Introduce your VIP (Very Important Preemie!)

aww thanks you guys :) i knew i was going to have an emergency c-section, we just didn't know when, so we were so over-prepared - especially as i have huge anxiety of medical situations and touch. i was going to have my husband record it all on our video camera, but we were worried he might pass out lol, so he just took those photos with our digital camera instead.

i have photos of every stage, being led down to the theatre, having the canulas put it and the epidural and spinal block, then lots of Sam still in the theatre with the pediatric doctors looking after him and wrapping him up before whisking him off to intensive care. we got a fab photo just before they took him too,of me DH and Sam:

Sam was born at 4.45pm, and i got to have cuddles that evening, just after 9pm! i don't remember it at all though to be honest.

Marleysgirl, Andrew sounds amazing, he has done so well!

Hi All,

My little lady Ava was born on the 5th April 2009 @ 26 weeks and weighing 1lb 11oz. This was due to my placenta abrupting unfortunately and resulted in her being delivered by emergency c-section. We spent 113 days in 4 different hospitals and we thought we'd never get her home.

She's 8 months old this Saturday and weighing 15lb 2oz! I just cannot believe where the time has gone and she really is my little miracle ;o)

I'm adding to this thread a little late, but better late than never I guess! Millie was born at 26+3 due to Pre-Eclampsia. She was 620g, around 1lb 5oz at birth. She has been through such a lot, blood transfusions, heart operations, ventilated for months and is finally, after nearly four and a half months is now home on oxygen. The first pic was taken on Aug 4th, the day after she was born, and the second was taken on Dec 12th, two days after being discharged from hospital.

What a great thread this is, it showcases our strong babies, and also all the strong mummys on this site. All the babies are so gorgeous, I think this thread must be so inspirational to familys who find themselves in NNU with a premmie. Well done all :happydance:

Awwwww, Millie's looking fantastic, Sherry - you must be so pleased to have her home for Christmas!

How much does she weigh now? Andrew weighed in at 6lb 5oz last week. Has Millie turned into a chunky monkey since recovering from her op?

Just realised I haven't added any photos of Andrew since he came home! Here he is chilling out with his Daddy ...

Me too bumpsmum we nearly took them one day but then thought we'd better leave them just incase then they were gone! They look so cute don't they!

All of your babies are just beautiful, I am so happy to read all the success stories. I never had any preemie babies (mine born at 38wks, 37wks, 39wks), I am carrying twins at the moment and the thought of coming early and having preemie babies scares me.
Although I pray I don't have to experience a preemie journey it was so wonderful reading all the success and giving me hope just incase.

Ladies your babies are just perfect, congratulations:hugs:
