five year old missing!!

It is very likely a decision may be made sometime this morning, this is also being indicated by news reporters on Twitter.

I've also been reading that the reason for the new arrest was due to forensic evidence found in MB's house which not only linked him to April but also proved she was not alive. Obviously take that as you will but it does seem odd he was re-arrested less than a day after forensics were seen leaving his home  They also "fast-tracked" forensics, so it doesn't seem so far-fetched.

We won't find out much about what evidence they had to charge him with (assuming) they do, until it goes to trial. This will normally take 12-18 months to happen. Sian was murdered last March and the trial isn't til next feb. So details WILL come out, but not until then xx

I know as outsiders it seems the police don't know much, but there are strong limits on what they can and cannot say before it goes to trial. Remember that members of the jury are made up of memos of the general public. If you were called for jury service but had followed the case closely and knew the police had already said about all the damning evidence they had, your mind would be made up before you went to court which would be unfair. Vile murderer or not, people are all entitled to a fair trial and that includes hearing the defence side too. Not just making your mind up in advance from a one sided story.

For all we know they could have found his house to be a clear murder scene. Blood splatted walls and weapons etc. Bits or her clothing and forensics linking what they find to her. He could have been the first suspect because the family argued and perhaps he made a threat... Or there was a relationship gone sour etc. My point is, until it goes to trial we just will not know what evidence they have, but they MUST have something pretty damning to have rearrested him for murder. Also a detective said in an interview that he felt it was important to do so to be honest with the community about what they were looking for. That says a lot about how sure they are she is no longer alive.

That said, police do make mistakes. He could be innocent, they could be wrong. I guess we'll know soon as they HAVE to release or charge him today.

I agree, and just to add there has been a lot of talk about how there are different accounts of what happened the evening she was taken and also about MB. None of that will be coming from the police, it is coming from the press and of course there will be a million different things said about him, it's small town gossip at its worst, everybody wants to say something, doesn't make it true though. The press have been invasive from the start of this, but one of the things they do is speak to the locals, then sadly print what they say as gospel, so of course it doesn't add up. Same with the night she went missing. The only account of what happened that night we should be believing is the one given by the police.

Has that horrid news reporter been taken off it? Didn't see her again yesterday.

She was there from early until about lunch time. I doubt Sky have the morals to take her off, but you never know.

Just seemed to disappear after all the outrage about telling that woman the bad news live on air.

Jem, can you explain?? I think I have missed something here! Re-arrest? Had they let him go at some point then? :flower:

The original arrest was for abduction, he has since been arrested for murder

No baby D, they just call it that x

No they hadnt let him go. He was originally arrested on susbision of abduction and while still held they re arrested him on susbision of murder. Today they have to charge him or relese him.

Its driving me mad theres no news this morning. Keep searching everywhere for the next press release.

No she told locals that it was now a murder investigation and that April was most likely dead, live on air.

Am both wanting to hear the news conference but at the same time it makes my heart feel heavy as I am starting to really feel all news will be awful from here on --- my god do I prey I am wrong!

I am having nightmares -- my OH has asked me to back away from it all a bit (for my emotions) but I just can't my mind comes back to it all of the time. I feel so sad. My heart goes out to her family as what I feel will be noting in comparrison. So damn hideous. Awful. Actually, I am angry. This should not be the way of the world.

Huge :hugs: You're right it shouldn't be the way of the world.

I'm really hoping they find her today. Her poor parents I feel for. I had a dream lastnight that they found her but it wasn't very nice
