Hi ladies

This is a new thread following on from another in the 2ww. We had good chats going on there but I think it may have been an unlucky one for us as most got our :witch: this month.

Well, I bought the Clear Blue digital ovulation kit last night and today Im on CD6 and according to the insutructions today is the first day to use it. I did but I didn't get my smiley face. I didn't think I would as it's quite early but I think last month I ovulated earlier than I thought so fingers crossed.

xxx

I'm here with you Phoebemum!!! I'm going to but a opk this week, probs the smiley one too :) I'm cd3 today. Hopefully lots of :BFP:s this month round :) Good luck!!!

Good luck to you too!! I have to say I think the smiley face will make things a lot easier!! xx

Ok girls, as I mentioned in the other forum, here is the information I got from a cytogenetic presentation I went to. Not sure if any of you are aware but I thought I would share.

Basically, the study looked at couples with long term infertility where ther were no underlying issues (ie. they were normal healthy couples). It explored the effect of anti-sperm antibodies on the ability to conceive.

Anti-sperm antibodies are produced when your body mounts an immune response to your partners sperm. Our bodies see this as foreign and the immune system attacks them as it believes the sperm to be a threat. The cause is largely unknown, although it is possible to stop your body from producing this antibody. You need to stop all exposure to sperm, ie. no unprotected intercourse (vaginal or otherwise) and no "swallowing". It was found that there can be a relapse with even 1 instance of exposure in this time.

The presenter advised that 1 month would be sufficient to stop production of the antibodies (while ever they are present you will be unable to conceive). Of the couples they did the study on (these couples were tested and confirmed the woman was producing anti-sperm antibodies) they abstained from seminal contact for a one month period and then tried to conceive again. 60% of them got pregnant in the next cycle.

Now, this will not be the case for everyone. I am merely offering up the information for those who may not be aware. Seems like a simple thing to try if you have been trying unsuccessfully for a while.

My sister and her fiancé were TTC for several months. I told her about this and she was pregnant the very next cycle... Pretty awesome!

Like I said this is not every ones issue so this method may not help you but I would hate to think that people were unaware.

This is our 4th month TTC #1 so we have given it a go. Although, we are only doing it for 2 weeks as I don't want to wait a whole month. If I am not preg this cycle I may consider doing a whole month.

Anyway, I hope this I for is useful for some.

Going to go use my first ever opk now :) and I'll be seeing you girls in the next 2ww :)

Fxd to everyone :)

Hey ladies :) thanks for starting this thread Phoebemum!

Wannabe......thanks for posting that info, very interesting! I hadn't even thought of that possibility but when you read it it could explain a lot of couples unexplained infertility :) well I'm going to go for it hammer and tong this month......lol :) and if still no joy I think having a break from sperm for a month will be quite welcome - haha!!!

I'm also thinking of buying the CB OPK.....I like the thought of a smiley face - I tried IC ones a few months ago but didnt get on very well with them!

Good luck ladies :) xxxxx

Thanks so much wannabeamumma. That's really interesting, so great it worked for your sister in law.

Maybe give it a go next month if this cycle doesn't work.

Well, I've not had a smiley face on my CB digital yet but think we will start :sex: tonight if I can get hubby in the mood, Monday night is never good hehe xx

Hey suzzie, no worries, felt like the last post wasn't very lucky for us

Haha, hammer and tong, be careful of the bed hehe.

I want another :baby: now and I'm getting quite impatient. Although I know I'm so lucky having one already but she really needs a sister or brother and I feel that urge!

I love the smiley face ones. I think its such a good idea that its so accurate. I've been using the ovulation aps and I have decided they are awful, have 3 different ovulation dates from them!!

:dust: to all xx

No worries ladies, hope it was some what informational ;)

Phoebemum those apps really are awful I tried a few, also giving me different dates!!

I didn't end up getting the smiley opk there was none at the pharmacy I went to so i got some 'first response' ones. Came in a kit thing... We'll see how they go lol
We are also trying the Maybe Baby sperm friendly lubricant this month and hubby has gone on zinc and folate supplements to try and help him produce enough for how much I demand in that fertile window hahaha

We are both feeling really positive this month!! Looking forward to all the :sex: (especially poor DH since I'm making him wear condoms till I start the fertile window this cycle) and hoping for that :bfp:

Hopefully this is our month, this feels like a much luckier thread Phoebemum :)
:dust: to all!

I'm gonna start doing OPKs today because I'm on CD 11.

Ah Pheobemum :) I know what you mean.....the urge to have another is just as strong as it was to have your 1st :) but I have a good feeling about this month - your LO wont have to wait long for a little brother or sister ;)

Had anyone tried temping or use bb temping? Would you recommend? I'm not sure if it would be worth while so any experience/advice would be appreciated :)

Happy bumping - hehe ;D xx

I think this feels like a lucky cycle too Suzzie! Can't explain it just feel really positive.
Was going to try yemping but it seemed too intense, it would probably just stress me out lol. If I'm not PG with a few months I might consider it though.
DSchemo I started using opk today cd7.. First time using so I wanted to get a feel for it.
Had a nice faint line today so I know my baseline.
Good luck girls :dust:

Hopefully my OPK's, HPT's and BBT thermometer come in the mail today! :D I realized why I needed a BBT thermometer rather than a regular one.

Good luck DSemcho!! Im not quite ready to start temping yet. If nothing happens over this cycle then I might give it a go. I really hope this is a lucky one for us all.

I thought id get my smiley face this morning but I didn't. Wonder if I've got my ovulation days wrong. Thank goodness though as hubby was in a foul mood lat night and went to bed without me :-( !!!

Xx

Thanks Wannabeamumma :) I was thinking the same thing...I'm not sure that temping would lesson my 'slightly' obsessive tww nature, haha! But maybe I'll try it next month if I need to...

DSemcho.....so would you recommend buying a bbt? Is that because normal thermometers aren't accurate enough? Good luck with your new ttc kit ;) :)

Oh no Pheobemum!! Don't you just love it when the ol'DH decides to be in foul mood right before bed?! Lol I always feel really torn between not wanting to make up out of my own stubbornness, lol, and then wanting to make up for ttc purposes ;) hehehe!! At least it wasn't a smiley face day! Are you meant to pee on a OPstick in the a/noon?? Just checking as I'm sure I read that somewhere.....but maybe different brands have different methods?! :)

Come on lucky eggs out you pop :) xxxxx

Oh Im the same!! Didn't really want to speak to him at all out of stuborness and thought oh well I'll just leave you to your own bad mood and stay up and watch rubbish telly hehe. If it had been a smiley face day then I'd have probably gone to bed too haha.

The clear blue digital instructions said that it's best to do it first thing in the morning as you can do it at the same time every day and you have to make sure you haven't been for a wee for 4 hours. You're right though, I read that somewhere too so maybe its different brands have different instructions.

No smiley for me this am but I don't care if he's in a bad mood, he'll just have to get over it hehe.

Im the same, if I was tempting too I would literally be obsessed (or worse than I already am!!)

xx

Went to my doctor today about some females pains, and the knots on my cervix. She looked at me shocked and asked why I was checking my cervix and I told her we were NTNP - so she put me on prenatals lol.

Ooh, thats good!! I don't know if the doctors here would do that. I should try!!

Just off topic but I wondered if any of you ladies have thought about names? I know I'm way ahead but i think I have pregnancy and babies on the brain haha.

I am so stuck, we had names first time and I still like them but they've become really popular over the last few years so who knows!! xx

You should get checked for hpv hun. That can be a sign of it and can lead to cervical cancer and infertility. PLEASE get checked out!

Lmao Phoebemum :D it all sounds familiar to me.....hehe! Hopefully your DH is over his bad mood tonight ;)

Strangely enough I've been running through names lately too - all of the ones that were on the top of my list last time......well, I'm not sure if I still like them do much?! Hmmm, DH is like 'hey, one step at a time' lol :) but someone has to think of these things, right?! Haha :)

Fingers Xd for smiley faces soon....hehe xxxxx
