Illegal drugs - worse than legal ones?

Thinking about what Janidog said, how do the people that use illegal drugs feel about their money funding criminal organisations?

You really don't know where your money is going and i doubt it goes to your local church donation box...

Oh I dont know, is it worse than funding a house for ducks in your back garden?

I would hate for cannabis to be legalised as tbh smoking, for me,in public is bad enough. Would I want to be standing next to a man/woman at the bus stop smoking a joint? No way! Especially not with Adam in tow.

So if it was legalised what we talking.. same as alcohol - not on the streets - or like smoking - basically anywhere barr indoors? Would there be an age limit on it?

And with regards to RP saying it can be grown outdoors in uk - that I most certainly would not like. I mean children would be able to get their hands on it easier that way.

id be happier if it remained illegal.

i actually agree. if cannibis were legalized then you cant expect it to affect other people by smoking it in public. but if you could only smoke indoors then your child is at risk. so no,cannibis sholdint be made legal

Ever heard of gardens?

My next door neighbor sits out on his balcony smoking it, the smell and smoke comes in and fills our livingroom and I have to close all the doors and windows and put LO in the other room because the smell of it makes him very sick to the point he has been to the hospital because of thats why the police and enviromalntal health got involved and threatened to have him evicted if he didnt stop it.

Why should I be turned into a prisoner in my own home have to shut the windows during the summer (our flat is normaly about 32-42c during summer even with all the doors open and fans on) and sit in a sweltering hot flat waiting for him to go back inside so I can air the place back out before bringing my baby back into the living room.

Smokey, that is a flat balcony which is quite different to a garden. Personally i think you should be a certain diatance away from occupied buildings to smoke tobacco and anything else if it were to be made legal.

But the problem is you couldnt realy inforce the general public on where they smoke it if it is say for instance out on a balcony, only reason anything was done about it was because it was illigal, if it was legal then no one would of cared or helped me.

Anyway as iv said before I relay dont care about the legality of it all, people can smoke it till it comes out their ears for all I care as long is its not affecting me or my baby.

is there anyone on here that actually still smokes weed? if so, when do you do it? and how long after smoking it do you hold your baby?

I do. I do it right after my son goes to bed for the night until I go to bed. It really helps me relax and go to sleep. And during the day after my son goes down for his 2 hour nap, I smoke a bowl and take a shower. Then when I get out my son wakes up and I carry on with the day. I cook, I clean, I am currently a stay at home mom but was employed as a nanny for 2 years prior to this.

The people I nannied for, knew I smoked and occasionally the mom would smoke with me after work after her children went to bed.

I feel this does not effect my parenting AT ALL.

My son is well fed, well clothed, bathed, and always well taken care of.

I think redpoppy made some really great points.

AOB- I didn't say YOU were uneducated and I'm not judging you based on your opinion. I am simply saying that some opinions are not factual and have no logic behind them.

Again I feel even if tomorrow a scientist said there wasn't anything harmful about weed, the government and law offcials would be mighty embarassed and not wanna come right out and say "Oh we messed up". Because for the last so many years they've been brainwashing you into thinking it was bad. And its worked on quite a few people.

Wow so you smoke that much and you try and take care of your son :growlmad:

I wouldn't employ you to look after my child knowing that you smoke weed, i would never be able to trust your judgement or your ability to look after a baby. To me its the same as if you had a few classes of wine whilst doing your job :growlmad:

Can we get off the parenting subject please? It isn't what the debate is about and it gets a little personal :flower:

How about we just decriminalise consumption but make smoking it (and all substances) illegal? That way all your concerns are now put to rest. Yay! Fun all round. Hash cakes, bhang lassi drinks, happy pizza, marijuana chocolate, and my personal favourite; maryjane milkshake! yum! NO smoke! No smell! easy to lock away in cupboards and cabinets just like alcohol but MUCH less addictive, MUCH less damaging, much less risk of violence or death.

who's with me? :happydance:

As for kids breaking into other people's back yards: control your children! You don't know WHAT's in people's back gardens: dangerous dogs or other animals, broken glass, people having orgies, infected rotting meat.

Wine class: makes your knowledge of wines meet upper class standards.

Please note my tongue is firmly in my cheek. :haha: :flower:

I would never myself or promote smoking daily, but if you have smoked you'd know that it doesn't really effect that much other than your perception of the world and your ability to do tasks which require a lot of mathematical type application. If you get into something it actually can make you better. Many people play computer games BETTER high than when not high. But people always compare it to alcohol. Which is a little like saying "well if you enjoy a glass of red with your meal why don't you just shoot heroine with it and be done with it?" They're not the same thing. It can make you relaxed, more empathic and in certain jobs might help, such as those where working directly with people and needing to be sympathetic and empathic would be helpful.

I wouldn't do it at work, actually I say that but I have done, I used to work in radio many years ago and me and my boss (the boss of the whole radio station at that!) used to go out for a smoke every now and then but quite rarely, but yeah I wouldn't TEND to do it at work as it doesn't keep me that productive, but after work's out of the way, then why not?

I've already taken the digs, and it's not nice so can we please stop feeling the need to judge someone else's parenting? Zen is being honest, which is something I think should be applauded not frowned upon. You may not agree with her smoking pot while her child is home sleeping/napping and it's okay to say "I personally wouldn't do that" Or something a little less judgemental but the way you worded your reply seems a little mean. From someone who has experience with people smoking regularly, it doesn't make you incapable of taking care of a child... usually. People are different and their parenting styles are different but that doesn't make them bad parents... I have things I wouldn't do that lots of Moms do and I mean lots!!! But I do not pass judgement on them, unless they are hurting or neglecting their children, then yes.... it's wrong. Anyways please no personal digs towards someone for their choices in their lives:) We get enough of that elsewhere. :)

Lmfao sorry. I was tired. I meant its not much better when you pay taxes and fund for the government to have ducks houses... lol x

Again, more judgement... wow... should I be surprised?

I wouldn't let a drug taker look after my son .. it's not that i'm judging, i just don't think it's acceptable or appropriate.

But you'd let someone who drinks alcohol take care of your son. Even though it's a worse drug in terms of addiction, bodily damage and risk of violence and death.

Well done!

Don't need the sarcasm ;)

Absoloutely not .. nor someone that smokes!

Alcohol, drugs and cigarettes don't go near my baby

Okay, that's actually fair then.

Just going by your last thing where you said when you said "drugs" in future you meant illegal ones.

So have you never left your son with anyone who enjoys a glass of wine/beer/vodka now and again?

I have never left my son with anyone else to this date, and i don't intend to either. Only i can look after him in the way i want to.
