Hi all ,

I always boil water in a kettle let it cool for 15-20 minutes then put in a thermos. When I need to make baby a feed I fill a bottle and add formula to it.

Now my LO is over 6 months can I just put water straight into sterile bottles so say I let the kettle cool down then add 6 ounces each to 5 bottles for the day but not add powder to it until needed for a feed ?

Is this method ok ? I just get fustrated waiting to cool the milk down :/

Heya.

What brand of formula are you using? All the brands except Hipp Organic suggest using 70c+ water with their first milks and follow on milks. With Hipp Organic it has to be made with cooler water (50c or less). So if you are using Hipp or would consider using the follow-on Hipp if moving to follow-on, then you can use the cool water method guilt free! xx

When I use the thermos method I keep a sterile spare bottle full of cooled boiled water. Then I use half the amount of water required from the hot thermos, add the powder and mix. Then I add the cooled water to make a complete feed. Then you sterilise the feed and don't have to wait for it to cool. I only use this method when we're travelling as my LO has no standards and takes it straight from the fridge so I make mine in advance.

I use aptimil.

Boil your kettle.
Fill your flask.

If making a 6 ounce bottle.

Pour 3 ounces of the flask water into a bottle. then 6 ounces of formula.
Shake.
Add 3 ounces of cool boil water.

DONE INSTANTLY. No waiting time. no need to rewarm etc.

Easier making a bottle each time.
