jamie is 6months old next week when have or will you change on to follow on milk?

I didnt bother - the HV told me it was just the production companies way of allowing advertising to produce follow on milk packed with stuff they dont need as they should be getting from their diet anyway. The boys are still on stage 1 milk xx

you don't need to change there milk my HV told me its a scam to get more money you can stay on stage 1 until there old enough for cow's milk

ive bought some yesterday as they had run out of his normal milk so i thought id give it a try but m pretty sure il be returning to his regular.x

We will change, because though it might be the same as the stage 1 milk, you can't ignore the fact they shops are allowed to put offers on FO milk.... Ted's just coming to the end of his last tub of stage one.
xxx

Aliyah is coming up to 6 months and im in two minds wether to change or not aswell x

Hey hun,

I did a lot of reading up on this over the past week and have decided not to. The stage 3 Aptamil does have some more vitamins in and what not but Molly's on a balanced diet so I don't feel that it would be worth swapping. It's perfectly ok for them to stay on Stage 1 until they're 1 or ready for cows milk :flower: HTH. xxx

Im not guna change, it's just a marketing thing for the companies. They don't NEED to be on follow on milk.
I'm sticking to C&G 1 as I know she likes it, takes it well, doesn't upset her tummy/constipated her so why change?
As they say, "if it ain't broke, why fix it!"

I saw I think it was an aptimal milk the other day called 'night time milk'!!!!! What the bloody hell's the difference??!!! Just a ploy to spend more money!!!

;-)

We did swap. Daisy was a fussy eater, and the reassurance for us was worth it!! x

I got a sample of the Hipp 'night time milk' and thought exactly the same!! what is the difference??

Read the packet - its got 'added' cereal in to fill them up longer!!

now think of all the debates about putting baby rice and cereals in baby milk lol!

was quite shocked actually..

Really!!!!!!! Well, I don't know what to say. That can't be too good for them
surely?!!!

same for us, lo would only drink 11oz of his stage 1 milk, but will now drink 24oz of follow on milk

is follow on milk stage 3 weaker in consistency than stage 1&2 (aptimal), I thought it may not 'feed' them as such and is used as just a drink to compliment food
(Also I read on the side that stage 3 actual has one less ingredient than stage 1 & 2)

I know lol - just got the packet and this is what it says:

"This special blend of high quality follow-on milk and gluten free cereals (rice and buckwheat) makes HIPP Organic Good Night Milk satisfyingly creamy and the ideal drink to end a busy, adventure-filled day!

HIPP Organic Good Night Milk can be incorporated into your baby's bedtime routine from 6months to 3 years as an alternative to your baby's normal follow on milk feed." (to me meaning help baby sleep through the night)

It does have warnings too lol -

"HIPP Organic Good Night Milk is designed to be give ONCE a day, and should not be used more frequently"

and

"Please follow all instructions carefully and do not add additonal cereals or sugar to this milk feed. this formulation has a carefully controlled cereal to liquid ratio."

the adding additonal cereal or SUGAR!! to milk got me lol - whenever has it been ok to add this in the first place?? apart from in the 50's!! lol

We've just started a change over to follow on milk because Ellie doesn't drink a lot of stage 1 (12-16oz on a good day) and we BLW (she doesn't eat a lot still). She gets a lot of colds and I worry if it's related to depleting stores of nutrients. Since we've started introducing it she has been drinking more milk and pooping nicer, and more regular poops.

now im thinking twise because jamie only drinks between 15-20oz aday so maybe the follow on would be better???

I'dsay give it a go, if it doesn't seem to make any difference then you haven't lost anything and bubs will be fine regardless :)

It's really frustrating when people repeatedly say it's just for advertising and there is no need etc...
If the sole purpose of follow on milk was to advertise they could just make a stupid bowl or cup and advertise that, it would be cheaper to manufacture anyway. It does have a purpose.

It has more vitamins. It has double the iron of first milk which they NEED after 6 months. It is THE SAME PRICE as first milk. You're getting more of the good stuff for less money.

Follow on milk is the only milk I've ever used since I BF and didn't need milk until I started weaning. I waited until six month to start the milk though but I started weaning a week before.

Breastfeeding suppport said no need for follow on.. cows milk okay after 1.
