Has any one done or going to do Ivf in mexico? We are considering going to cancun because it's about half the price of doing it here plus we get a vacation out out it lol. My r.e. really wants me to do my research first though so I was just wondering if any one has any input on cancun IVF. TIA!

No, but I just found Medvacations.com you should check it out, room and flight are all included.. we are thinking about it too

Thanks so much bubble, i'll check it out. I'm kind of nervous about the idea of doing ivf in mexico mainly because my husband won't be able to be there the whole time so I wiil spend the first week and a half there by myself. The clinic I have looked into so far said I would have to stay in cancun for 3 weeks.

Bubbles, I called medvacation and they are trying to tell my best bet is to go to panama and they want me to go 3 separate times. Is this what they told you?

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!!! I wish they had price on their web page.

goldstns, I emailed two of the ones in cancun and 1 gave me a quote of $6,400 including meds. The other was 7,300 and includes hotel costs and meds. Much cheaper than doing it in the states plus you get a nice vacation out of it.

Dawn, does it include flights or just hotel? Also do you know what their success rate is? Also (sorry lots of questions) are the American doctors? Last question, do they follow American standards or Mexican?

I live in Monterrey, Mexico. My RE works in a clinic that does IVF and I know of one in Matamoros that does IVF for around 3700USD including meds. I am not sure what the clinic here charges for IVF. I did read that the success rates are higher here in Monterrey than in the average IVF clinic in the States. I don't remember where I heard that though.

There is one in Cancun that includes hotel and guarantees IVF with a free FET of any frosties left over.

Here si the link to the clinic here in Mexico:

Thank you for the info galvin baby. Do you know if it's safe in Matamoros as far as crime?
Goldstns, they don't include flight and I have been told that the success rate is higher there than here in the states. I'm still trying to get info as far as the doctors and standards. I'm having a hard time finding much info on people who have done ivf in mexico. My hubby and I are planning a trip to cancun anyway so we figured we might as well try and get a baby while we are there lol.

I know someone who did IVF in Matamoros and has twins now. Matamoros is very calm now. I was just there last week for 3 days. We are even planning on moving there in about 2 months.

As for info online about drs and standards, I doubt you will find it. Mexico has not came in to the technology century yet. LOL My Dr has everything written down in a file and does not even have a computer in her private office. The Clinic does have technology, but most drs don't use computers often in private practices. My personal experience with Drs here in mexico has been great, better than the States even. I had a tubal reversal surgery done last year. The surgery was done in a very small hospital that had old furnishings, but the staff was extremely professional and really good at what they did. The nurse who put my IV in was awesome. She got it in the first try which was a first for me. Nurses in the States usually took about 3 tries. The anesthesiologist was awesome as well. He gave me a slight sedative in my IV before he put the Epidural in. He was talking to me and I felt pushing, but no pain. He then said alright it is done. I never felt the pain I felt in the States. He also sat right beside me the whole surgery and talked to me if I was awake. My surgery lasted 3 hours so it was great having him there with me. If I started feeling more than pressure, i told him and he added more meds to the epidural. Post op was great also, the nurses and drs kept coming by to check on me. I saw my anesthesiologist 6 times after surgery, but before I went home 2 days later. he would just come by to check on me.

When I go to see my RE, the wait is long, but the attention is great! She takes about 30-45 minutes in her office to just talk to you and find out how you are or if you have any questions. She then does the exam and u/s if needed. Afterwards, you go back in her office for 20-30 minutes to explain anything she saw. An appointment usually lasts 60-90 minutes, but it is so worth it.

I also have her cell number which I usually just text her and she calls me back immediately or responds to my text immediately.

All other drs I have come in contact with like my kids pediatrician has the same quality of service. The hospital I had my HSG in was awesome as well.

The only care I don't like is the public healthcare system here, they are horrible. You won't have to worry about them though. Only Mexican citizens go there and only if they don't have private insurance.

I have not called them... I found another clinic in Utah that I am probably going to use if I need to do IVF. They do a mini IVF for 4600... I don't want a bunch of eggs left over. They also have one of the top embryologists as well. East bay Fertility center. Looks pretty good :)

I have a friend who lives in Acapulco, she says that Acapulco is very safe. The dangerous areas were Northern Mexico, but now it is not as dangerous as it was.
