Had to share as I find this very upsetting..

I circumcised my son. I did it, and I never ever considered NOT doing it. I have never seen a NON-circed penis. And I never will see one. Where I come from its the NORM. MY OH i is circed, my dad, my brothers, my nephews and all of my male cousins. And I will admit as well, ITS NOT for religious reasons at all.

what really pisses me off, is banning it for religious purposes! Wasnt AMERICA founded FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS?!? The pligrims came here to ESCAPE religious persecution in Britan! I think banning circumcision for reglious reasons is against the constitution of the United States. Ban it for other reasons, which Im against, BUT DO NOT ban it for religious reasons!

VERY well said!

And HEY! You're in Fargo...not too terribly far for Omaha!

O/T...But Mrs.Thomas where are you from in Ohio

I attended college at University of Louisville in KY
and often visited Cinci on the odd weekend.

I live in Columbus, right in the middle of the state. :flower:

I don't know. I don't think most people in the US and Canada do it for "religious" reasons. I don't even know a Jewish person.

Anyways, maybe if the people wanted it done for religious reasons, they had to go to a religious figure trained in it, to do it? And doctors shouldn't be pushing it so much in the US.

Like people who don't do vaccines.

Also, I do not appreciate being told my actions are sickening because someone else does not agree with my parenting choices. There are ways to get your point across without being nasty. People are entitled to their opinion, they are not entitled to be assholes.

i know your probably aiming that at my post (if not never mind) but your choosing to take it personally. i havent targeting you. or anyone else. I think its a sickening horrible thing to do. im not saying your a sickening horrible person so dont take it that way. but i will still stand by my opinion on how i feel about circumcision.

Absolutely it was pointed at your post. How am I and all other mothers and fathers who have chosen to circumcise their son's, not suppose to take that personally? Raising a child is personal. You have targeted every parent who has made that choice, how do you not see that?

^this

it's very strange because I feel like in the US theres hardly even a debate about circs.
In fact, this is the first article I've ever seen about it in the US.

BTW, I've never seen an uncircumcised penis.

I have never seen one either! I also feel like maybe the US and Canada are less judgmental on how each parents decides to raise their family.
Oh so now we're getting country-ist are we?! :winkwink: i don't think it's fair comment to say US and canada are less judgemental, it's not common practice over here so more shocking. Trust me, the UK is not a saintly perfect population, google jeremy kyle! Xx

:rofl::rofl:
'
Ok, that was a little bit of a jab as I was irritated... now seen quoted back to me... it may have been a little immature. whoops! :haha: I take it back!
hey, all taken in the spirit of healthy debate :hugs: xx

I've been to Nebraska once...my cousin lives in Hastings!

Never been to ND, been to SD several times though.
Brr...doesn't it get wicked in the winter?!

we won the weather channels worst weather in the united states contest. In the winter it can get down right frigid. I remember as a kid school getting cancled b/c the wind chills were so bad if you walked outside any exposed skin would freeze in like 3 minutes... we also had our last snow fall of the year (I hope) on May 1st...yuck.

Doctors do not push it, it is the parents choice.

I know dozens! :haha:

Doctors dont push it at all. I was given as stack of papers I had to read through and I had to sign paper work saying I made the decision my own and no doctors pressured it.

I agree...my doctor never even brought it up to me.
After I had James I asked my ped when it could be done.
no pressuring here!

 honestly your going to take it anyway you want regardless of what i say or feel because we think and feel very differently on this subject. Im sorry if you think my post is aimed at you on a personal level because its not. its aimed at circumcision.

brunette, with your gorgeous little baby, please don't be offended. The posts aren't personal and the more contraversial posts (yes you pepsi you little devil you!) are definitely very strongly worded but are attacking the practice not the people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion including people who are passionate, but i hate to think of you sat there hurting because of it x

THANKYOU!!! :happydance: someone who actually sees my post without the emotional attachment to the anti-/pro circumcision! :hugs:

I got asked probably over 10 times while we were in the hospital by multiple dr's and nurses if I was going to have him circumcised....almost like they were shocked that I wasn't.

To the poster who said doctors push circumcision: I can only speak for Canada, really just Ontario (as it may be different in other provinces), but here you have to pay several hundred dollars to have your son circumcised unless it's for medical reasons. My brother and sil had to request it at the hospital with my nephew as it wasn't offered to them.

I think it's the same here in Alberta. My best friend had both of her sons circumcised, and both times she had to request it, and pay $300(ish).

Thats really inappropriate then, it should not be pressured, at all. :flower:

same here. they infact tried to take him away to do it and i nearly screamed the room down at the nurse. i had already had it written into his notes that he wasnt to be circ'd and they STILL kept asking and then tried to take him away to do it. i was furious!

they apologised a bunch and said that it was so uncommon for someone to say no that they normally asked and then ok them because the mums always say yes.

it further annoyed me because then asked if they information on circ's and why they arent medically necessary anymore so that people can make an informed decision if they are going to constantly ask if the parents are going ot have it done. they said no they dont provide information about it. and then the nurse tried to tell me it prevents AIDS. :dohh:

WOAH! Whats going on over there in Mizzou?
Sounds like some psycho people working @ your hospital.

Are we allowed to be friends because we differ on circ views and I am a Husker fan and I'm assuming you may be a Mizzou fan???

I was given info on it from both veiw points. i had to sign papers giving consent to do it. and i had to pay for it.

it prevents aids?! That's like saying ear piercing prevents deafness :dohh:
