getting a council house? or private

i been on the council list since july and got told i got a minimum of a 5 year wait!!x

really put my hopes up there like lol....looks like private rent will be the way forward at the moment

wev been on the list since last june. We have bands here ; platinum, gold+,gold,silver and bronze. Wer in silver as we live with OH's parents in a double bedroom with his 8yr old son. We have to be gone by the time th baby comes so we only have 6 months really. Its very stressful as we cant afford to private rent and OH might have to move to a new security post in march (2 months before baby is due) and will have a pay cut if he has to move.
Council is the only way for us really. We only need a 2 bed for about 2 years and then we could exchange to a 3 bed. Its just getting onto the ladder thats the hard part. Hope we all get some good luck with housing soon!

You can get housing benefit if you wanna go private. At the moment me and bf are both unemployed, and were entilted to £640 per month but when baby arrives were entitled to £850. This would probably be lower for you as your employed.

Is your gf getting any benefits? Like income support or anything.
I think you might be able to get income support if your on a low income but not sure, your have to check it out.
