hi everyone, i think i am going to be prescribed metformin once i have seen the consultant, i was wondering if it is free with the NHS or a pay prescription, as it is given for a life long condition (if i am reading right) as i think for some illnesses they are free.
thanks x

Probably different to where I am, but we have to pay here

I'm lucky I have a diabetic mother (well not really lucky per say) who was taken off Met recently, she has so many boxes of Met 1000mg Tablets, so I have probably about 6 months supply as she gave me all hers

Yep you have to pay, unless you are exempt (on JSA, income support etc). If you have other prescriptions then its def worth while getting a 3 or 6 month prepay certifictae (as you can then have as many prescriptions as you need in that time for no extra money. This worked out much better for me when i was having met, clomid, trigger shot aswell as normal meds :)
