thankys wet towels hung infront of an open window with a draft work too

That's a good idea! It would require peeling my butt off this seat though...
I'm thinking of a cold shower...

I spent the last hour looking for english speaking mums in my area, or at least in Cologne!

How did that go? I've joined an international meetup that has monthly get together and Stitch and Bitch stuff and DD is hopefully going to a school that caters to English speaking children....but I am a little worried.

Do the German moms not speak English passably? Or is it just kind of awkward to ask them to speak it? I always kind of feel like an ass asking people to speak English to me.

Depends what area you are in. I think big cities people are more international, more likely to be willing or even want to speak some english. But we live in a pretty back-water city... And yeah, I definitely feel awkward asking people to speak english :(
No replies yet, but it's early days :P

It was way too hot on the weekend. When i was a t home I put my feet in a bucket of ice cold water :haha:

oh don't worry about asking people to speak English. Most people I know are keen to practice their English on a native speaker. Sure not everyone is good but I would say if you speak slowly they would understand you, Curriculums are the same whether they are villagers or in the big cities.

Way too hot here too - 2-4 weeks left to go, and I'm sweating gallons.
I live in a big city too, it's multicultural alright, just not English wise! I've met a few other (native) English speaking mums randomly in the park and stuff, but mostly trying to talk German to German people...
Waiting at home for my 38 week midwife appt she is coming to my house this time, thank goodness i don't have to take two buses each way to see her!
DD2 is in her second week at kindergarten now, so I'm now finally getting to relax at home a little!

Oh wow, they wouldnt come to you house before then? We don't see ours often though.

They haven't done up until now - I've been mostly seeing the midwife for all my check ups instead of the frauenarzt though, so I guess that's why I see her more - weekly visits now anyway!

Oh yep, I see an OB/gyn. My midwife is mostly just there for after. I tried to ask her what she was for, and she was weird and vague... so I just ask her random questions and she kind of half answers them for me...

I'm not sure if it's her, the language or me...

So far I have only been to the Gynaecologist, I strill have to get a midwife for the after birth care... mhhh.

We rang up a midwife centre, and they gave us their "english speaking" expert :P.

Well I am a native German speaker so that would not be the the problem :haha:

Hehe! Well sometimes DH questions whether they are speaking German around here... :P Every Vally has it's own dialect!
