Finance worries! Help! (Uk)

Hello! Sorry this is a bit long winded... I am currently on maternity leave and due back to work on the 4th August. Originally (before baby was born) I was going back to work as my work place is offering a pay out of the money I am losing while on maternity if I return for a year, which will work out at about £1200 but in order for me to return we need a second car which we are unsure will work out that we will actually be better off. Anyway I'm looking for someone who knows about what financial help we would be entitled to if I return on part time hours? How many hours I would have to return on? And what would we be entitled to if I don't go back? My husband will be earning £17000 ish gross annual income after his pay rise in august and I earn £6.68 an hour. I'm sorry but I'm completely clueless when it comes to getting financial help!!!

There is a uk benefit calculator, it on a government website somewhere. Google it. That should be able to answer any questions hopefully
