How do you pronounce

People call me Jay-LEE with a lot of exaggeration on the Lee when me and my whole family say it like Hayley but with a J instead of a H

People called Halen "Aylen" which annoys me. His name begins with a H not an A grrr

Oooh, but that must be something of the dialect. My husband always leaves out the H when a word does start with it. It annoys me too, haha!

My little ones name is Lillyann pronounced like Lilian but everyone tends to pronounce it Lilly Ann which annoys me too so I can certainly empathise with you.

Hence why when it came to Lucas' name we made sure it was a name that can't really be mispronounced

If I'm being totally honest. I can't stand names that are spelt differently to the normal version. I really don't see the point and think its quite a chavvy thing to do just to stand out.
What's wrong with just calling you kid its name with its normal spelling, stops people mispronouncing it and means your kid can actually spell it when they learn to write and not get their name or everyone else name wrong constantly because they are different!! EG: jadan ~jayden, jaden, jaydan, jaedan, jaeden, jaedyn!
The English language is meant to be pronounced a certain way therefore pronounce it that way or speak another language because you might as well if you think 'aa' should be said 'ae'!!!

Rant over - I'm going to go hide in the corner until everyone likes me again....

I wish I would of spelt Hallie's name 'Halle' now though because of the sheer amount of people that call her Hayley. At the time though I was scared of people pronouncing Halle like Belle and thinking her name is Hall.

But the other downside is if handwritten, people think the 'a' is a 'o' and she is called Hollie!!

So, I dont like the 'original' spelling of my son's name which is 'Kaeden'(it's Irish Gaelic),but I loved the name so instead of changing the spelling to the way I liked it (Caidan) I should have just not used the name?

When people inadvertently then give their kids completely different name meanings by trying to put their own unique take on it with spelling like in your example...that makes me laugh! I shouldn't I know

The only one I have problems is with Kaysie, a lot of people if they hear it and not read it think it is Katie.

I am probably one of the people that are using the random spellings people have made up but I actually thought that Casey (where Kaysie originates from) looks like Cas-see, I didnt know that was pronounced as KAY-see as the Y was at the end (not sure that makes sense), I did consider Kaysee but didnt like the look (no offence meant) so Kaysie was the next best thing.

I completely agree! Whats with all the stray "y"s these days? Basically people use them when they've chosen a common name but want to be "different". I end up pronouncing it "iiin". Jaiydynn= "jay-diin"...because that's how it's spelled! If they wanted "jay-dun" then it should be spelt in a way that represents that, like Jayden I don't get it

Agree with the others about names from other languages though, but thats totally different. That's spelling them right because they're not English

Máilie's name is pronounced My-lee, the name 'Maile' is Hawaiian and the meaning means a lot to my husband and I but I didn't want to spell it like that because it doesn't look pretty so we added an 'i' and an accent to show it's not 'May-Lee' people still get it wrong though, we get Marley, Mallie, Millie, May-Lee, Mollie (the list goes on lol!) but a lot of people do pronounce it right. Does that make us chavvy lol??

I really didn't want to spell it Miley because that to me isn't even a real name (no offence) it was a made up nickname and my baby girl is in no way named after Miley Cyrus lol!!

Rayan is pronounced a lot like Ryan, but it sounds totally different. You say all the letters and the a-s sound like the a in 'car'.
My name is always pronounced wrong in England. It is Jen, but over here a J is like an english Y, but I don't mind either way!!
