So my soon to be 4yo daughter has told me she wants a hot wheels "slide" (track) for her birthday! (With 10 cars too lol) so I have zero idea on hot wheels so need some advice on what is best to buy. I saw a fugue 8 one on offer that is in stock in my local smyths apparently otherwise I'm lost. I'm gonna get it from my friend in New Zealand who has sent over £25 to buy her a pressie so something in that budget too :) that doesn't have to include cars, I've seen them in home bargains for 99p each so can get them from us even though I'm supposed to have finished buying oops!

I'm new to buying the tracks too, Rio's still young so I've only got a couple of the simpler ones. Argos do packs of 10 cars in their 2 for £15 if you want to get quite a few it works out a bit cheaper than the £1 each :)

We have a hot wheels garage/car wash thing but it was bought several years ago so I'm not sure it can be found now. They have some other pretty cool garages out now though.

We also have this

Which is really cool but it is HUGE. Really really big. We only have two of the tracks connected right now as it takes up so much room but it's fun to play with. We race cars on them and set up different obstacles/loops/courses with it.

And we have one that is a couple of loops that you crank and put the cars in and they go on their own. It's fun to play with but he gets more use out of the garage and the one I linked--there is just more to do with those :)

Wow that does look impressive! I saw this one which I looked at you you tube and she likes it (especially when the cars crashed :-/) as they went on their own I though she'd like it

But good point on a garage too getting more play! Never thought of that :)

We have numerous track sets. By far though my 5year olds favorites are the wall tracks, or the build your own tracks (you can get boosters, hoopy loopys (its what my son calls them), and clamps so you can start them up on tables and what not). For good ideas go to www.toysrus.com they have awesome build your own track kits.

^we bought some build your own/expansion tracks for Rhys for Christmas (or maybe they are for hubby?)

This is the latest we one we bought for his birthday

Just make sure to buy the right cars, you need the cars that are marked red as they are narrower than other cars.

Ah another one I was looking at :) I got the figure 8 one the other day as it's not too big if it turns out she doesn't play with it often then thought we could get this with her birthday money if she wants more :) I was thinking if it mattered which cars you had so I've not actually bought cars yet (well apart from a spider man one just cause she likes spider man lol). I couldn't see anything on the box in the shop but the car that came with it did look longer and narrower

On the right side of the pack there is a colour code for different tracks, ours work with HW race (red), the tracks usually have a collection name on the pack like race, city, etc.

I looked on the box and it had a pic of a car in the red packet, never noticed until then although I've not bought them very often lol, just
One here and there and she's always picked one out. So will be picking some up :) when I googled them the argos offer mentioned earlier in thread came up so will have to get them. Although don't know if she really needs 20 ha ha ha.

I also didn't notice the colour thing until we bought the last track, it worked fine with the car that came with the tracks, but none of the HW cars we bought earlier worked or fit, they got stuck when they reached the wheel thingy that pushes the cars forward to the loops. It is no fun with one car only loool , so we had to buy a pack of 6 from the race collection.

Oh shoot. I didn't know there were different types of cars! I've got different tracks too. I wish it was made more obvious! And I've just brought a box of 50 cars so I hope they'll be compatible with his sets!!!

I saw the 50 car deal!! :)
N yeh no fun with one car, she likes it when they crash :-/ lol

Is the elimination one good? My brother has bought this for my LO for Christmas.
