--Lion Cubs - Mummy and Baby Group!-- We are all One Year Old!

jesse absolutly loves wires, laptop/phone charger tv ariel, lamp cord, telephone cord, tv dvd xbox wires omg he absolutley loves them, i have to constantly grab them away from him need some cable tidys desperatly, im just scared in case one day he shocks himself biting through the wires especially now he has teeth!!

he loves any long string type thing though he loves the cords on my curtains and will sit in my bed for hours swinging the curtain cord backwards and forwards, and we have a few pull lights upstairs which he will swing off if your not careful when you walk past them lol, x

i just wanted to recomend this to you all https://www.argos.co.uk/static/Prod...537/c_2/3|cat_15701330|Baby+toys|14417556.htm

i bought it jesse yesterday as hes growing bored of all his christmas toys now and i wanted something to tide him over til his birthday, and he adores it! it is apparantly for 1yr+ and granted hes not really old enough to understand the toy to its proper potential, but it is perfect height for him to sit on the floor in front of and just about everything you can touch on it makes a sound! he has sat at it today and bashed around with it for hours! he actually keeps crawling over to it and playing on his own with me encouraging him to play with it, and i know it will last him a while cus he will grow into the shape sorting, learning colors/shapes/animal noises part of it :)
really recommend, and its not a bad price considering its m+p xx

LOL about all the wire loving babies! Kira loves my laptop charger too but I've been so freaked out about her getting hurt from it. Cleckner, you are a brave woman for sticking the charger end in your mouth :haha: And I do believe Adam could be the cause of the broken chargers! It's dangerous for our modern day babies... we didn't have laptop chargers to eat when we were babies! I did give in and let Kira chew on my camera import cord and now its her favorite toy. I'm not sure if it was a smart parenting decision since she might think all wires are okay to eat now, but for the short term it keeps her wire chewing needs satisfied. Boothh, I never even thought about the teeth issue- those little sharp teeth and wires are a bad combo!

Love the picture of Kira! Aww. :haha: I've done the same. I don't want Emma playing with electronics but yet I hand her my phone to play with. Kind of a hypocritical parenting move but I'm still learning.

Cleck, I have been so desperate for something that holds Adam's interest so I can change his nappy without it feeing like some form of torture for us both that I downloaded a baby rattle/animal noises app for my iphone that he can touch the screen and it makes a different animal noise. It was good on a few occasions but only for a few seconds at a time. :dohh: At the moment we are having fairly easy nappy times because he found something else he is fascinated with - thank goodness this one is low-tech - his hairbrush, which he chews on :D. I've even managed to clean him up while he's lying on the mat, which was something I hadn't done in about 2 months.

I don't want to encourage him to play with electronics either but he always makes a beeline for phones, remote controls, cables, wires, laptops... strange children we have.

Oo I have a cheap phone so it's not a big deal if she breaks it. In fact I've went through two phones since having her. :dohh: I've been eyeing the iphone though. Do you love it?! I know it has all kinds of cool features but what about its everyday signal when talking on it? Does it get good signal? We have been thinking about switching carriers for a while now and DH has been begging for an iphone since it came out. *rolls eyes*

We do have odd babies. Thankfully Emma still has no teeth so when she does get to wires she isn't in much danger but I still have been trying to teach her NO as nicely as I possibly can. She's a monster though. :D

Heh, when I got my iphone and had to get the old SIM out of the old phone, the inside had gone rusty... I can only put that down to Adam sucking/chewing on it :dohh:

the iphone isn't cheap, but it doesn't cost me much more than I was paying on my old contract, and I had so much trouble with my old phone (which Adam had nothing to do it, it used to freeze all the time, like the software crashed, it was a Sony Ericcson) that I had to get rid of it. I like the iphone a lot, I've always had Macs at home and they work together seamlessly, I can synch my diary and address book and get pics and music on and off so easily, whereas it was a nightmare with my old phone because SE's software was incompatible with Macs. the apps are a bonus, I don't use many extra ones yet, but I guess I will when I have time to look into it. the one downside is the battery life isn't brilliant, so you kind of need to have the charger on hand at all times. I have had no issues with signal strength. the touch screen keyboard takes a bit to get used to when you're familiar with the regular keypad on other phones, but it's no big deal.

weirdly in our house it's me who has the decent phone, C has a cheap pay as you go phone. but I love the camera and video camera, it's SO easy to get videos off it and onto youtube, you don't even have to put them on a normal computer first.

so yes, I do love it. really it's just the battery life that's the one drawback.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear about it from someone that actually owns one! DH and I both have Macs as well so if we do decide to get them, it's nice to know things are super compatible! Maybe it'd be worth buying an extra battery with it than too, eh?!

lucas loves wires and books he gose mad to get them but i know how easy it is for a wire to get round his kneck as it happend to my sis lo she had to be raced to hopital with it i keep them all away from him. he has got a thing of going in to the kichen in his walker and pulling evey thing he can out the cupbords.

I cant rember who it was that asked if any 1 else was thinking about birthday partes yet but iam with rueben and lucas' being 2 days apart we are going to have a party on rueben's b'day for bouth of them rueben came out of school last fri saying all the names of his friends that want to come i think there is about 28 of them pluss all the fam i will have a very packed house. But iam glad it is in the summer as they can all go out side.

Boothh  Glad you think so too! We talked to AT&T last night and plan on going in on Saturday to pick up our new phones. Now we just have to call and cancel with TMobile. I'm amazed that we didn't do this sooner because the plans are much nicer and they even have military discounts so we get an even cheaper plan that way!

IPHONE = absolute best invention ever haha x

I second that, even playing it now. My whole family are mac nuts all the way. For example 6 people and 9 macs between us :dohh:

Oh and nappy time....... hate it, he twists and turns all over and i get so cross. At the moment he likes playing peeky boo with his trousers so I'm getting a bit of a rest but it won't last long. :dohh:

I love my iphone too, especially being able to upload photos directly to facebook! I've been trying a few things lately, I got the leapfrog learn and groove activity centre, but madam did not like it. So need to put that back on ebay

She's very into her spin and bounce froggy, so long as she can see the tv at the same time. I also finally cracked and bought her a little wooden piano which she absolutely LOVES. So pleased, now to get her playing scales!

She's also a wire chewer, which is unhelpful given that she spends a fair amount of time with OH in his studio. I think she has her own XLR cable to eat now

The childminder thinks Mog is going to walk soon, but I think she's going to have a crawl first. We got her one of those little trollies with wooden blocks in it, and she loves the blocks but she's not stable enough to try and walk yet. The stupid rubber ring thing has suddenly come into its own as well, she really likes sitting in it on the floor, and I don't have to worry about her diving headfirst into the tv stand or toppling over on the floor. I FINALLY made some curtains for her bedroom, a gorgeous fabric from Ikea, and I had to make her a new cot bumper, she keeps banging her head against the bars. It's more like a crash mat than a bumper, I made it twice as tall as the normal ones and put three layers of wadding in. Hopefully she'll stop bruising herself now. I also knocked out a little jersey sling, for carting her around in rehearsals without having to wear the moby all the time. It was great to do some sewing, I haven't really done anything creative since she was born, and I'd really missed it. Now, to make some cutie pie summer dresses :)

So we got our iPhones today. Doesn't take much to talk me into it. haha. We both have macbook pros and 3 iPods between us so it makes sense to throw in some more apple products. I'm itching for an iMac though but DH won't have any of it. :D So far, love the phone. I'm still wading through the freebie apps on iTunes so hopefully I'll find some good stuff. I can't see spending too much money on apps though. The phone was expensive enough so I'll have to hold off on spending any money on stupid little apps. I told DH it'll be something we can think about for Christmas presents to each
other.

Aunty E- Wouldn't that be fab if she walked soon though?! I'm just waiting for someone to come on here and say their LO is walking. :happydance: Emma walks behind her little rolling toy thing. Not sure what it's called but it's this.https://www.target.com/gp/detail.ht... Listing Ads&LNM=Primary&ref=tgt_adv_XASD0001
At first she hated it but she slowly would crawl over there and play with the little toys on it. I didn't push the issue but left it out in our living room so she could get familiar with it. Now she full blown walks with it. Until I get all excited and freak her out and she plops back on her butt. :haha: But I still don't think she's close to walking either.

So today we went out and I'm exhausted but tomorrow we plan on going to the zoo all day again. We've decided Sundays are going to be zoo days every week. I could go every day if DH let me but once a week will be fun I think! It's free now since I have a pass and DH is always free since he's in the military. Gotta love the free stuff!!

Also, AF reared her ugly head yesterday for the first time since Emma was born. GRR. haha. Just when I was starting to feel lucky that she has stayed away so long! :dohh:

Yay for iPhone :happydance:

I don't think Adam is *that* close to walking solo either, he walks really well holding on, stands holding with one hand, but he's wobbly. Apparently I was walking before my first birthday, so was my nephew, but my niece (although she cruised from 9 months) didn't let go till she was about 14 months. C's sister was walking at 10.5 months though. Adam is not falling over so much but he always has some bruises from something or other. Yesterday when C was minding him (before I went to work and while I was there), he first went head first off the bed into the laundry basket (soft landing, no tears) and then head first into his toy box, which gave him a bruise under his eye. He plops onto his bum mostly when he falls from standing but sometimes hits something - edge of a shelf, side of the high chair - on the way down. :dohh:

I don't think she'll walk any time soon - Emma on the other hand seems to be a likely candidate for first walking lion cub! I'll have to have a serious baby-proofing session if she does crawl or walk soon, there are so many things on the floor that she could hurt herself on, not least of all the wood-burner come autumn. Best get that firescreen back out!

See my nephew never crawled. He just went straight to walking. And my family keep saying he did it at 9 months and they are pushing me about it with Emma. Saying that Emma should walk by 9 months, etc.(In a forceful way as if she doesn't there is something wrong with her in their eyes) This was all while I was home visiting. Well she is 9 months now and I don't think she will walk anytime soon so I have them to deal with. All because my nephew walked at 9 months. It's ridiculous to put that kind of pressure on a baby! I, myself, didn't walk until 14 months. Granted I was a preemie so the standards were a bit different. Emma tends to curl her toes when she is standing and I have a feeling that is going to hurt her in the long run when it comes to balance. She's let go of things a few times, but only stood for about 3 seconds and than fell on her backside. :haha: I think she's going to be clumsy like I am. :dohh:

I think Emma will be our first walking cub too  It's silly to expect a baby to walk at 9 months when most babies don't till 12 months or later!

Kira is crawling faster now! Just over a week ago she wasn't crawling at all! And... she got tooth #2!! Thats 2 teeth in under 1 week. I had no idea it would happen this quickly! She also started trying to pull up on things and every time it ends with a head collision to the floor :dohh: But she's turning into such a happy giggly girl and will giggle for no apparent reason.

Cleckner- I'm hoping AF holds off for another year for me but hearing you got a visit makes me worried since I know you bf on demand and co-sleep too. I thought AF would hold off for us for longer. Did you have any idea, or did it catch you by surprise?

I have the same problem with wiggly baby at changing time. Sometimes peekaboo, or making silly sounds and randomly kissing her belly helps. Other times, the diaper just goes on very crooked, but since Kira doesn't poop but every 5-7 days still, a crooked diaper usually doesn't result in any damage :haha:

I started spotting ever so lightly a day before my period showed up. But other than that, nothing. No cramping, nothing. It isn't even a heavy period like other girls say they get on here. There have been a few teeny clots but nothing major and it's kind of light as far as periods go. How long do you plan on breastfeeding, spidey? Just being nosy I guess. :haha:

Hi - hope everyone and their LOs are doing well.

Riya has started standing and cruising furniture in the last few days, She's alot more comfortable crawling, but does lift herself to a standing position every now and again, so I think she may start walking in the next month or so aswell.

She was a bit of a late crawler, but seems to have come on leaps and bounds in the last 2 weeks or so.

Has also finally started saying MAMA,:happydance:, (mainly when she's in her highchair eating) it was just DADA for about 3 months.
