How much time is your OH taking off work to be home?

My OH owns his own company.

His current contract finishes October so he will be off from then til after the New Year (unpaid)

So, around 2-3 months off - cant wait!!

He only had 2 weeks off when I had my first baby and he (and I) would have loved it to be more!

This time we will have 2 children under 2 so I want him around for the first month or so anyway!

We are very lucky that my hubby's company is great about this! He gets 2 full paid weeks if I have a natural birth, and 3 weeks full paid if I have a c-section- Thank Goodness, Im going to need the help! My mom is also taking about 1 weeks off to help out

I'm in the US, so it's shockingly bad here with maternity/paternity leave. My hubby gets NONE. He has saved up his sick and vacation days and gets a whopping 10 work days to be home with me. I'm nervous about him going back to work and me being on my own so soon! I've tried talking him into taking unpaid time off (Family Medical Leave Act means he can take up to 12 weeks unpaid) but he's so worried about money he won't even take a few days off unpaid.

How much time are your OHs taking off to be home with you?

I'm trying to talk DH into taking some unpaid time.

I guess I'm kind of lucky due in November because he'll get another few days over Christmas and New Years (like 2 more days :dohh)

it's the same here - my husband is using his 10 days of vacation/sick leave, then he'll get 1 day for Thanksgiving and 1 day for Christmas after that as company holidays. i'm just glad we're not due in January - i don't know what we'd do b/c his vacation/sick leave accrues from month to month.

the funny thing is, last year, when we miscarried, he was given 3 days paid bereavement leave (which we were thankful for) - they give you free days for losing a baby, but none for having a healthy one...

im lucky and my OH gets disability and retirement from the military so he quit his side job so we don't have to pay for day care when i go back to work. so we'll have 6 weeks together until i go back to work!!

OH will take about 2 weeks off. This is a good portion of his vacation time. Besides this I'll have him home during thanksgiving holidays. He also gets about 1 week during the last week of the year.
However, my mother and father are visiting me for 3 months to help me cook, clean , take care of baby etc. We have a big enough apartment so I'm quite happy

Gets back on the 15th of October and will be back for a month.
He'll be spending as much time with me and the baby as he can.
Then he'll be off out again for 2 weeks and back for christmas .
Looking forward to spending some mummy and daddy time with him :O
Still doesnt sound right as this is our first baby and i dont know we seem to be even closer
then ever now. I love it .
When i get get into a routine i will probably get back into a part time job when i can.

My husband is going to be a SAHD, and his last day of work is one week before my due date, or when the baby comes if it's earlier. So the question is really how long does he have me---and the answer to that is hopefully just six weeks.

That sucks that he won't be there when you have your baby! my OH medically retired from the army in june so it was kind of perfect timing now he gets VA benefits, disability, and retirement from the army then when LO gets here his monthly benefits will go up

My OH is taking the 2 weeks paternitt leave and a weeks holiday. So 3 weeks all together. Can't wait as he's been working every day over the summer (he works in a hotel)

2 weeks of paid leave. Then he'll be heading back. He doesn't want to take unpaid either, as we'll need it while I'm on leave fore the 12 weeks.

I don't work full time so I'm not eligible for mat leave this time around - so money will be tight! Otherwise OH is eligible for 35 weeks of pat leave - but he would only get 55% of his salary. We're trying to figure something out though - would be great if he could take time off until after Christmas! (LO due in November) xx

DH was going to take 1 week paid paternity leave then 1 week annual leave but he was made redundant from his job last week so that has thrown it all up in the air!

Luckily he has picked up some casual work and has a few opportunities for permanent positions but it means we are a bit unsure as to how much leave he will be able to take.

dh is taking 2 weeks holiday as SPP if only 130 for 2 weeks which we cant afford to lose lots of money x

My husband is taking two weeks paternity leave, one full pay and one the same as SMP (so about £128 or something crazy). We're going take the hit rather than have him waste his annual leave.

My OH will be taking his full 2week paternity leave and any holiday day's he has left. He then get's 2week's ish off work for christmas and new year (good old office work, has it's uses!) so it won't be too bad.
With my first, i was 12day's late and obviously didn't know what to expect, my OH wasn't entitled to paternity leave as he hadn't been in the job for the entire pregnancy (took the job after we found out we were havin a sprog lol) and ended up taking almost all of his holiday leave before our son arrived as i was so scared i was gonna go into labour by myself! Our son was born at 00:26 on the wednesday and my OH had to go back to work on the Tuesday, so i was then left alone monday-friday 8-6 since he was 6days old
So this time it'll be alot better because i won't be freakin out about goin into labour like first time, my OH will be able to have more time at home once baby arrives

I was jus thinkin the same thing!! I can't imagine having to go back to work so quickly after having a baby!!
