Had to share as I find this very upsetting..

Okay so there's ONE difference between MrsThomas' Nolan and my Alexandre!!

For those who are 100% against circ. sorry, but don't read my little joke which I thought was rather cute (for the record, mine is an uncut lil boy)

That has gotta hurt.

These jokes are just that, jokes. If you do not have a sense of humor or just a sensitive person please do not read. For every one else please enjoy.

Two five year old boys are standing at the potty to pee.

When one says, " Your thing doesn't have any skin on it!"

" I've been circumcised." Says the second boy.

" What does that mean?"

"It means they cut the skin off the end."

" How old were you when it was cut off?"

" My mom said that I was two days old."

" Did it hurt?"

" You bet it hurt, I couldn't walk for a year!"

Ugh, I hate when someone gets a bug up their behind and actually gets enough support to cause a fuss. They can stay the heck out of my son's pants, thank you very much.
 Had to giggle at the irony, they're not the ones "in your sons pants" removing parts of his body...

I dont see why some folks get so upset over the fact baby boys are circumcised. Its been going on for centuries. Its a religious right for some (not me). Its been accepted in society forever, why all of a sudden force some crazy persons beliefs on the rest of the population. Leave it be, let the parents decide!

There is NO medical evidence saying circumcision is bad for a baby, and some doctors will NOT preform it for specific reasons. My friends son didnt get circed till 6 mths b/c his doctor said his penis would point left if they did it right away....

And just to say Female circumcision is nothing like circumcision of the penis. They are not comparable. So dont compare them.

If it's no big deal, then why do it in the first place? (without religious purposes) :flower:

As I said before, I never even considered not doing it. I dont know of any un-circumcised men, so for me I just thought it was normal for baby boys to get circed. In fact as I mentioned in another post, the circ rate where I livfe is about 78% and is the highest in the United State! Up until joining BNB I didnt even realize some people didnt have it done!

Oh and Pepsichick, Im sorry if I offended you, I wasnt refering to you or anyone else here as a crazy person!

Loved the Joke! OH and I both had a good laugh about it.

OMG

That just made me feel physically sick :nope:

I know! When the babies cries stopped and I just saw his poor little body twitch when the doctor inserted something, I cried. I know babies are not supposed to feel anything anymore and the video shows how it is done using a plastibell.

Eta: I re read what I wrote on the other thread, I love drmomma because they are all about peaceful parenting.

That first video is one of the most horrendous videos I have ever seen. That poor baby, he has been taken from his mother, strapped down with no idea where he is or what is happening and subjected to this awful pain. He must be so confused and frightened. Parents should be shown this before making the decision to circumcise as I bet most of them don't actually know what it really involves.

I don't have a boy but I cannot imagine allowing someone to strap down my baby girl and remove parts of her labia because it's "cleaner" "looks nicer" everyone else has it done" "it's normal in our religion". It's the same thing and I will never agree with it.

Yep that part bought me close to tears too :( The way I see it is a baby will never be able to express how much pain they are in by voice, such as a child/adult can who talk, so we'll never know and so for that reason I don't accept that these new methods are pain free etc.

Thank you for showing that site, I've never heard of drmomma so shall go have a look at the rest of it! :)

My son's were never strapped down, they were held by my OH (the surgeons wanted me to hold them but I just find any medical procedure no matter how minor, heck even people having their ears pierced, makes me feel faint). My son had many blood tests in his early life and he was in a lot more pain having those than when he was being circumcised. He didn't even wince when being circumcised as he had a full local anaesthetic and when he got home he wasn't at all uncomfortable. I do believe after having four kids and seeing quite a few of them have their blood tests and vaccinations that yes you can tell when your baby is in pain.

Although i will never agree with circumcision, i also respect others religious views on the matter.

Out of interest, what religions practice circumcision as part of their religion?

Muslims, Jews, it is also practiced by various Ethiopian/Coptic sects in Africa and for some of these churches it is a required practice.

see thats what i DONT agree with. why should it be required? your a lesser person for not wanting to put your son through something but still being a believer? :nope:

I havent read all the replies on here cos its a bit long lol..

My OH had his removed because of problems going wee when he was a small boy. Not everyone has it done for religion..

Also, its a part of religion, we read so much in the papers like we cant call Christmas, Christmas and we cant wear our religious pendants but its ok to change the rules of another religion.

I dont agree with it but its stopping people believing in their religion. You cant play with someones faith.

Laura2919 - the suggestions in the thread were not about stopping circumcision altogether, but rather that the practise should be done on a consenting adult rather than a tiny infant who doesn't get a say in the matter. The concept that a lot of us were discussing was the idea of choice, not of banning circumcision.
I also think that if a religion wants to remain relevant, then it needs to be a dynamic force - it needs to find a balance between traditions and the social mores of the present day. There are many many things that we would find unacceptable today that were practised as part of religions in the past.
Change doesn't have to be this big scary thing. It is important to question and to discuss matters like this.

I literally couldn't watch that, I watched around a minute up until the "clamping" (which you don't even see cos the Dr blocks it) and the tiny helpless baby screaming out for his mum, confused and completely oblivious to what is about to happen upset me enough to turn it off without seeing any more. Sickening...

Ask those Christian churches in Africa that have required it; not me. It is also required in certain sects of Judaism; and in Islam the view on it being required differs between different schools of thought but its not a pillar of Islam, nor is it a basic article of creed/faith so if someone isn't circumcised it doesn't mean they are not Muslim.
