- How many cycles did it take you to get your BFP once you started trying?
- If you were on BCP, how long were you off it before conceiving?
- Were you actively TTC or taking a NTNP approach?
- If actively trying, what did you do/take to help?

Just curious as today is my first day off BCP after several years and I am taking more of a NTNP approach to pregnancy by just letting whatever happens happen. I don't plan on checking my temp, tracking my ovulation or any of that, and I have no idea what to expect, if anything, so I thought I'd see what the experience was for you lovely expecting ladies. Thanks :)

Hi, I got my periods back after having my second child in December '14. Then from that we were NTNP but my period went AWOL from January to beginning of April. I was still breastfeeding my youngest who was 1 1/2 yrs. When my period returned, we carried on NTNP but didn't use anything to help either.

Got my BFP in early August but my last period was in June. I had no symptoms at all, I just thought I was having another wacky few months like earlier in the year. Started doing OPK's to see if I was even O'ing and everyone that I took had a line, the first few faint and I thought I was going to O soon. Then they started getting darker and were as dark as the control line. They stayed like that for a few days so I posted the results on here on a different thread and someone asked if I'd done a recent pregnancy test. So next time I was doing my OPK test, I stuck my last HPT in the sample as well and BINGO... BFP :)

So if we count from January as the official starting point- it took 6 months.
It's taken 6 months for EACH of my children to be conceived! How weird is that?!

Hi! Same story with my first and second :)
Was on the pill - first time for 5 years second time for nearly 2 years, came off, had a breakthrough bleed and started not trying not protecting until I had a proper period, then tracked ovulation with OPKs. Started taking prenatals as soon as I was off the pill, conceived first cycle of actively trying. I feel very lucky :)

With my first, I was on birth control for years and then stopped when we got married. We were NTNP for 7 months then got pregnant, but it ended in m/c. Started actively trying after that and got pregnant with my DD 4 months later. I got the Mirena put in at my 6 week postpartum check and then had it removed in November '14 and started trying right away. I got pregnant on my 3rd month trying, but again, it sadly ended in m/c  We kept on trying immediately and I finally got pregnant again 6 months later and am now 7 1/2 weeks.

It took 18 months to conceive my first. My second son was a surprise, conceived 8 months after his brother, and my third was a surprise 2 months after his birth. My fourth (current) was planned. It took 6 months to get a cycle, i went on birth control for 3 months at that point, and after I went off of it, it took 3 months to conceive. I have PCOS and various other issues that cause infertility.

Was actively TTCing for 20 months before finally getting a BFP with DS. Didn't do anything special other than using OPK's.

This time we were NTNP for the first time after a 2 month break of NTNP (for 3 months) and fell straight away. Did not expect it after the trouble getting DS. Had been intending on actively TTCing later this year.

My first took 6 yrs, I tracked cm, and took clomid then after 4 months of stopping (Dr wanted to pursure more aggressive treatment, we did not) got my BFP. My second we were ntnp for 6 months then got my BFP.

I was not on BC and it took 3 months this time but unfortunately that ended early in miscarriage then one cycle after that we were pregnant again :)
With my first son I was on BC and got pregnant and with my second son we were NTNP for one month and we conceived with pull out method (but there was one night he was a little late lol. )

With this pregnancy it took two (soy) cycles after surprise MC
With our son we NTNP for about a year and a half, TTC for about 8 more months, one MC and then one (soy) cycle and got pregnant

No previous birth control unless you count me being on the pill in high school lol

NTNP and TTC with #1
TTC with this one

Both times I miscarried I did soy cycles after and got BFP shortly after. (soy isoflavones , "natures clomid")

Both BFP cycles I also took

Geritol (tonic one month with our son ; complete two months this time) (old wives tale is theres a baby in every bottle)
Green tea before O for good CM
Robitussen for good CM
Grapefruit juice for CM
Royal Jelly (egg quality)
Raw honey (egg quality and overall fertility)
Cinnamon capsules (read it was good in conjunction with raw honey for overall fertility and promotes blood flow) (found out when I was diagnosed with GD that it helps control blood sugar like metformin)
Folic acid
Not supplement but both O days I fell asleep with my butt on a pillow after :sex:

This go 'round I added CoQ10 for egg quality

Hope this helps!

I was on BC for years, and then I stopped taking it so we could try for our son - more NTNP then anything. After 12 months nothing was working, so we went to see a fertility specialist and ended up doing one round of IVF/ICSI and had our precious boy in January. I started taking BC again after he was born, but I would always forget to take it but I didn't think it was a big deal considering the trouble we had with DS, and straight away I fell pregnant. Surprise! So now i'm roughly 5 weeks, and DS is 7 months. A lovely surprise! I feel very lucky to have fallen pregnant naturally this time around.

GL to you xxx

I was on BCP for about 5 years, and started TTC as soon as I stopped taking it. I temped, used OPKs and took TTC vitamins. We finally got pregnant on the 8th cycle (7 months)

Oh and my first cycle was 45 days long but after that, my cycles regulated.

With my first I was on the pill for a good 5ish years and conceived first month after stopping. Haven't been on the pill since just condoms and with this baby conceived second month of trying. But I appreciate on both counts I've been very lucky.

I had the implanion in, I had it took out on 2nd July... I got my BFP on 10th August. So I got pregnant first cycle. I had to period I between either. Didn't do nothing special x

With my first he was a surprise when I was on the pill. My stupidity really. I was on the combined pill with a week off. I had a bad stomach for around 5 days after my week off, but it was the next week after that that we didn't use any backup. I didn't even think to, but that was the week he was conceived.

With our second I had been on the mini pill for about a year when I came off it to regulate my cycles before we started trying a few months later. We fell pregnant with her second cycle trying. I took soy isoflavones as I ovulated a different day each cycle and it seemed to be getting later and later each cycle. Soy helped me ovulate on CD12 that cycle.

This time was more complicated. I had been waiting for periods to return after having my daughter, as we wanted a small age gap between our last two kids. I breastfed until just last week though at 13 months, so my periods didn't return till 8 months pp and my cycles were highly irregular and long even when they did return. This time I fell pregnant third cycle, but it's taken 5 months. I was about to try soy next cycle again as I have now stopped breastfeeding.

Good luck!

I was on the mini-pill for 3 years. We started TTCing about 2 months after I stopped bcp, and it took 10 cycles after that before I got pregnant (with one chemical during that time).

I didn't take anything to help me conceive, though I did get my thyroid levels checked (and adjusted). I checked my bbt for half my cycles and I found that it really helped me pin point (and confirm) ovulation, especially since I have a very short LH surge.

Good luck!

Took us 17 months before getting pregnant with this pregnancy. Had a chemical at 1 month and a mc at 16 months.

Started ttc and after 2 cycles was pregnant with my daughter. Then went off the pill when she was 13 months old and conceived 2 months later (breastfeeding still). Had the mirena inserted and fell pregnant 4 years later.. WITH the mirena.. but gynaecologist can't find it, so it's either fallen out or perforated the uterus.

My first was an oops... a one time slip up.

My second took about 13 months to conceive and I used preseed the last two cycles.

This baby took two months to conceive and I used eggwhites.

I have not been on bcp for a long time so I can't factor that into my ttc journeys.

I stopped bcp in april and had a withdrawal bleed. Then had 2 wacky irregular cycles which I attribute to coming off the pills without doing anything. 3rd cycle I decided to actively ttc and used opks and Smep but not strictly and thankfully got pregnant. With dd I stopped bcp got a withdrawal bleed and didn't get my period back because I got pregnant straight away. Still feel very fortunate for both times. I also think age makes a huge difference. With dd i was only 22 now I'm 25 so i think every few years can make a difference in fertlity.

Got pregnant first cycle trying. We were TTC but not doing anything special. Just DTD every second day, and daily for about 3 days when I thought I would be ovulating.
