My consultant scan this morning didn't go too well

It looks even more complex than the consultant actually thought. She has no idea what the mass is or what the thing is that's running through the centre of it. It's right next to the cord apparently and almost joined on but it's not the cord running through the middle (which is what it looked like to me). The consultant admitted that she hasn't got a clue and has referred me to St Mary's (where I had my last 3 children anyway) for a scan with a specialist over there.....not till next Monday at 3pm though


She seems more concerned about the delivery of baby, and said I may will have to prepare myself for a c-section. Not something I'd ever anticipated but as long as my baby is ok....I don't mind

C-section, fair enough, that we can deal with. But another week of waiting for an appointment with another consultant aaaargh, I know theres nothing else to do but wait and hope but I'm truly gutted for you. How far along are you today? 22 weeks? For flip sake I hope the next consultant can give you some kind of answer. I'll be wishing the week away for you.

I can cope with needing a c-section, of course....but this is only if baby manages to stay healthy coz my consultant said the other day about the cord possibly being compromised and literally being squashed by the growth/cyst or whatever it is, which could restrict oxygen and nutrients getting to baby....causing....well I'm not saying it, but you know....that's the bit that I'm worrying about the most

I'm sorry hun. The doctors told me the same thing with low amnotic fluid....if it is caused by something being wrong with the placenta......I hate doctors sometimes. I'm wishing all the best for you at the next scan.

You poor thing. The waiting game is the worst

Well hopefully its just a c section you're having to deal with. It may be that if they're worried that as the baby gets bigger it become a bigger problem it might be an option to have the baby a bit earlier - when he;s still fully healthy, but just before he pads out too much!
