Ste Hay is left fighting for his life after downing a cocktail of alcohol and drugs.
The Chester favourite ends up in hospital wired to machines after taking the potentially lethal combination, which those closest to him fear it was a suicide attempt.
The drama kicks off after Ste clashes with his dad Danny about an incident with the Lomax clan.
Whilst bosses don't want us to reveal what the bust-up is about, we can reveal it's enough to push troubled Ste over the edge.
Fans will see him run off devastated and the steal a bottle of vodka from the restaurant before heading home where he takes drugs.
He then runs a bath which is a dangerous move as he's too wasted to keep his head above the water.
When they can't get through to him, worried Leela Lomax and John Paul McQueen decided to break into his flat and then kick open the bathroom down and pull their unconscious loved one out the tub.
Later John Paul looks on in horror as medics battle to save Ste.

Hollyoaks' Maxine Minniver looks back to her old self as she goes ahead with her plan to escape from her evil partner Patrick Blake this week.
Maxine (Nikki Sanderson) has spent the past few days plotting to flee from Patrick forever, wanting to put an end to her horrific domestic violence ordeal.
As seen in our exclusive pictures, Maxine finally makes it to the airport after Dennis Savage and Blessing Chambers help her to sneak away from the village on the eve of her wedding.

Maxine looks like a million dollars as she arrives for her flight to America, and it's clear that escaping from Patrick's clutches is a huge weight off her shoulders.
After saying an emotional goodbye to Blessing (Modupe Adeyeye), Maxine excitedly prepares to start her new life - but fans should brace themselves for one more twist to the tale.
A Hollyoaks source told Digital Spy: "Viewers know that Maxine will end up at the church for her wedding to Patrick, so what could possibly go wrong to stop her getting on that plane?"

Show bosses are promising unmissable episodes this week as Maxine and Patrick's long-running story comes to a head with their wedding, but fans will have to wait and see whether the ceremony goes ahead.
Hollyoaks airs Maxine's airport scenes tonight (July 28) at 7pm on E4 and tomorrow (July 29) at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

The article says the airport is on the eve of the wedding, and we know the event happens thanks to spoiler pictures, so I dont believe she is leaving yet, if at all

Ste (Kieron Richardson) turns to George for comfort when they both attend a LGBT '70s disco which is being held in the village.
In the aftermath of an accidental drugs overdose, Ste is still in a low mood and decides to forget his troubles by enjoying the event.
The night gets off to a good start for Ste when his fellow party guest Sinead Roscoe (Stephanie Davis) agrees that they can put their past troubles behind them and be friends again.
Soon afterwards, however, it's romance which seems to be on Ste's mind as he shares a kiss with George (Steven Roberts) at the party.
Hollyoaks fans will remember that the pair previously had a one-night stand early last year when Ste was in turmoil following his partner Brendan Brady's dramatic exit.
On the morning after Ste's partying, he wakes up with little memory of the night before, but is surprised when his younger sister Peri reveals that he had someone in his room with him.

Cindy Cunningham's loved ones will beg her to seek urgent help on Hollyoaks next month after her mental state hits an all-time low.
The troubled mother-of-two, who is suffering from bipolar disorder, experiences another breakdown after her plans to flee from the village almost cause a tragic accident.
As Cindy still thinks she can see her dead ex-lover Rhys Ashworth (Andrew Moss), she continues to follow his 'instructions' by making plans to travel to Hawaii with him and baby Hilton.
When 'Rhys' demands that his late baby daughter Katy should come along too, confused Cindy decides that she needs to snatch Diane O'Connor's little girl Dee Dee.
Stephanie Waring, who plays Cindy, told All About Soap: "In her confused state, Cindy makes her way to Tony's flat and goes to take Dee Dee, believing she's Katy. Just as Tony realises the twins' buggy is missing, he spots Cindy running through the village with it.
"A bus suddenly appears out of nowhere and Cindy completely freaks out. Tony manages to push Cindy and the buggy out of the way in the nick of time, but Cindy sees the bus hit imaginary Rhys. Cindy's completely devastated - she thinks that Rhys is dead and starts screaming, accusing everyone around her of killing him."
She continued: "Holly and Dirk find Cindy among all the chaos, and they try to make her realise that she's unwell and needs urgent help.
"But all Cindy can think about is what's happened to Rhys, and somehow she manages to climb in the bus and drive it away out of the village, which is pretty crazy."
Cindy's latest disappearing act will show the extent of her problems, but it's only the beginning of a long-running storyline for the show.
Waring explained: "It's not going to be as simple as Cindy gets help and everything is fine again. There's a lot more to come from this story - we're only just starting to scratch the surface.
"Cindy's bipolar disorder is on the higher end of the spectrum and we'll be spending the next few months exploring that. There will be no quick conclusion here."

Ste confronts Cameron and accidentally reveals his family is leaving. Cameron rushes to Leela and tells her Peri doesn't really want to go, and that they can be a family together. Leela reveals the truth to Peri - that she is her mother - in a bid to stop her from leaving.
