hmmmm, not sure about this.....?!

xx

Wow....about time someone gave those IVF clinics a run for their money.

If its a high street pharmacy then they will have to adhere to regulations, so no concerns re quality of meds.

I work as a nurse and the price change between malaria tablets is astounding and supermarket pharmacies always have a price war on for exactly the same drugs as the expensive pharmacies trying to make a nice bit of money...so i say hurrah!!

Thanks Mrs G ....great link........

Yeah, I suppose supermarket own asprin, cold and flu etc have exactly the same ingredients so why not IVF drugs??!!

xx

Hopefully should bring down the cost for everyone. I just posted on this in GC, and it's apparently an emotive topic but personally I think anything which helps more girls get a chance of making their dreams come true is a good thing :)

Thanks for the link!

I just found out about this this evening from yesterday's Metro. It's great news really. Competition is definitely a good thing. One thing that struck me though, was a line that said, "...compared to £1600 in Tesco".

...I didn't even realise Tescos did it too??

I'm a bit confused at the savings they are quoting. We got our drugs through the clinic from pharmasure and even with buying the highest dose of stims we paid less than £900. Hope they can really save people money though x

Some ASDA (maybe all of them?) already offer the service and have done so for some time. They are not always the cheapest depending on the drugs required so still worth shopping around, but they do a really good offer fo many.

TBH I say hats off to them!!! The drugs are going to be exactly the same as the ones you'd buy from boots or the docs pharmacy!! Asda will buy them from the same drug companies as everywhere else theyre just not making any profit!

This could mean that some couple may be able to pay for their own treatment now.. if they couldnt afford it before. I dont see why anyone would be unsure about it.

I'm glad that there are other avenues to go down in an effort to reduce the cost of treatment, however on the two cycles where I paid for the drugs, I would have paid less than £1200 for drugs for both cycles, so for me it wouldn't actually be a saving.

That's interesting, I'm wondering how much it would save me but don't know what drugs I need to be on yet so will have to wait and see! x
