lots of :hugs: to you

hope all the little ones get well soon! and their mums can get some sleep too! :hugs:

sleepy dust to everyone :dust:
(we are having a quiet night so far)

Claire, really glad your mum is stable, still praying for a speedy recovery for her.

It's 3.25 am and LO has been up since 1am and is refusing point blank to go back to sleep. My back is so sore from trying to rock him that I've actually brought him downstairs in a total strop so that he can play properly and hopefully be ready to go back to bed before daylight arrives. I've had ten minutes sleep so far tonight and that looks like all I'm going to get.

I am so far beyond the point tiredness every day now that I really don't know how much more of these shitty nights I can take.

Glad your mum is stable Claire, hopefully she wil be back home wth you before you know it. Thinking of you x

We are awake here too firefly, so far it's only been half hour so some way to go before she is likely to drop back off. Just in time for then oh to get up for work and then we all have to be out the door by 745 to take my elder daughter to school.

Surely it can not be normal to be awake for so long every night? I must be doing something wrong somewhere but just wish I knew what!!!

firefly,jellysecret :hugs:

well mine slept most of the nigh but was up at 5:30am
i'm tired and depressed

I am glad your mum is stable Claire. I hope she gets better and better really soon!

Sorry your nights went so badly ladies! I sometimes wonder too why there doesn't seem to be any answer or real help to get these babies to sleep. Most ppl out there to whom I tell our problems always think that there must be something and find it hard to believe that there isn't. Hah, I find it hard to believe too!

It was my OH's night last night and he said it went well and that Dom didn't wake between feeds. He had him back in his woombie and now I wonder if maybe that is why. Maybe he isn't ready for the sleepingbags. But then, will he ever be?

Yeah I think you are right angel, I'd prob feel a lot better if I just accepted it rather than keep trying to figure it all out! I'll just have to hope and pray she will grow out of it!

I have to admit, when I heard people saying their babies won't sleep I thought it must be something they are doing as I never had a problem ever with my eldest. I've certainly been proved wrong now haha that'll teach me!

So glad your mum is stable claire, here s to more good news.

Ow ladies, massive hugs to everyone. My lo has the flu too and last night she was up all night trying to bf but not being able to as her nose is all stuffy... Ow why i ask WHY did she use to sleep so well but not anymore?? Are you all ladies bfibg? I m wondering if formula will do the trick when time comes.
Angel-if the woombie gives you at least some rest why dont you reintroduce it and then kind of slowly wean him off it (sort of half open thing maybe?)
Kosh, firefly and all other lovely sleepless mums, we re off to bed for another "lOvely" night, i m wishing you all the best!

Pleased to hear your Mum is stable Claire, hope she gets to.come home really soon.

Bad night here, up every hour from 7-1 then slept 1.30-4. I left him in his cot at 4 as he wasn't crying and he went back to sleep at 5, I of course didn't. I slept 2-4 and that's all last night. Hoped for a nap this afternoon but he only slept for 30 mins. Grrrr. All because of the cold. I know I can't complain so I am sorry as I have pretty much got his sleep sorted because I did CC. I have just spent so long obsessing over his sleep that even a bad nap or bad nap sends my stress levels through the roof. I don't know why I can't just relax a bit more about it all and take each day as it comes.

I know angel isn't but I think most of the rest are BFing

Sorry for the bad nights and poorly babies!
Just popped by to update on my Mum.
She is still stable, still on the ventilator and is still sedated so is not concious.
The important bit is that she has not deteriorated. I just pray that she can come back from this and we can put our lives back together.
My little Lucy has been pretty good with naps and nightime sleep. Not great, but certainly not awful. I don't think I could cope right now.
All rules and routine are a bit out the window at the moment and it doesn't seem to be having too much of a negative effect.
I do feel a bit guilty that I am not going to be able to do many baby things (play groups etc) in the coming weeks with the whole Mum/hospital thing. I hope it won't matter for a little while?!

Thanks again for your kind thoughts.
:hugs:

Hey hun, been thinking about you and your mum a lot and hoping and praying that she begins to improve over the incoming days and weeks. Don't feel guilty about Lucy, she is fine and missing a few playgroups for a couple of weeks certainly won't impact her in any way. Much love, hugs and prayers xxxx

We may have found a miracle cure! When LO was younger I had to cut dairy out of my diet as it brought her out in a rash. After a while I reintroduced it and she seemed fine. It didn't seem like the dairy intolerance was related to her poor sleep though as she slept badly even when I restricted my diet. However, LO has had problems with constipation for a few weeks now. We've tried everything and nothing helped. I started wondering if maybe dairy was the problem again. So I've been going dairy free for almost a week and LO isn't so badly constipated. And, she has even slept pretty well the past 3 or 4 nights. We still have 3 or 4 wake ups but nothing like we've had in the past. Maybe it's a coincidence but I'm going to stick to my dairy free diet for now and hope it continues to work :happydance:

Claire - glad to hear your mum is stable. I hope she's on the mend. Lots of hugs to you - remember to look after yourself too x x :hugs:

Hi girls my 3 kids were really bad sleepers. my first 2 never slept through the night til way over the year mark and my youngest only started sleeping through after his 2nd birthday! I just thought i'd pop in and say that there is light at the end of the tunnel coz both owen and erin used to wake 20+ times a night and now they sleep through, most nights anyway!

Ah well that's good to hear then! Hopefully this wont last forever and I will eventually have a full nights sleep!

Yes still breastfeeding here although I'm starting to introduce formula. She feeds 4x a day and so far have changed just 1 feed, from tomorrow I may change 1 more so will see if it makes any difference once I've given up completly.

Mrs hedgehog, I've read online how dairy can sometimes disrupt sleep but I'm just incapable of trying to cut it out, I love drinking milk way too much. Good on you, hope the sleep continues!

OMG bad naps send my stress levels through the roof as well!!!
My girls take half hour - 45 minute naps pretty regularly and are ALWAYS whiney and sleepy right after them... so I am sure they are waking prematurely. WHY?!?!?

Wish i knew! My Lo was/is like that, and I know now its just because he'd wake after every sleep cycle. You'd think they would grow out of it quickly, wouldn't you?! I mean, Obey they are peed off they can't sleep as well

I see I am not the only one up early. Sigh. I don't know what is wrong with me! I went to bed at 11ish and slept till 1:30 when Dom wanted feeding and I have been up since then! He was soo good too and only woke at 4 for another feed and ok then again at 5 and at 6 he had a leak but I just couldn't sleep! And now I am SOOOO tired!

I guess I spoke too soon! We had a not so good night. Not the worst we've ever had but the worst since I quit dairy. She went to bed at 9.30pm then I had to resettle her 15mins later and then she woke at 10pm and wouldn't go back to sleep until 11.30pm. Then she woke every hour and a half all night. I struggle to get back to sleep and I'd just be getting comfortable and dozing off when she'd wake again. Still, it's nowhere near as bad as some of the nights we've had in the past and I think there was probably a longer stretch somewhere in there of around 2-3hours. I wasn't so strict with the dairy free at the weekend so maybe that was the problem, she was pretty gassy during the night the wee farty pants!

maybebaby - thanks for posting, it's reassuring to hear that your LOs eventually slept through. Did you do anything in particular to help them? Did you co-sleep? If so, how did you transition them into their own bed?

Angel - I really struggle to sleep too even if LO has a good night. I drink a cup of camomile tea before bed which sometimes helps a bit. Also, if I've had plenty of fresh air I sleep a little better. It really sucks not being able to sleep when you are so so tired. I'm working today and don't know how I'll cope - LO knows how to pick the nights to have a bad night!

Maybebaby-thanks for the encouraging words hun, it s always good to know this hell will pass someday. My son is 28months old and he started sleeping through at 23 months..then his sis was born and we re back to waking at least once each night.booooo!

Had a terrible night, nat couldnt sleep at all because of her stuffy nose and she s all moody and whiney today...grrrmfff i hate this.

Aaaarrggghhhh, just typed out a massive long post and the stupid thing didn't post!

Will attempt to write it again later but in the meantime sleepy dust to everyone for tonight x
