Itty Bitty Babies Club (Slow Gainers)

Hi my little girl is a slow gainer. I hate the criticism I get but genetically mom and dad our both small and her milestone progress has been advanced. I wish people would stop assuming that i dont feed her enough.

:hi:

I know what you mean hun....it can really get to me some days!

im feeling exactly the same hun! Yesterday a random woman told me he looked about 3 months, and it was his first birthday, i just ignored her! Lol x

Back from his 18 month appointment at 18.75 months old :haha:
He's a whopping 19lb 13oz and 31.5 inches.
I thought for sure we'd break the 20lb mark with the extra 2 weeks, but not quite.
He has gone up from the .3rd to the .5th percentile though and is doing fantastic other than being a skinny lad. Everyone is happy!

hi all, its been a while since ive had a look on here. Well done harrison!

Emilia is still a tiny tot, last check she was on 2nd percentile and about 15lb - at 11 months. She is very on and off with food, it seems the slightest thing will put her off She has a cold at the moment and its really off her food, we can just about manage to get really purred stuff down her - or some finger foos, ie cheese, banana etc.

I feel like she has had some kind of bug/teething for the past 2 months - with only an odd few days in between where she has been ok. To top it all off shes started nursery and isnt settling well (I think mainly because shes poorly).

Anyway we have a paed appointment next week (growth specialist) so I wonder what hes going to say

Personally I think the weight sounds good. You have achieved the triple birth weight by one year.
Anna is a super picky eater but she loves nursing. She also love crackers and rice puffs. She eats those anytime of the day.

i agree Emilia is doing great! James is 1yr and 1wk and is 15lb 5oz!! x

Well James has been weighed today and had gained almost a lb in 2 weeks which is fantastic for him...i was thrilled! ...he then went for his barium meal and id told them to put it in the fridge and then rung this morning to remind them :hehe: anyway he drank it no problem but then screamed the place down...even the people in the waiting room down the corridor commented...but so pleased he drank it as he would have had to have a tube down and as he hasnt been sick for 2 weeks i didnt want it to cause a setback!! Just got to wait for the result now to see if he needs the op or not...xxxxx

well been to paed, good news i guess, he isnt worried at all abouit her weight and says whatever we are doing re feeding just continue....however she is small in every way, ie she is v short (just 66cm) and has teeny tiny hands and feet (newborn sized). It is odd because both me and her dad are 5'8'' - so once again we have to go back in 6 months, maybe for tests - even talked about giving her a growth hormone if she hasnt caught up before shes 2 - ahhhhh

he also noticed extra skin over the bridge of her nose (hardly noticable) and mentioned this could be a sign of other health issues but not to worry too much yet because she is fine and developing well/normally (almost walking but not quite)

so we are trying not to think about it and are just carrying on as normal but i cant help drifting off into space thinking "what if she has some horrid disorder thats going to make her freakishly small all her life:-((

ps hope you get good results Jayne xx

im sure she will be fine hun but they are such a worry! Fancy mentioning the extra skin then saying but dont worry its human nature to worry! X

we got the results read out by the dietician cos the consultant hasnt looked yet! The report says he is defo refluxing (no shit sherlock!) but on the up side everything looks normal no lesions or obstructions! His sickness has drastically reduced this past 3 weeks and on the second week he was weighed and has gained almost a lb in 2 weeks x x

Harrison was 70cm tall at 1year.
Im sure everything is fine with her. Harrisons reflux improved loads at around a year, hes only sick when hes drank too much water or had too much dairy now. X

good news Jayne!

and thanks bathbabe - Em is also sick when she has too much dairy (annoying as she loves it!!) we are on lactose free milk, wondering what will happen when we switch to cows milk in a couple of weeks!

I forgot about this group! Got my mum to get Lucas weighed yesterday as not been done since 13 months and now 18. He was 19lb 15oz at 13 months and guess what he now weighs at 18? Yep 19lb 15oz! Not put on a single oz! Health visitors want me to go back in a month although not sure why? Could not get him to eat more if i tried and unless strapped down does not stop moving so not sure that their 'advice' will be of much use

Awww lil sweetie as long as he is ok in himself i wouldnt worry and as ou say he eats well and is active so what more can they do?!

James has had an operation this week to have a freka PEG fitted, this is to feed him continously via a pump through the night. He is also now on paediasure fibre and his poo's have been very stange....no smell and very slimey so im going to call the dietician on monday! x

I hope everything works out ok for James lilbumpblue, and i just have to say i love your avatar pic! X

thanks bathbabe he has changed loads since this pic! I loved your previous one of Harrison he was so teeny! Your one now is lovely too, he has grown so much! X

Hey hun, my 2 yeard old is on pediasure and her poos are strange too, very very slimy but they stink to high heaven lol. Hope the PEG helps him gain hun, hows he doing otherwise?

Hoping for a little advice here, posted about my now 8m before, still not much change there, gaining ok but developmentally behind so it appears thats whats behind her ftt, MRI on the 22nd of this month:thumbup: Ok the advice is for anja my 2 year 3m old. She has recently been losing weight and is now at under 20lb and 29in tall, she has chronic diarrhoea and is having tests under her GI doc, she takes pediasure and is on ranitidine as her sample was acidic. She has no coeliac or allergies and developmentally is doing awesome! Any ideas as to what could be doing this?:flower:
