Hey there. When I was induced I packed just as I would have if I wasnt being induced I just packed a few more things for entertainment like a long book( didnt end up needing it as it was only 8 hours start to finish). I was told to have a good meal before going in because i would need my strength. Dont eat anything greasy or spicy though as it may upset your tummy( I was never sick during labor but have read of lots of women who were)

For me I packed
All my toiletries( shampoo, soap, lotion, tooth brush, toothpaste, deodorant)
My own towel as the hospital ones were really small
Nursing bra, pads
Maternity pads
2 pairs of loose pants
2 big comfy shirts
slippers and housecoat
socks
head bands and hair elastics
phone, camera and chargers and a book with all the numbers I would need in it
long book and magazines
my pillow

for baby
3 newborn outfits( onesie and pants )
3 0-3 outfits( onesie and pants )
3 newborn sleepers
3 0-3 month sleepers
3 socks
3 hats
3 mitts
2 receiving blankets
1 soft blanket
2 clothes
a soother just in case( didnt end up using it)
( we packed lots of clothes because we didnt know how big or small she would be and its a good thing we did because she was a pukey baby)

pretty sounds like you are sorted and yes i would bring snacks..you may be too side tracked to eat them or even remember but they are there if you need them..this time round im taking a pack of cards with me too lol give us something to do

Thanks for your comments guys.. I also thought about packing some playing cards... I'm trying to think of any games I want to add to my phone before the big day. and I have a new Chicken Soup book so I should pack that as well :)

Here you are not provided with a gown to labour in, so I took a nightie that buttoned at the front (for feeding)
Also my pillow and tens machine were my saviours
Nappies and cotton wool for lo if they are not provided ( here they are not )
Small teddy for lo
Muslin squares
Babygrows/onesies

Definitely snacks / book / cards etc
Maybe spare top for oh in case you are sick

I think I'll have a snack bag :haha: and a over night bag with all my clothing items :) my mom 's coiming instead of FOB and I know she's going to need some long thick socks! lol! she gets cold really easily.

In the us the hospital will provide drinks, baby clothes, pads,etc...so your list sounds fine. Most docs don't want you to eat during induduction, FYI. J
Hospital has snacks If you can... Or just bring money for vending machines!

i just realized i don't have any sanitary napkins for when i make it home. i'd better get some to start with

And take as many home from the hospital as you can :)

The amount of 'free' stuff you can take home from US hospitals counteracts the huge price tag somewhat, so might as well get your money's worth! The nurses usually will help you stockpile some stuff to take home with you too :)

I wasn't allowed to eat anything except sugar free popsicles during my induction. I am glad I did not take any of my own sleepwear to the hospital and used their gowns. Whether you give birth natually or c-section, there will be a lot of mess when your waters break and a lot of blood for days afterwards. I just brought a robe from home and used their gowns. I also didn't take any clothes for the baby except for a going home outfit as he just stayed swaddled and cozy!

Don't overpack; leave lots of room in your bags for hospital samples, etc. They will provide pads for you and diapers for the baby.

I will definitely be bringing snacks this time. I wasn't nauseated at all with my son, and they didn't feed me and by the time he arrived, I was so hungry I could have eaten a plastic cup.

Definitely have a good, filling meal before you leave to be induced. You may or may not throw it up later, and if it takes 14 hours from start to finish (did for me)... you're going to be happy that you ate something other than jello. I only had a sandwich before I left and they would only give me ice chips. Ridiculous. I am packing snacks and eating a full meal before I go to the hospital this time, induced or not!

Also be sure there's food/drinks for your OH. Our hospital never offered my husband anything to eat, poor guy.

You may want some comfy socks... they keep those rooms freezing cold because you get so hot while laboring, but I do remember that my feet kept getting cold. I only had a thin pair of socks on. :haha:

i've been in and out of labor and delivery so much i think i've had a chance to meet all the nurse's :haha: they seem pretty nice and i should take a picture so you guys can see how huge my bag is for all the freebies :)

Don't remember if your list had your baby book? For baby's footprints?

I was induced.... And they wanted me to eat before I came in, but they said nothing really heavy or greasy. They said soup and sandwich type thing vs a steak and potato dinner. My hospital fed me during labor until I had the epi. So I went in at.7:30 pm after eating dinner and then had cervidil for 12 hrs before pitocin started. The next morning I was fed a light breakfast and lunch, but then mid afternoon after the epi I was only allowed Popsicles and such but was too busy to have any. They provided all that. However they wouldn't feed my dh anything. So bring snacks for your mom including drinks. They provided drinks including juices for me. Dh went to Arby's after Megan was born to get us both food as he hadn't eaten all day and I was starved. The security asked him where he was going after he got back... He didn't remember the room number so they asked him what floor. And he named a floor that was higher than the hospital went. Lol... So they gave him a hard time... But was finally allowed in after they got ahold of the nursing station.

I brought a pillow which I was glad I had my own. I didn't bring any pads, didn't use my undies as I found that it was easier to use theirs. And when they got blood on them I didn't feel bad just throwing them out.

Cards sounds like a good idea. I was too excited and nervous to read anything but think cards would make me feel busy.

And my hospital was hot so even after delivery I only wanted light clothing.
