June...here we come!!!

Hi to all my forum buddies and new joiners. I've been TTC officially for 1 year now, since my wedding on June 15th 2013. Went of BCP, got follicular cysts, then had no AF for 10 weeks and some stupid OBGYN told me to go on BCP again for 3 months to treat the cysts. The fact that I was almost 35 (at the time) and that I was TTC was irrelevant. "If you've waited this long, what's another few months?" Needless to say, she's not my Dr anymore and I now have a new OBGYN that I adore. Stopped BCP again in Dec 13 and have been trying actively ever since. Irregular cycles, the threat of more cycts and possible annovulatory cycles are some of the obstacles I've been facing. I started using OPK's in February. So I visited my OB last month, took Provera to induce AF and I'm starting Clomid next cycle for the next 4 cycles. If that doesn't work, he told me to go see him and he would refer me to a specialist. He also ordered bloodwork for me and a SA for DH. Now I'm waiting for the bloodwork results to come back and for hubby to get inspired and do the SA, hopefully next week.
The BFP's of our previous thread really motivated me so I'm very positive. And glad to be back on track with my gals
And since it's been a while, here you go
:dust:

By the way, I watched "the great sperm race" a few weeks ago. It's available on youtube for free in several 10 minute segments. I was surprised to see that only less than a handful of sperms actually reach the egg. Of the 250 million sperm released from one ejaculation, only a few thousands reach the cervix. The most memorable part of the video was when one of the fertility specialists conducted an experiment on herself when she was having her tubes tied and asked the doctor to cut open her fallopian tube to see how many sperm were in there after bd'ing the night before. There were only 5 or 6 that made it to the tube!

I was always under the impression that there could be thousands of sperm reaching the egg and trying to penetrate the egg (I think I had the image from the start of the movie "look who's talking" stuck in my head ever since I was a teenager!)

So I am cleaning out my garage today...sporadically. I am not a very organized & focused cleaner. I just around a lot. Well there was a time I bought a lot of toys (I was working in the toy dept at Walmart). So they were all boxed up a while ago. Well this is the first time I have thought about them since TTC. Some of the toys are from when I was little. So now I can officially clean them out with a purpose. I will keep my old stuff along with any of the others I want to keep for the baby. I think I will actually be able to get rid of a lot now that I have a purpose. I actually still have my teddy from when I broke my arm when I was 2.

That is an awesome video! Very informative. I too always had the look who's talking image in my head. That is why I have low hopes this cycle with low count...but I am still hoping IUI will work. The dr always get shocked when they realize no bc for 11 years. But when you watch that video & know my husband's count...it is not surprising.

Side note for the new folks...I stopped bcp in 2003 after I got married. We tried 4 years then quit. We spent 6 years happily married without children. The 2 years ago I changed my mind...had to convince my husband. So we are almost to the year mark of coming back to trying & actually doing tests & getting help.

Hello hunny, I am pretty much in the same boat at you.....taking femera 7.5mg but have chosen not to use opks. BD pattern is similar, though hubby and I have BD'd consecutively for the past 4 days. I am currently CD16

Moni77, I responded on the old page! Oops!

Trying for about a year and a half. Husband has vasectomy reversal last January...count was good, then got worse and worse. He has been on clomid to increase testosterone levels and his count is almost normal!!! We were on track for ivf but now RE thinks we have a chance with iui...if these stupid cysts would go away long enough. 23 day cycles and 4 stepchildren...I'm ready to have my own babies!!! Just finished a cycle on birth control pills and a trigger shot to shrink the cysts...waiting for my period (any second now) and hopefully get to do iui this cycle is my scan looks good this Thursday!

Forgot to tell you earlier Savvy, my RE is the same way. I had my two betas to confirm that my number was rising properly and then it was see you in three weeks at the ultrasound!

Wow, the new thread is moving SO fast today!!! I'm happy to see all the new girls who are joining us. :)

So, my situation: Been trying for 18 months like Sarahok. I've been prego once (on Clomid), but had a very early m/c (chemical). Started seeing an RE in April, and switched to Femara and Ovidrel shot and had IUI#1. That didn't work, so I just had IUI#2 last Friday with the same drugs. Had two large follies, so likely two eggs. I'm hopeful about this IUI, as everything just went really well, and my DH had a great sperm count with 88% motility; however, if this IUI doesn't work, DH and I decided we want to move on to IVF. I am now on the fast-track, as this whole thing has exhausted me (and my body), so DH and I already went to an IVF seminar, and had our IVF consult with the RE. I've already received all meds and supplies and will start a Lupron lead-in next week. BUT... I do feel REALLY hopeful for this IUI. Just a feeling. :winkwink:

Hi everyone! Just jumping over to this thread!

Savvy, don't worry, I clearly can't leave all these girls either! Haha!

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I was a little shocked, maybe since it is still early and my number was still low (135). I noticed a lot of girls mentioning their betas numbers were in the 1,000+, that is what concerned me. I took another wondfo today and the line is getting darker.

Sending baby dust and hoping to see lots of bfps this month! :)

So kind of strange question...do you guys know if FMU "keeps" at all? Basically I caved and ordered some Wondfos from Amazon and they are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, but not sure what time. If I capture and save FMU will the HSG level still be the same later in the day or should I just wait until the next day?

Ahhh...love all the topics we feel freedom to discuss in this thread lol!

Sarah, You'd probably be ok w/ SMU if you hold for a few hrs. But since you're so early, I can understand wanting to use fmu. This is gonna sound gross, but do you have any mini Tupperware cups w/ lids? Maybe if you do that...? Not real sure, but I don't see why not, lol!

Maybe putting it in the refrigerator will keep it "fresh" for longer? I don't know. I would probably wait till the next day though if it was me. But again I hate BFN's more than the urge to test.

Sarah, I don't know much about saving fmu but I got my faint bfp after about a 3.5 hour hold around 6pm. Good luck, my fx'd for you!

Savvy, I'm SOO happy you're sticking around like Allison did! It just wouldn't be the same without you girls!! :friends:

Jen, I meant to reply to you about your cyst question in the other thread. When I was with my OB, I was on clomid, but I wasn't being monitored at the time (I wasn't doing IUIs), so I'm not sure if I got any in the first few mths or not. I got prego on clomid, so it holds a special place in my heart, hehe. But after I healed from my CP and got back on it again, I did get a giant one that grew to the size of a softball. I started with my RE the very next month, and she said it may or may not have been the clomid, but she did switch me to Femara and said it does have less risks for cysts. That's not necessarily why she switched me though... That seems to just be her preference in general. I think clomid is a great med. It gets tons of women prego all the time, and it got me prego once. I think that BCP has a really good chance of having shrinked yours. So GL with the IUI!

Thanks for the input ladies. I am not sure what I'll do...probably just wait until the next day or give it a good few hours' hold.

I'm right there with you Floridasian. I feel like it's just such an emotional toll to get a BFN, which is why I usually just wait for AF to arrive. I've probably only tested about 4 times during the 18 months we've been trying.

But I'm thinking I would really like to know if I'm having fertilized eggs that aren't implanting correctly due to low P or short LP. I think I just thought if I was having something like that I'd rather not know, but as much as it would break my heart to deal with that, the more information for the RE the better. Also I talked my ob into calling in P supplements as soon as I get a BFP. So the slightest positive, and I'm going to report it as a sure thing.

Sarah, I think that's a great idea about the P. And your chart looks awesome! My temp has been the same for three days, like yours was at first. FF gave me CHs because it was enough of a rise to indicate O, so I'm fine w/ that. We'll see what it does in a couple days.

I'm having my P checked again in a couple days too. I'm not sure if she always does it for every IUI or not, once the first cycle confirms it's good, but it has to be checked this time because it has to indicate a good O before beginning the Lupron for the IVF protocol she'll have me on if this IUI doesn't work. I don't fully understand the science behind needing to O before down-regulating, but I'll ask when I go in again. We'll see what happens.

Michelle, the top one looks positive to me! I usually confirm my positive opks with the clearblue digital just to double check. Good luck girl!!

Erin, did FF adjust your O day? I was stalking your chart yesterday and I thought you were 3dpo...I know you posted you had some ewcm on Saturday and thought you O'd then. Fx'd for you! :)
