is/was your LO a really bad sleeper? support and advise thread!

Well, to sum up my night last night in one word it would be Horrendous!!!! I think I had a similar night to Mrs Hedgehog's the other night  needless to say I have felt like utter cr@p all day long.going to have a bath and then put LO to bed..........the question is how long will she stay down???!!!
On a different note, my Mum seems to be doing well and responding to the drugs so hopefully she may even be home in a few days - of course nt until we are satisfied there is no infection this time!!!
I hope everyone elses nights are good tonight.
:flower:

Good news about your mum Claire! Sucks about the crappy night though. I hope tonight is better.

Our night wasn't great last night but by no means the worst. I'm positive it's the teeth atm. I can now see FOUR about to break through. I don't know why he can't just do one at a time like a reasonable person ;-)

same here! mine had 3 coming through at the same time!

sorry about last night claire, but glad your mum is better!:flower:

our was bad too and I too blame teething...

Well thank god for a better night! don't think I could have coped with another bad one right now:wacko:
We only had 2 wake ups!!!!!!:happydance: one at 1am and the 2nd at 4am,and up for the day at 6.30am - so all in all a good night.
Hope your nights were all ok ladies?
:flower:

oh that's brilliant claire!:happydance:
ours went ok until about 3am with only a couple of wakings and then at about 3.30 started stirring and woke up at 4am fro 2hrs
i'm exhausted

how on earth willi cope when I go back to work? :nope:

We finally had a couple of good nights, just 4 or 5 wake ups. LO had a bit of a temp for a few days which I put down to teething but now I've got a cold so maybe she's been fighting that too. She seems fine now and slept well last night so hopefully it's passed.

How were your nights ladies?
Ours are so much improved on the whole that sometimes I think I shouldn't post here anymore. But maybe 3 to 4 hour stretches are only good in our exhausted eyes and other mums would complain? ;)
Last night wasn't so good. Fed at midnight and then at 4 with no wakings in between yay. But then at 5:30 Sebastian woke cause he had a leak poor thing. So I had to change him completely. He went back to sleep ok but wanted his dummy about 30 mins later and again 30 mins later. At 6:30 Dom woke and decided to be up for the day. I gave him his dummy and sat in the kitchen so that his chattering and shouting wouldn't wake OH over the monitor. So since 5:30 I haven't gotten anymore sleep. But then again one 4 hour stretch a month or so ago and I would have been weeping with gratitude so I am not complaining too loudly. :)
Hope your nights were ok.
Claire hope your mum is improving in leaps and bounds and will be home soon. :hugs:

Last night was not great but not bad. she woke approx every 2hours and was up for the day at 6am. I'm hoping tonight will be better:winkwink:
I'm so confused with her daytime sleep though? how can I get her to sleep enough but not too late so that it interfers with bedtime???
Will the sleep issues ever end? lol.

Look slike my Mum may be home on Tues!!

sleepy dust to all.

Bit his and miss to be honest. We had first tooth 3 weeks ago, second tooth 2 weeks ago, trip to wales one week ago and now we both have a stinking cold ......so all been a bit crazy and up in the air

We had one night where he slept 7pm-9.30am (just woke once for ten mins at 7am for a bottle!).
But we've had a fair few nights where he woke every half hour :wacko:

Tonight, so far so good! We were up through the night with our colds, and waking each other up, and didn't end up waking for the day until 11
He's still been tired all day so I still put him to bed at 7. I laid him down and turned to get his bottle and he'd fallen asleep in the 3 seconds that took.
And for the first time in 2 weeks...he hasn't woken yet :happydance:

Fingers crossed that once your mums home and better you can get back in a routine and your LO's sleep will improve? :flower:
Ill keep everything crossed for you! :hugs:

evening everybody!
thread has been a bit quiet recently, are all your LO's STTN now? :winkwink:
mine is ill with a bad cold :nope:

Morning all!

The last 3 nights have been mixed for us. Thursday was good with only 3 wake ups at 10.30, 1 and 5 and up for the day at 7.15 :happydance: I then made the mistake of thinking yay, maybe we'll be on a better run for a few nights. What the hell was I thinking?! Friday night was rubbish with loads of wake ups all night. Surprisingly last night was good again with only 3 wake ups, although OH went to a beer festival so woke me up when he came home, then again with loads of snoring and again with getting up to pee :growlmad::dohh: so typical that when LO is having a decent night I don't get to take advantage of it.

Yet again I'm trying to work out what was diferent between those 3 nights and guess what...no idea!! Last night LO took really big feeds when he woke up, the night before rubbish feeds, and the night before that fed well so he definitely sleeps longer/better on nights when he feeds well on waking (not a surprise), but I just don't understand why at nearly a year old he still needs 3 feeds overnight? I've tried everything I can to get him to take more durning the day but nothing seems to make a difference.

Glad to hear that some of you are having better nights, and really pleased to hear that your mum might be home soon Claire. Hopefully after that things can get back to normal for you :hugs:

Haven't had chance to read through all the updates properly yet so off to do that now. Hope you're all having lovely weekends :flower:

Morning!

Our nights have been amazing. 2 wake ups on Thurs night, then only one wake up at 1am on Fri night and last night for a sip of water. Plus he's slept in his cot the whole night! This morning I had to wake him up at 8am (I had to wake HIM - mental).

I really think it's due to the nap capping as if we get off schedule with it the nights seem to get worse again. I'm going to carry on (obviously!) and hope that it's working rather than just the calm before the storm.

Firefly - what happens if you try not to feed at night? Is there any other way he'll go back to sleep or is it feed or nothing? TBH my LO was still taking feeds at night until only around a month ago i think (if that). We tried him with water one night and he took a bit and went back to sleep so we figured he probably wasn't really hungry. Everyone had been telling me that he shouldn't need a feed at night by 9+ months but I truly believe he DID until he signalled he was ready to drop it by pushing me away and not taking a proper feed. Like most of motherhood so far, it seems I had absolutely no influence over it and LO decided himself :haha:

Kosh - sorry your LO is ill :hugs: I'm assuming the nights are still bad if he's ill? How's the dairy-free going? How long are you planning on doing it for?

Gemma - hope your night was good.

Claire - best wishes for your mum and I hope you get a bit more sleep soon. What are her naps like?

Angela and Mrs H - glad your nights have improved.

Lisa - every night is a bit different but 90% of the time it's feed or nothing. Last night he had 3 feeds and each was a big one. When I changed his bum this morning he had the biggest nappy I've ever seen so obviously ate loads. Seriously, it was so big that pampers would have been chuffed to bits that it held out! The night before last he refused to settle without feeding when he woke but then ate very little at each feed  I think one of the problems is that when I go to him he wants boob, the times he settles without are nearly always when OH goes in to him. I think he definitely needs at least one feed at night as his eating is so crap during the day, but the nights he wakes up 6 times? Nope, doesn't need 6 feeds. I'm probably not helping myself but I've got to a point where I'm so tired that I just can't face him screaming and refusing to go back to sleep if I refuse so I give in and give him what he wants.

The good news is that after a chat with OH he's taking a week off work so that we can attempt to get him to settle without boob (hah!) in the night. I'll feed him any time up til 11pm and then the aim, eventually, is to have him hopefully not need/want to eat until 6am. It might be a total failure but we've got to try as I'm cracking up with exhaustion.

I still can't quite believe that he's going to be a year old in 15 days and his sleep is worse than it was when he was a newborn. No one ever told me that could happen!! That little boy is the love of my life and I would do anything for him, but I really, really need him to sleep for me!

Her naps are pretty random atm, this is def a problem. As I am having to go to see my mum in hopsital and go to her house to sort out her dogs etc I am in the car alot and lo's naps are so hit and miss and quite often she will sleep in the car when I may not want her to!!!
Today she slept 30mins in the morning and then I tried a longer awake time until her afternoon nap and she then slept for 1hr 10 mins:happydance: so we shall she if that has any impact on her night time sleep??
I hope to get some sort of routine back soon.......hope!

:flower:

We had an amazing night last night. We had a 6 hour stretch then a 3 hour stretch then another 2.5 hours. Boy did I need that sleep. I'm full of the cold and had a week of no sleep. I totally zonked out when putting LO to bed and that was us for 6 hours. Neither of us even moved an inch we were so soundly asleep. <haven't slept like that since before she was born.
