follow on milk? when to change???

im gonna see how he goes with it today as it is a little thinner than the hungrier milk.xx

Wow I had no idea it was such a controversial subject I'm thinking of trying it my Jamie is 6months next week too. :)

If it was really that bad surely it wouldn't be legal to sell it. Does anyone know any links from the government or health professionals confirming this? I googled and couldn't find any. It'd be nice to make an informed choice.

Ive just changed to Follow On only because Jessica was on comfort milk and had been since 2 weeks old. It was time to get her off it and that was the only reason for us. :flower:

ah realy when was his birthday my jamie was born on the 13th july? xx

Omar was off his stage 1, when we switched at 7.5 months to follow on, he liked it more & started to take more milk.

I'm still on stage 1 and won't change now as we've not got long left on formula. I didn't change partly because at the time, Follow on didn't contain DHA and I wanted LO to still have that from his milk (I just saw Aptamil have now added it to follow on though). There is nothing wrong with using first milk to age one or follow on milk. They are both suitable and there is nothing wrong with either. Follow milk is a new invention though and interestingly it doesn't exist in the USA from what I've read - they just have first stage milk until 1. I do think it was invented largely as it can be advertised as the body can only absorb a certain amount of vitamins from formula. Just adding more to a milk does not mean baby will absorb any more. So it's not necessary but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it and it does seem to work well for some babies!

im definately switching back to hungrier milk for now as he woke early this morning at 5am and he NEVER does that!!! so will be getting some more today. might change back once he is a bit bigger and his diet is s bit more varied and has increased. xx

We've just started a change over to follow on milk because Ellie doesn't drink a lot of stage 1 (12-16oz on a good day) and we BLW (she doesn't eat a lot still). She gets a lot of colds and I worry if it's related to depleting stores of nutrients. Since we've started introducing it she has been drinking more milk and pooping nicer, and more regular poops.
My wee one's a shocker which milk are you using.? Your lo is so cute btw.x
