January Garnets!

Hey guys! Nice to see a thread for us going :)

My name is Rachel, I am 28 and my hubby is 36, we've been together 7 years and married 5 of those. For the first 2 years we didn't try but didn't prevent and for the last 5 years we've been trying, even to the point of seeing a fertility specialist and me going for surgery to try and figure out what the problem is. (no problem)

We are now pregnant though, although this year seems to be the year of the babies, it seems just about everyone who wants kids or was doing nothing to prevent it has ended up pregnant!

Anyhow, we live in the Kootenays of beautiful British Columbia, we own our own business, and we were lucky enough to purchase a building that allows us to live where we work.

We have 4 cats, Mercedes, Seth, Clint Eastwood and Gambit. We had plans to get a dog but it's put off for a while now since we need to do renovations for our Peanut.

I had an ultrasound last week and it's a girl, although she wants us to come back in a few weeks just to make sure there were no danglies hiding, although I'm sure there isn't, I've had a girl feeling for a while now :)

She's due January 16th and she's been treating me well for the entire pregnancy, aside from being really tired and the occasional nausea. I have promised myself I wouldn't complain about a thing (although I may comment on it) because we've been waiting so long for her I can put up with anything she throws at me. I'm just so happy she's finally on her way :)

Hi, me and my boyfriend are 20 and have been together 3 and a half years

Hi Ladies!
I am 25 and OH is 26. I am expecting my third child and number 2 for OH. My first child was born September 25th 2002 when I was only 18. His father and I are no longer together but I met the man of my dreams nearly 5 yrs ago and we are a nice family!:D
I delivered our first child together on Feb 7th 2008 but he only could stay with us for 8 hours due to placental complications. I was 37 weeks when the placenta detached and our angel Kaleb returned home 12:20 am on Feb 8th 2008. I am now pregnant with our little girl who is due on January 16th 2010 and we are so stoked!! I will probably end up delivering mid December though to try and prevent another abruption.
We live in New Brunswick, Canada and I have 2 cats and 1 dog!

 There are loads of us teachers! I plan to start maternity leave at the end of the autumn term but I'm still not sure whether it will have to start on the first day of the xmas holidays or if I can start it on the first day of the spring term. I have a low lying placenta so I'm just hoping that moves itself or I could have to start maternity leave a lot earlier than I'd like to!!

Hi everyone
My name's Emma, I'm 28 my OH is 33 and this is our first.
Our little bump is due on 13th January and my next scan is on 1st Sept where we can hopefully find out the sex. x x

Lots of info here but doesn't state categorically if we can put finishing day as first day back. I have a feeling it needs to be a friday and has to be a term day but not sure.
Can definately put first day of 6 weeks holls as return to work day tho :)

If you do find out let me know as I'm considering the same thing. Term starts on Monday 4th Jan though and that's only 2 weeks and a couple days from my due date... I think there may be rules stating how close to your due date you can state?

Hello ladies!

I'm Danielle, 21, married to Mark, 24. We've been together 7 years and married for 4 years. We have 3 kiddies already - Callum who is 4 on Thursday, Katelyn who is 2.5 and Lily who is 18 months old this week. We live on the Wirral, by Liverpool.

We also have 2 dogs - A 12 month old fox red lab called Moss and an almost 4 month old black lab called Roxy... Bit of a mad house here!

This baby is due on the 7th of January 2010 and we found out on Monday we're on team PINK! So excited!

I really need to keep up with this site more, it seems really nice :)

Lovely to meet you all!

Sekhmet – don’t forget to update us on your scan – hope it all went brilliantly!
Cheers, New2Bumps..... It did indeed go brilliantly. The tech was amazing, explaining absolutely everything he was doing, telling us the measurements, reassuring us throughout, etc. He remarked a couple times on how cute it was when the baby did something, or how lovely its nose and lips were, etc. He seemed nearly as excited as we were. He even gave us 4 pics instead of 2. And, baby looks 100% healthy. :)

And....................... We're on Team Pink!!!!

:pink:

:happydance:

BTW, I posted in a bit of a hurry before, as I was at work trying to get all my stuff done before leaving at lunchtime for the scan. :) I left out a few bits. Hubby and I have been together 12 years, married for 6. Started TTC in February or so, and I got knocked up in April. When it came to babies, it was ME dragging my feet, not the other way around. I was always something of a tomboy, LOL. :) But now I am quite excited.

My plan is to put 4th Jan as the first day of my mat leave. As far as I know you can start your maternity leave any time up to when you give birth (holiday or term time). The only exception to this is if you are off sick during the four weeks before the due date - this may trigger automatic mat leave.

Your LA HR dept should be able to give you all the info you need.

Thanks for the advice guys. If I can put any date term or holiday as the start I will try and put as close to my due date 01/01/10 as possible if all goes well! I'll ring my LA in the next week or so once term has started so I'll let all the fellow garnet teachers know what they say :).

Sounds good.
My HT tried to tell me that I'd have to go back in for the 2 weeks before the 6 weeks holiday to get paid through. I guess they'll try anything on!

Hmm, maybe I'll put the 11th Jan after all :D

Hi ladies. I'm 28 in Oct and OH is 30 next month. We have been together on and off for 5 years but have been married for the last 9 months. We both work as Police Officers but I'm on restricted duties due to the pregnancy. I'm originally from Walsall in the West Midlands but now living in Coventry with OH. We are expecting our first baby on the 2nd of Jan. Found out we are on team blue so can't wait for my little boy to arrive. This baby was a total surprise to us both as we weren't even trying and I was on the pill at the time. But this LO had different ideas!
