Is there anything they can do next time I get pregnant?

From what I have seen (in books and on the internet), the most likely reason for my MC (this week) was that the baby just "wasn't meant to be" and, most probably, there was nothing that could be done...

However, I know that there is a possibility that it COULD have been my hormone/chemical levels.

Is there anything that the doctors can do, at this stage (or, fingers crossed, next time I get pregnant) to keep an eye on me or to improve my chances? For example, if the miscarriage was because of my hormone/chemical levels rather than a problem with the baby?

If there is ANYTHING that we could do medically to try to encourage a healthy pregnancy next time, then we would do it. From what I have seen, doctors don't really take much of an interest in you until you have had 3 MCs...

heya (me again!)

I asked the doctor monday what they could do, and while she was lovely about it, I got told a Big Fat Nothing. She said that most women go on to have full term babies after 1-2 MC's so wouldnt wasnt NHS money in investigating until 3+ :(

I have read about a) baby asprin to thin the blood so it doesnt clot in the placenta, b) Pogresterone supposetories to help the baby stick, and c) HCG injections, as inital helpers, but dout you'd get any unless you were 3+
I know there are all sorts of tests they can do when they are testing, but not all of them have treatments, which is what worries me :-S

I had no idea all this baby making was so difficult and complicated when I started, its an absoloute minefield!

Hi,
I have had 2 m/cs in a row, and my GP said if this pregnancy didn't work they would 'investigate'.
As we already have a healthy dd, I really do not know why I've been miscarrying. Maybe we just got lucky with my dd?

I know they take bloods to check for 'sticky blood', for which aspirin is supposed to work (don't take if you do not have this as it is dangerous).
If you have hormone problems they can put you on progesterone.

If however it is a genetic problem, then I think this requires more in depth solutions, such as taking your eggs and his sperm out and screening them before putting them back in you if they are genetically ok, (or something like that!).

I am hoping I never have to find out.
Unfortunately I think the policy in most parts of the UK is 3+ miscarriages though :(

hello...

firstly, i am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know too well that this is not an easy time for you...:hugs:

and i wish that there was something that they could do.....in the UK they don't normally investigate until after 3 mcs....obviously that can be heartbreaking.....i managed to get seen after 2, but that's only because i have other medical things going on. So far, it is only blood tests to rule thinigs out (genetic comparisons between dh and me/thyroid/clotting etc).

i hope that you don't have to wait too long for your bfp...and i sincerely hope that you don't have to go through this again...

take care.....

cyber hugs...:hugs:
