Thanks Whisper! Do you mean a store like Tedi? The problem with buying through ebay is that they're not blown up. I want to get one already filled with helium that floats! :)

Of course, a flower shop! That'd be a good place to look! Good ideas, will have to search next week, thanks. :)

-maybe- the gift shop at ur hospital has them, but just an idea :/

The big shopping trip before birthday/Christmas is on Wednesday. Wish us luck! Hoping to beat the crowds (yeah right!). I hear everything will be closed for 4 days straight except for some limited hours on Monday, yikes! My parents think Germany's absolutely crazy, haha. How couldn't they when they're used to shopping life in the U.S. Took me a while to get used to for sure.

Are grocery stores open on Sundays in England?

yep all the big ones and the shopping center is too

Germany is mental :P I cant handle how little is open... makes me feel like im living when my parents grew up. Like "back in my day..."

oh bless her and she gets it all again with christmas:haha:

Yep, lucky girl! Perfect timing in getting gift unwrapping practice. She's a pro now!

What are everyone's Christmas plans? Are the trees up? We got ours during the last week of November and it's still looking good! :)

Going to the in laws, already had the argument with dh about how long to stay. I say three days he says like... Six!?!?

We are going to my mother in laws for dinner fir 3 days no doubt still be there in the evening lol then a few days break and my parents come over new year :-)

Can't wait till next year. I'm so getting a tree and doing Christmas in a non German way..

Im having 2 christmas's from next year lol one at the begining of december.where me and lena go to my parentd then the german tradition here on xmas eve etc HOPEFULLY if hubby sticks to it we will be able to move back to the uk in a few years with him on a proper job and I can go back to college

Exactly! Can't wait to head back to nz. Hope he gets some sort of job somewhere... I'd like the uk as well tbh

I think hes looking into computer programing he already knows a lot about it and not nessasary for qualifications just experiance and knowledge to be able to get employment we cant stay on job center for ever but we also dont have the qualifications to live comfortably without it here so its
A case of doing something he knows
And then in the uk I can do the course I want etc

Omg 6 days with the in laws?! I'd lose it! :p

What's a non-German Christmas like? I find it's celebrated quite similar to Christmas in the U.S. except for all presents being opened on the 24th. My mil says traditionally bratwurst and kartoffelsalat are eaten where they're from. 0.0 Doesn't sound like a Christmas meal I'd typically imagine. :p She's making a Kasseler meal on the Eve though, yummmm! She's made sure some real bratwurst from Brandenburg will be sent nevertheless haha! Can't say I'm a huge bratwurst fan but wieners fresh from the butcher are awesome! Never found an equivalent in the U.S.

I know what you mean about finding work here Whisper. My husband studied something close to computer programming years back and worked in that field for over a year then moved cities and started different work because he wanted change. Now his education is out of date and he basically would have to study all over again to get such a job.. it's ridiculous in my opinion. That's one thing that attracts him about the U.S. that you don't necessarily need an abschluss or ausbildung (or an up-to-date one at that) to find a decent job. If you're capable you have a chance without. In any case we won't go over until he's got some diploma, too risky with a family. Plus, the setting isn't one I feel as safe in as I do here and last week's events haven't helped. Feel so torn with what to do sometimes. Really want to go back but life here isn't so bad either. Just don't picture raising our family here but I guess time will tell..
