i agree with your decision to rehome bailey, but i think you should of been more thorough in finding a decent home that could care for his needs.
regarding a new puppy, i dont think your OH was very responsible in getting one so soon, especially if you didnt have time to train bailey as all puppies need a whole amount of training.
we recently rehomed a jack russol x terrior dog and he was in a state when we had him, very nervouse, he smelled like he'd never been bathed and had tons of flees.
hes now a happy socail dog (who smells nice lol) and i 100% trust him around alys, although not around her soft toys as he has a strange obsession with them lol hes great with her, if anything its her we need to watch as she loves to pull him lol
i think with the right amount of training any dog can be a family one.
