--Lion Cubs - Mummy and Baby Group!-- We are all One Year Old!

Me and Stuart actually call them dog leads LOL, my mum was a child kinder and she used them so I'm pretty used to them and always figured I'd use them with Jesse! I remember my mum using them with me! I don't think there's anything wrong with them I think I'd use them primarily for safety (we live on a busy road and I wouldn't want to risk jess running out!) I think it gives toddlers just starting to walk outside abit more freedom than hand holding does but you still know they're safe! I don't care what other peoples opinion on things i do with Jesse, and I wouldn't get offended if people didn't like them, we all have different ways of parenting and it's upto the individual to decide what's right for them,I respect you all as mothers and friends and it's our right to choose how we parent! in lioncubs we all have different parenting styles but we all have happy well looked after babies!! :) live and let live IMO!! :) xxx

anywaysss!!!!! JESSE SAID HIS FIRST PROPER WORD!!! :) :) :)

We've been saying clap clap and clapping our hands together and now if you say clap clap he says it too!! He keeps looking at
me waving his hands and going cla clap! It's sooo cute if you clap your hands he says it so he deffo knows what it means!!! And also when Stuart walked in before he looked at
him and shouted daddyyyyyy and held his hands up to him all happy! Looks like he's having a talkative week lol! xx

Boothh- At least you have a sense of humor about the harnesses though! Some of the girls in that thread are utterly offended that I even dare call them leashes.:rofl:

Yay for Jesse's first word!! Awww. Clap clap. :D That's cute.

Anyone in here do sign language with their LOs? I think we are going to start Emma with sign language this week. I bought a set that has flashcards and a DVD to help show me how to teach her. We'll see how it goes. :haha:

Becki - you have a very wise head on your shoulders!

and yay for Jesse - can you get a video - i would love to see it! What a clever boy :happydance:

Cleck - I wouldve told them to shove off I might go in and tell em I call them dogleads see what they say  it's just another word for them lol I think the official word is reins.. Horses have reins lmao some people just have a stick up their arse don't they

We wanted to do baby signing but never got round to doing it properly though I have taught Jesse to put his fingers to his mouth if he's thirsty by constantly doing it and saying drink when giving him his bottle and he does do it bug only id he's in the right mood! It's a great idea!! xx

Oo shiv I will get a bid up when my lappy is fixed it's been in the shop a week now :(

Does any of the other babies get bruises on their legs now they're crawling? Jesse had three down the center of his leg and I think it's cus his always on his knees and climbing over stuff?! anybody else? xx

Sophia's got one on her forehead :dohh:

He's never had bruises before I don't like it! He's covered in them now though!! He's always jumping off the sofa though and he just crawls over toys and stuff not around them so he's always bumping himself! Stuart bruises really easily though so he must take his dad! If I play punch stuart (I have the girliest punch ever!) he always has a huge bruise! X

Ooh, Cleck, I haven't looked in the reins/lead thread because I had an inkling of how it would end up. People do seem to get extremely defensive and uptight about stuff round these parts.

We had reins when I was little and I'm not against them. I'm actually more against the wrist-band leads, they look more like walking a dog to me. We'll see how things go, but if Adam turns into a kid who wants to run away from Mummy I will be getting them. Unless we move into a lovely quiet rural safe village, that is. If we're still in SE London, I'd rather keep him walking to heel. As it were. Kinda.

Adam isn't covered in bruises any more but at one point about 4-6 weeks ago, his head was. Chris took some video of him to demonstrate how active he is in case social services came a-knocking. Crazy, but he has crazy thoughts sometimes.

Emma had one on her cheek for the longest time. I haven't the faintest idea how she even got it. :dohh: I always worry people are going to think I'm abusing her because she gets bruises and scratches on her face. The other day she had one on her back. Yet again, I have no clue how it got there.

It must be normal then I suppose if we threw ourselves around like the babies do then we'd probably have a few bruises too!

They always talk about how you shouldn't shake the babies but Emma head bangs with music and throws her head all over when she's being funny. :dohh: She's going to get self inflicted shaken baby syndrome.

Oook, I read the leashes thread

Not as het-up as I thought it might be. barely even controversial. :dohh:

I had a discussion with my mother when I was pregnant about reins, she wished my SIL would get some for my nephew and niece but they mustn't have been popular in Norway. I told her they were fine with me, they are one thing that was done in the past that I don't disagree with, because I know they didn't do me any harm, quite the opposite really. I do actually remember wearing them, too. Chris really wants us to get the ones exactly like we had, navy blue ones from Mothercare, old-style retro ones. Don't imagine they're still available.

They do sell em in mothercare lmao Jesse has some cus they fit in his highchair and they come out and have a clip on strap for walking lol navy blue with mothercare badge on lol!

Ah yes, I just had a look - they are a bit different from the ones I had! The clip in the front was small and square and metal with the Mothercare "M" on it only.

I remembered I actually have a pic of me in my reins, or at least the harness, I appear to be untethered in the pic... I think I was about 18 months old, maybe younger, so this was sometime in 1975: see where Adam gets his lack of hair from...

Wow he looks lots like you doesn't he!! Jesses hair is really long!!

Cleck- I would call them leashes too :haha: I very seldom see toddlers on a leash but I know DH was on a leash as a child and he even remembers it, so it must have been for a few years. I do tease DH about it because it really is not common here :haha:

Kira has a bruise on her forehead too. Poor thing also has scratches all over her face since she had a sharp nail and has a bad habit of rubbing her eyes and cut herself all up. She's looking pretty abused right now!

MJ- I really see the resemblance between you and Adam!

Spidey, Adam is the same as Kira - sharp little nails and scratches on his face. He's actually made a cut so deep that now the scab has fallen off there is still a little scar, between his eyebrows around about the bridge of his nose. I hope it'll fade! At one point he looked like a right little bruiser.

Happy 10 months today to Adam and Jesse :D How this year is flying by, it's insane.

Cleck...I call them leashes as well...I thought thats what they were haha.

Yay for Jesses first words!!!!!! Growing up so quick!!!

We do some signing with Caylee, she knows how to say Milk and More in sign language but that's it. I started young with her because my moms uncle is deaf and I have a cousin with severe autism who only knows sign language, so sometimes I walk around doing signs when I am talking to myself, I look like a goon.

Today we take Caylee into the ENT to see if they are going to do surgery on her for her ears and throat. I am...ah nervous. I just think 10 months is wayyy young to be put under..so if we can put it off, I will. I just want them to tell us she looks 100% ok haha. Praying for good news!

Yayy happy ten months to Jesse and Adam!

And heidi I hope it goes okay xx
