--Lion Cubs - Mummy and Baby Group!-- We are all One Year Old!

you two have gone birthday crazy!!!!!
I haven't made any plans yet, my OH wants to have a big family get together with both sides of family, I am not so keen as they haven't seen eachother since our wedding 3 years ago! I don't want the partyto be about them, it should be about Sophia. But I guess he is right!

What we have got planned is a party for the 8 babies that were in my NCT class (antenatal class). One of the mums lives in a really big house so we are having a party there for the 8 mums and dads and babies only. We chose a date in the middle of all the babies birthdays and it happens to be the day after Sophia's (which is lucky!) and also my wedding anniversary. I will be making a cake for that (any of you who are friends with me on facebook will have seen me tinkering with baking!) but no ideas yet.

As for presents, hmmmmmmmmmm haven't really thought about it yet, we won't go too mad as she will get plenty from all our family as well.

You girls crack me up :haha:

Boothh- thats so scary! I'm so glad Jesse is okay :hugs: It's so wrong for the nurse to treat you like that as accidents happen and right now our babies are at an accident prone age. I can't count the # of times Kira has hit her head and I always right there when it happens :dohh:

Cleckner- you are crazy!!! :haha: How will you resist not giving Emma her gifts early?? I love the cupcake idea- it's going to be so cute. The musical gifts sound great... I might have to steal some of your ideas!

So far I've decided Kira's birthday will be in the evening on her actual birthday since it falls on a Saturday! And we'll have a BBQ. Kira loves Dora the Explorer, so I might get a Dora cake pan and do a Dora cake. Not sure what I'm going to buy her yet though... hmmm....

As far as toys go, we buy Kira a new toy every couple of weeks, but most of her toys are wooden puzzles, blocks, books, balls.. etc. Lots of small objects that she chews on and knocks around the floor.

:haha: It sucks that we aren't near anyone for her birthday but I honestly always said I wanted it to be just me, DH, and the kids for birthdays. DH and my families are way too huge to have a party like that. DHs family still keeps in touch with 2nd, 3rd aunts and cousins. There are hundreds of them. It's insane. I can't even remember all of their names and I've been with DH for nearly 9 years.

spidey- steal away! :D I can even give you the website of anything you thought sounded cool. :haha:

I plan on packing away some of Emma's toys and replace them with the new ones. I mean some of the toys are clearly 'baby' toys so I'll pack them away for the next and keep things neat. I'm a neat freak. I have really no clutter in my house.

I haven't made any plans for Adam's birthday yet, other than to give up chocolate from June 1st till then, August 15th - gives me exactly 2.5 months - and hope to lose the rest of the baby weight! Then *I* will celebrate with chocolate.

We've never discussed it in the family yet, but my parents are going to be in London, so I guess we'll do something with them. I imagine we'll also see C's mum and his sisters and nephews, too; I had wondered about having a picnic in the park, perhaps, as his birthday falls on a Sunday.

As for gifts, I suggested my mum get him a ride-on/push along truck, or something like that. Haven't started looking for one. We really haven't room for a lot of toys, but I'll have a sort out and put his babyish things away so we can have room for some more grown-up ones.

Because we had Adam's christening/our wedding only a couple of months ago, I don't feel the need to have a great big celebration. I'd rather it was just close family. We'll have cake though, of course. Don't know about a theme, I'll have a think. :D

Before the birthdays, though, in the UK anyway, there is Father's Day. What do you all have planned? What are your LOs doing for their daddies?

i always forget jess and adam are exactly the same age :D

jesse is buying his dad an hours worth of tattooing for fathers day (£60) and im planing on giving him the rest (£180) for his birthday it will be his 21st haha so i suppose he should have something good, he wants a big chest piece and obviously is picky about who he gets to tattoo him going by the price lmao,

im planning on just giving him the tattoo money, buying him some ctue token gesture sort of thing, card and probably just have a little bbq or something, and of course we will get forced to go to MILs if i wanna go see my dad too *rolls eyes*

oo forgot this actually gunna get stuart a cup with jesses picture on, to take to for his cup at work lol x

 I literally listed all of her toys though. I'm done now. The potty seat really can't count cause it's not really fun for her. :haha: Technically there are only 6 toys and most were fairly inexpensive. The most expensive was the rocking horse.

I love cupcakes too!! They are so cute. You should do a cupcake theme for Abbi!! :winkwink:

im gunna do that too pack up all his baby toys when he gets his new stuff, the house is getting over crowded now and im sure someone else could benefit more from some of it!
are you the same with clothes? jesse has sooo many clothes and i have bags and bag he has grown out of! he never gets in half of it :( its such a wase of money but i cant help it! xx

Emma really doesn't outgrow stuff cause she's so teeny:haha:, but the few newborn and three month clothes that she has outgrown has been packed into a plastic storage tote along with toys that she's outgrown, etc. I plan on keeping them around until we are totally sure we are done with kids. Thankfully we have nice storage at our place.

what size is she wearing now?

i went to see my friends baby today she was born on monday weighing 7lbs! omg she is the smallest little thing iv ever seen!! i cannot believe jesse was once that small!!

and btw we tried him with the stairs today! he was trying soo hard but his legs are short and our stairs were too steep for him he couldnt reach to get his knees up onto the next step

Aww. That's adorable!! Emma is still in 6 month clothes and they are even a bit big in some cases. I think she'll be in them at least another month or two. :dohh: She just doesn't grow. I don't get it. LoL!

We did a car boot sale a few months ago and got rid of a load of Adam's little clothes. I saved quite a big bagful, though, my favourite things, which I'd use again. I've always got mainly unisex clothes for him because I am not keen on what the shops sell for boys - I hate dog, monster, dinosaur, bear and vehicle motifs (monkeys, cats, elephants, rabbits, farm animals and sheep are fine  ), and am not a big fan of slogans or overly sporty-looking things, or cartoon characters, and while he has some blue things now, I never bought blue myself (though he was given loads in blue when he was born). I'm really fussy with clothes, that's why he doesn't actually have that many! All his things that currently fit go in one medium-sized drawer.

So there's a big bag of clothes that went up to my parents' loft, along with the moses basket and bouncy Pooh chair. SO much of what I got rid of was stuff I didn't like that much, gifts and hand-me-downs, and stuff that I shrunk in the wash. Ooops. Label says 3-6 months but will fit average newborn...

Oh and speaking of small babies, I met up with my friend and her 4 month old son yesterday. Oh. My GOODNESS. He was like a newborn to me... SO little and light and cuddly. :D He IS quite small, 13lb (9th centile) but not teeny weeny, but he really seemed teeny weeny. Adam is about 20lb now and was a giant monster next to little Seth.

I think if we ever have a boy it'll be a bunch of vehicle outfits. DH is a car fanatic. I love little monkeys too. :haha: I actually already have quite a few boy outfits because we always thought we'd have a boy and no girls with DH's family tree. We were quite shocked when we found out Emma was a girl! So I would potentially be ready if we had a boy next because we even have nursery decorations for a boy. I buy stuff on clearance and can't help myself. I'm a bit of a shopaholic. :haha: But a thrifty one because I look for the cheap stuff! SIL also gave us a ton of boy stuff when I was pregnant the first time. She said 'its going to be a boy so just take this stuff'. But obviously that pregnancy didn't complete itself. I call my baby 'he' when I talk about him though. I just always thought it was a boy.

ohhh no! i love robot, dinosaur, monster, monkeys i bought jesse THE coolest jacket the other day, the hood is shaped like a dinosaur head it has teeth and everything it is sooo cool!!

cleck - i think my mmc wouldve been a boy too, i always refer to him as 'him' me and stuart mostly just call him hiro though cus that was our nickname

did i say we are ttc again? i got my first AF after mmc on tuesday so waiting for her to pack her bags and leave now so we can get :sex: LMAO!

Aww. :hugs: We named our little angel Cameron. It's the name of the hospital that I 'gave birth'(D&C) at. But we still talk about him sometimes. I still think about him a lot. At least once a week. I mostly get really sad around special moments like his birthday woulda been back on April 2 and than the two year anniversary of losing him is on August 29. But without him there wouldn't be Emma and she's my world so I am thankful! :D

Congrats on trying again!! I'm really rooting for you guys.

it weird cus i actually talk about him as if was a real person i knew, (though i feel like i did in a way) the best thing anybody said to me was my brother saying to me that he knows iv always wanted 4 children, and when i have those 4 and look at the youngest, ill think you know i wouldnt have that baby if hiro was here, i like to think ill get to meet him one day :)
i would love to be pregnant by jesses birthday
i got pregnant with jesse in 1night out of a cycle, we wernt trying and we lived pretty far apart at the time so he was a happy accident
and i got pregnant with hiro 1st 'proper' cycle of ttc like when i was looking out for ewcm and counting cycle days etc,

so FX i dont have any trouble this time either XD xx

I'm the same way about talking like I really met my baby. It's just this attachment I have. To me, it was a baby no matter what. A full blown baby. And if people think I'm crazy, oh well. I say the same thing that I hope I can hold him someday. There's this poem I found when I lost mine and it was the best poem I thought. Let me dig it up and I'll post it for ya. Sorry to the others in here but you can skip reading it if you want. :haha:

What Makes You A Mother?
I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today
I asked "What makes a Mother?"
And I know I heard Him say.

"A Mother has a baby"
This we know is true
"But God can you be a Mother,
When your baby's not with you?"

"Yes, you can," He replied
With confidence in His voice
"I give many women babies,
When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime,
And others for the day.
And some I send to feel your womb,
But there's no need to stay."

"I just don't understand this God
I want my baby to be here."
He took a deep breath and cleared His throat,
And then I saw the tear.

"I wish I could show you,
What your child is doing today.
If you could see your child's smile,
With all the other children and say...

'We go to Earth to learn our lessons,
Of love and life and fear.
My Mommy loved me oh so much,
I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a Mom,
Who had so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly,
My Mommy set me free.

I miss my Mommy oh so much,
But I visit her every day.
When she goes to sleep,
On her pillow's where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek,
And whisper in her ear.
Mommy don't be sad today,
I'm your baby and I'm here.'

"So you see my dear sweet ones,
your children are okay.
Your babies are born here in My home,
And this is where they'll stay.

They'll wait for you with Me,
Until your lesson's through.
And on the day that you come home
they'll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother,
It's the feeling in your heart
it's the love you had so much of
Right from the very start!

Sorry that's so long but I love it and go back to it when I start feeling sad. :flower:

thats a really lovely poem though it did make me cry haha ¬_¬

my mum is a big believer and when we were talking and she was telling me about her mc she said she truely believes we will have ALL of our babies with us in the next life, and she just said to me you know you will have them all together one day, and i dunno it actually does bring me comfort even though im no where near as much of a believer as she is id like to believe that, :) xxx
