great. I do have the odd paracetamol but that's been rare, touch wood. I'm aware it'll hit again around 6 weeks after the birth but will be straight back on the meds before then.

Well thanks Ladies. I hope my goes into remission too. That would be lovely! lol

Hi ladies, I hope you don't mind me replying to this thread. I was searching for posts about arthritis and found this.

I'm nearly 24 and hard arthritis since I was 2. And diagnosed with Uveitis at 12 (chronic inflammatory eye condition). My first two pregnancies (at 17-18 and 21) were alright pain wise, but this time I am absolutely suffering. I was on prednisolone through my whole pregnancy with my daughter but this time I'm trying to do it with nothing, but I think I'm going to have to admit defeat and give in.

Walking my son to school is the most difficult bit with the pain on my hips, but found belt from hospital has helped put the bump into a better position to keep weight off my hips.

When I'm not pregnant I'm on Infliximab or a drug similar which I inject myself into my stomach as Infliximab requires me to be in hospital for a day for it to be given to me via a drip. And Infliximab covers my eyes and arthritis.

Usually pregnancy is good for imflammatory conditions and as I said, this is first pregnancy I've actually suffered pain with.

Sorry again for posting here.

I hope you all have a happy and healthy 9 months and not in too much pain!

You're welcome to join us Becky :)

I'm sorry you've had to suffer with this alignment for so very long!

I will have a talk with my Dr next Friday, to see what I can take. It's very painful for me. I have a hard time getting up and doing things, cause by afternoon time, I am whiped out and hurting. Like yesterday, I canned some zucchini and picked some produce in the garden. And this morning I'm suffering for it. Sigh~

I am also wondering if some pilates/yoga will help? I know it's good to keep your joints moving. So will talk to my Dr about that too.

I hope you can find some relief Becky.

I'm not sure I could bend the required way for yoga anymore lol.

Swimming is supposed to be really good, especially a heated swimming pool.

I was on prednisolone through my second pregnancy, baby was absolutely fine. They just keep an eye for baby getting a bit big, and also babies can have a withdrawl from it quite quickly after birth. But I was on 5mg and that seemed to keep everything at bay and doctor said probably only about 1-2mgs was getting through. But Kalea was born 7lb 11oz and I was home within 6 hours.

So if they mention prednisolone to ya, atleast you know it's not overly harmful :)

Thank you Becky, it will be a great help knowing that your child was just fine. I'll ask my dr about it.
