Kate McCann releasing a book...

was always something "not right" when they did media interviews too, i wouldnt point the finger b/c IF they did nothing wrong (although leaving them alone were wrong) but if they had nothing to do with her missing, yes i feel sorry for them b/c i couldnt imagine what they going through, but it just doesnt add up at all

The thing about the smell of corpses is true, I remember it being said at the time.
That just makes me angry, if thats the case then WHY wasnt it pursued, why werent her parents investigated thoroughly? If the dogs had found the smell of corpses in some dodgy guys apartment he would be top suspect, but not her parents  In the car boot as well... its all too weird. It seems a lot has been swept under the carpet, I wonder who they've paid to do that

They are expecting to make about £1million from the sale of the book. :winkwink:

I always take our dirty nappies out for a drive, dont you? :haha:
Yeah me too, and rotting meat. I also often take my child's toy to work with me and let it come into contact with dead bodies. All the time. How do people BUY this?!?

No lol I mean I wonder who they paid to sweep it under the carpet. Cos surely any decent authority/police would look way further into the whole sniffer dog thing!

We will know the truth some day or another.. IF it was the Mcann's somebody would of seen them hiding the body, and surely after this many years they would of found it..
plus im sure corpse wouldnt come off a deadbody straight away would it? (i dont know much about that stuff)xx

If I tried to take Grace's favourite toy out with me, she would throw a hissy fit

yes - but where is the money coming from?

I have wondered about the friends and if they know something. Not if the McCanns did something awful, but I really don't think trhey checked on the children half as much as they say they did, but have decided to all agree that they checked them every 15-30 mins. One guy even said that he just listened outside the childrens bedroom window. Hardly checking on them is it?!

 Anna, it is so funny when put like that. Well not funny cos this is a little girl but it is silly.

Emzii, as some one pointed out earlier in the thread, as horrible as it is, a three year old could easily fit in a holdall  as for the other part of your question, in short after a few hours yes.

I duno, I mean, yes it was unforgivable to leave the kids by themselves. And there is definatly something 'not right' but if the mcans had something to do with it, surely they wouldn't have pushed for soo much media attention? Like thousands of kids go missing and they made madeline one of the most well known... Why push for all that when you did it? Surely they'd want to brush under the carpet as much as possible? X

Maybe they thought it was the normal thing to do at the beginning, and then it become addictive  or they thought if they stop at any point people might say it is obvious as parents wouldnt give up  or even that they purposely hindered the investigation by sharing things with the media that the police had requested them not to  I dont know, just ideas :flower:

Whats the point in that? It wouldn't be hard to walk that extra 5 seconds into their room to check on them properly.

I find it very odd that they were appointed Clarance Mitchell as a spokesperson, because his previous job was a spin doctor at Downing Street. I can't think why a couple with a possible abducted child would need the help of someone with such credentials.

When it happened, I remember reading that there was another guest in their party who was/is an unnamed senior politician. They left Portugal immediately apparently. The article was removed from the web and I just can't remember where I read it. I think it was The Times website.

I guess the way they thought, they didnt want to run the risk of waking them, and ruining their night. :dohh:

Ive avoided this thread so far because i detest how everyone lays the sympathy card on them, but reading through a lot of you realise this whole thing is suss so i feel a little bit better

Oh wow, that is odd to say the least. As a close friend (close enough to go on holiday) would you not wanna support your friends, regardless of your position? Unless you thought there was something odd. Besides as a senior politician, would they not try and spin it to gain them 'good publicity' like the kind genuine friend who has supported the McCann's through this horrible time.

There's an extract of the book on the suns website today.

Yes, I would say more people on this thread believe they were in some way involved, than those who think they werent. Funny how the media made out the sympathy for them was huge, maybe because if some (not all but some) people read that, they are more likely to follow what they think is the general consensus and give them sympathy.

I too think they're hiding something. It just doesn't add up at all.

Maybe the politician's help to the McCanns was to 'give' them Clarance Mitchell?

LBC 97.3 are discussing this now. You can listen online at www.lbc.co.uk

I listen to LBC at work. Helps me concentrate lol. They discuss more than one issue in the hour but they come back to it when their listeners call in.

I might get shot down here but anyway .....

I totally believe Maddie is alive & well cared for, I believe she was stolen too order for a desperate couple that couldn't have children and longed for a child.

I feel truly sorry for the McCanns, they have lost a child and that must be devastating, is what they did wrong ..... yes, did they deserve this ....... no, can anyone punish them more than they will ever punish themselves ....... no.

I do think more should have been done about them leaving their children alone, however, now, thats not going too solve anything.

I think it is amazing how many seemingly perfect parents there are out there, I mean, every single parent makes mistakes, I don't believe anyone that says they don't ..... sadly the McCann's mistake resulted in something awful happening.

When we went away when I was a child, my parents always used too leave us asleep, (they used a listening service), I am pretty certain that back then, crimes like these still happened, it is just it is more documented now a days

It is a very very sad situation, and one I Pray I NEVER find myself or anyone I know in :(
