I know it’s frustrating when it may have happened quicker before, but it isn’t unusual for it to take a good year. However, I think the advice is if you are otherwise healthy and haven’t conceived within six months or a year at 35+ (Can’t remember) then the doctor can refer you to the fertility clinic for investigation.
My husband and I conceived our two children really easily. Our son on our third cycle and our daughter weeks after having our son, without trying.
This time however, it couldn’t have been more different. There are plenty of couples who have had a much longer journey than us but for us this felt like a long time. Month 18 we finally got pregnant with a sticky baby, after having twelve chemicals. I had a thin uterine lining (I was referred for a pelvic scan to check everything was ok), making it highly unlikely anything that attempted to implant would stay put. I had also had a polyp which probably got in the way too. I’m 35, we got pregnant with this child just a little more than a week before my 35th birthday.
I would suggest asking your doctor for a referral, it can’t hurt. You may not need it, there may not be anything wrong, it may just be taking time. But to put your mind at ease perhaps ask
